I'm new to WAR and high level melee altogether. Currently 90 but I have GAXE to only 207 skill so I'm currently skilling that up solo in the tree on Robber Crabs. I went there /SAM and was getting pretty nicked up, having to rest every 2 crabs, very inefficient. I realized that wasn't going to work so I went home and changed sub to NIN, but it's only 20. The mobs started missing more and Utsusemi (just Ichi) was a big help so I can do 5-6 crabs or so before resting. I brought a soothing healer NPC (level 49), but she runs out of MP after 2 fights so that's only good for leveling her which is fine.
Now, to my question. I know subjobs are situational but when it comes to soloing 95+, is DNC more effective than NIN or is NIN more effective? Is SAM the Abyssea party sub? Is /THF still LOL for anything but farming?

/SAM will be your go-to most of the time. /DNC is nice if you are fighting weaker stuff and don't have a healer, or need to proc JA mobs in dyna. Only time I /THF is recently as I am farming up an armageddon and want TH and dagger procs on the NMs in Aby-Latheine. I honestly can not recall the last time I was /NIN...

Usually using /SAM. /DNC is my next most common subjob, followed by /nin.
I would recommend /DNC if you don't have all the Atma's that are good and definitely recommend it for skilling up.
Mandies in Tahrongi are pretty easy - just get yourself a regen atma or 2 and something increasing accuracy until you're up a little higher.
I took Great Sword from 300 onwards doing Dom Ops on Dolls in Altepa.

Gather as much -pdt gear you can. I thought /dnc was the better option for skilling up (/sam being for DD). One day I went out to the mandies in Tahrongi and realized I forgot to change subs. I was found that I was skilling up faster (based on time remaining in Aby) compared to my /dnc runs. I used this method to take all of my weapons from 250-300+ and break my wsnm. For the record, I use 3 regen atmas as well, so it alleviates the need for curing waltz.
I do think /dnc is an excellent choice for your first few trips, because it helps you build up your confidence and let you know how many you can pull at once without dying.

DNC get an evasion trait or 2 subbed, so that would be less retailitations. Between that, and if you were using hasso would likely explain the faster skillups.
