Hello. Been visiting this forum for a while, just nvr bothered to reply to anything, figured id throw in a few just for fun.
You know you've been a pld to long when....
-You die 14 times in a day and just laugh about it
-You feel strange if you havent died at least once during an xp outting O.o''
-You end up out tanking ur war in the Dunes while lvling ur thf
-You think your keyboards broken when ur voke doesnt work while farming with a thf sub
-You willingly tank two IT mobs during a bad pull when Sleep wont stick and laugh when they still cant kill you
-You get mad at your whm for insisting on casting Regen 2 on you because your life bar never seems to drop >_< (pet peeve of mine)
-You ask the whm to keep ur hp in the yellow/orange b/c if ur in the white, it means your doing a bad job
-you have more +Vit as a thf than you do +Dex & +Agi
-you try to tank as a smn, and you get three shotted
-You run around Qufim in low lvl equip on anon with a pt flag up casting Cure 4 on people just to confuse the hell out of them
-You cant understand why people get upset when they die
-You see being in the red as normal and cant understand why ur whm started freaking out
-You get into contests with your blm to see who can hold the most hate, and you win.
-You have a screenshot of every set of armor you've ever worn just because you thought it was so kool when you got it
Thats all i can think of atm, lol but oh well, just thought id throw these into the mix.

You KNOW you've been a PLD too long when:
-You voke the AH.
That is all I have to say about that.
My friend, Ronnold, is guilty to most of the above (AND HES ONLY LVL 30 (O.o))
-He likes to talk about the uselessness of his Centurion Greaves. (Stating he paid 14k and they're only 1 more defense than his Chain Greaves were, stating that more defense became useless a while back)
-He complains CONSTANTLY about his Centurion Greaves (He says they're ugly and make too much noise. I know i stated this once already but he really loves to complain)
-He often argues with newbs that VIT > DEF
-He often Vokes while farming.
-He shows off his PLDness by using holy circle/sentinel/protect II everytime we go someplace (Even the airship!)
-He Subs PLD when leveling his WAR job.
-He CONSTANTLY uses holy circle in the dunes.
-He's ALREADY trying to play hero and save people from undeads in Quifm.
-He salutes PLDs everywhere he goes.
-He can tell if the guy is a PLD just by looking at him (He can even tell if it's just a warrior in chain armor!)

-a whm casts protectera and you yell at him for not having protecteraII -i have almost done this..
-the whm without protecteraII casts protecter and youmove away from camp, thinking that if the spell touches you you will be "tainted", and go cast protectII on yourself -lol i can't belive i did this

- u instinctively know when u need to hit provoke macro.

hahahahahaha omg, brings a tear to the eye folks...haha, i'm so guilty of almost all of these things
they're hilarious cuz they're true! lol, i hate getting regen's cast on me, sucks to take dmg and have enmity decrease and still not be able to cure so you can get it back, i always did holy circle in dunes, i use pld as my sub when i lvl war, i try to voke when i use pld/thf for farming, i love to hear, "Don't hog hate so much, we cant get it off you!" (said by a couple of noob wars in quifim that didnt realize i was a paladin), i rejoice when i do more than 100 dmg, i've grown a love for white everyones and often wish FFXI had horses so i could ride a white horse, i feel naked if i dont have the BEST damned armor money can buy or quests can yield at my lvl, i die a little inside when i see people without up to date armor, i check my def. after every buff i get, and more...but my fav. is that i slap people around and call them weenies when they bitch about dying lol, anywho ill try to add a couple if i can...

- you purposely sacrifice yourself when leveling other jobs
- you seem to be curing more than the main healer(s)
- you dream of your next level armor at night
- you've ever called your sword "Excalibur"
- you've ever threatened to Shield Bash someone in real life
- you are completely numb to the shock of dying in game
- everyone around you feels several more times worse about you dying than you do and you find yourself consoling them even tho you're the dead one
- you've MB'd a skillchain with Banish (lmao)
- when you receive a tell after dying the first thing you say is, "Don't worry about it, it's my job", even when you're leveling non-tank jobs
- on your birthday you wished for Enlighten (a self buff that adds a Holy attribute to your sword)

OK here's a little paladin story that I think was incredibly funny. Around level 42(ish) (this was a long time ago) there was this Dark Knight who kept talking about how she had to tone down her damage for me, "The poor little paladin won't be able to hold hate, no paladin ever has." (impuning the honor of the job we all hold so dear) So I keep saying go for it, do whatever you want, I'll be fine, I haven't even come close to losing hate, etc. So the two of us decide to have a little contest. We decide as a party that we're gonna split up after this one guy levels, it having been a long party, but everybody wants to see this contest. So we get the guy a buffer (competition was pretty fierce and i think everyone wanted to see it through) and then have one more fight, just so we can do this. Basically, i ask her to wait for my second voke and then do everything in her power to steal hate. So I decide to just go all out... ya know, use both shield bash and sentinel (which I, of course, ordinarilly wouldn't do.. wanna save one for next fight so we can chain, eh?), flash like crazy, whatever, but when i see that the little vixen doesn't wait till my second voke, I decide that I've had enough of her (she skillchained before i even got to sentinel... tsk tsk tsk... she's obviously trying to keep me from building hate.) So i voke again, cure III myself for the damage i've gotten, then I Invincible. Then, I do something I wouldn't normally do at all... type into /party chat: /p *yawn*, /p AFK (the BLM starts laughing his ass off at the AFK)... needless to say I won, the mob died, there was much rejoicing...

You walk in front of moving traffic and think "No Worrys! I'll pop my invincible if it looks like that bus will hit me".
When your girlfriend gets mad at you and you think "Man I sure can hold the hate well!!"
When your girfriend realises she is wrong and apologises to you, and you feel bad because you lost aggro.
Someone on the freeway cuts you off and you decide to "Voke" using your middle finger.

lmao Great thread. I am also guilty of above 90% of these. I read them and didn't thin I would have anything new to bring to the table till I remembered this one that I am guilty of:

I haven't played my paladin in probably close to three months, but so many of the original posts fit. Knowing 30 seconds is one of the more amusing ones, its harder to keep track of 5 minutes for barrage but I am usually still within 30secs on that one. When i did put on my pld armor to see how the santa hat looked the first thing i noticed was the klinking, so many truths to that one, and my pld is still only lvl 63...
Man I've done or do most of these and I'm only 35 !!!

But anyway, lol, I am guilty of about 95% of these, and I have a few of my own.
- While farming you gather as many mobs around you, then massacre them with Circle Blade, so the lower lvls around will look upon you as a god.

- When you watch the intro, and see that guy charge in and get beat to a pulp by the orc you get excited and think " Hell yes! There I go!!"

- Get very pissed when someone else takes a link and runs off to die while you get Escape'd.

But I could'nt do anything about it, and feel like I owe an explanation as to not look like a bad tank.We had just finished a strenuous battle in Tree when a elem decided to join in, I had no voke, no mp left, no way to grab hate, so a friend of mine grabbed it and took off runnning. I tried to catch him but he was too far away and I got grabbed by the escape. I was so sad. Lol, we argued over that one for about half an hour. His arguement was I would de-lvl if I had died, and mine was, " But its my job!!!" When somthing like that happens,... it makes you feel useless, and thats a bad feeling.

oh man, i've never laughed this hard while reading a forum... definetly guilty of 98% of these, especially the armor ones... i have screen shots of all the armors i wore during my pally lvling... here's a few of my own... not sure if they've been said, since i didn't read through all the posts...

-You're leveling ranger, and don't find it surprising that the mob has all his attention on you... then get mad when someone vokes it off...
-Your a Ninja tank and forget to put up Utsusemi cause you think u have high def
-You cry when your lvl 74 PLD friend sells his Adamant Armor and down lvls on purpose (true story)
-You sell your PLD armor cause u think ur gonna quit... then read posts like this and decide to buy it back, even if it'll cost you tripple...
Yeah, i was thinking of quiting, but then i read stuff like this that just plain brings joy back and reminds me why i put so much time in this incredibly cool job... thanks everyone, you brought back some new life into this little depressed pally... /salute to all the PLDs out there, and to the aspiring ones i've helped with Kazham keys, pally quests, etc... So many ring so true, just read the lot and laughed all the way to the end. here are a few more that arnt in (or at least I didnt read)
* You cant stand being in a party with a Ninja even if your leveling your subjobs.
* You go to the dunes to cast raise once you hit lvl 50 just to show the noobs you dont have to be a whm to do it.
* If you get stuck in a party with a Ninja you refuse to give up the hate and voke as soon as it vokes.

-Adore your capped evasion skill and giggle hysterically for five minutes straight after you go through a battle with an IT beetle without being hit ONCE.
-You've never lost hate to overcuring.
-You're leveling your White Mage in the dunes, and your party links three gobs on a bad pull. So you proceed to run into the middle of the fray, use Benediction to grab all the hate, and scream at everyone else to zone. (We actually all lived through this. I had 9 HP when I hit the zoneline. ^_^)

1) You can tank the mobs with your eyes closed.... falling asleep and you're still holding hate........ That's what happened to me when I was I trying to get to lvl 75 like 2 months back in Ru Ann gardens ~_~;
2) You jump on to the next tanking job after you gain 75 just for the fun of it..... (Nin lvl 52 800 XP to 53 =P)
3) You discover that you're losing the feeling for the game after you gained PLD 75.............

When your tanking reflexes cause you to hit the Provoke macro when you're trying to do a SATA. This happened to me twice yesterday. Stupid tanking instinct...
-when you volenterr your 31whm to be 1st voke with flash for SATA, because teh drk and sam are too scared to do it...

I'm so guilty of many of these!!!
-when you begin drinking juice in real life and feel more refreshed
-when you see a bottle labeled Ether in real life and consider it for even a second.. (but it will refill my mp!)
-when you have a 4 mage and 1 thf party and tell the sumoner to meele so thf can sata on him and do more damage and tell him you'll give him 10k if the mob ever turns on him..
(this last one was quite funny to me.. it was a wierd setup in quicksand caves.. ended up telling them to do poison nails to SATA viper vite.. and MB with freeze and turned out to be decent exp..)
-when you tank while leveling any other job and do better than the noob tank at the dunes.
-when you think about leveling rdm just for phalanx and see how much your def would increase, and just in case they raise the level cap for refresh
-when you end up puting power sandals on any job after 18.. cause you dont want to get rid of em and you sure as hell aint giving them back to the guy in selbina.. (although it would be funny to give em back after so much use.. )
-when you have to run after a bad train cause you are the only one left alive that can raise.. and have to tell yourself you did the right thing and it would have caused more downtime but don't feel to good about it.. (party next to us trained anticans in Quicksand and escaped..)
-you dont feel the need to sneak fish cause you think you can just ignore the dam thing pounding on ya..
-when you feel that SE should have given us 2 handed war hammers

-You know you're a pld too long when you level Drg for fun and bring +Vit gear.
-When you cover the Whm from being one shotted while still weakened and eat dirt again. (did it last night)
-When you know you would use cover and die again without hesitation.
*Didn't sub Pld to War when I last leveled it. I subbed Thf so I could not be the tank. Kind of like a break from tanking... I out tanked the War/Mnk in my pty and out damaged him. (-.-)

You don't mind dying at lower levels, because 500 exp just doesn't seem like that much anymore.
When leveling other jobs, you can't bind anything where your provoke or flash macros were, because you're very likely to randomly smash them.

iv done the sub job no provoke thing before way to many times. Was doing castle zvhal coffer and i saw one of the coffer mobs. Was trying to provoke it because me and the monk were having a hate war so i cheated by trying to voke putll:

When you lvl PLD to lvl 35 and decide to finish the last dreaded few lvls of war sub to be done with it. And when using war you try to cure yourself over and over again not know you not pld atm.
When your lvl war sub and hate every minute of it cause you can't cast cure, but keep hitting cure macros.

You know you've been a Paladin too long when...
*You refuse to party with a ninja when leveling your tarutaru warrior for sub.
*You wear your stamina rings +1 as a whm, just to show people you might just be a paladin.
*You cry when you level your whm because the shields you can use suck.
*You tell your party, "we don't need a whm, I can heal" when having your paladin subbed.
*You as a tarutaru leveling your warrior sub get offended greatly when they invite another tank into the party, but rejoice if they invite a fellow paladin.
*...Then you moan at how horribly this fellow paladin is holding hate.
*You carry def food when leveling mage jobs.
*You pay to set your homepoint outside of kazham, instead of doing it for free in kazham, just so you can rush back to your party's aid in case of death.
*You refuse to zone, saying, I'll just HP when I die, and take the exp hit, rather than letting anyone else die.
*Then you die 3 times that one battle, and keeping doing it. (leaving the party afterward cause they can't pull/play well)
*You wear your power sandles when leveling mage jobs.
*You always carry around all your PLD gear, instead of putting it in the MH. Then put it in your bazaar, just to show your a paladin.
*You laugh when everyone in the party uses their 2 hr, EXCEPT YOU, and they still can't pull hate from you.
*You still laugh when it happens again and you're a WHM.

You guys judge am i playing PLD to long or wut..., here my story ( This is for real )..
At 1.00 am i'm party'in at king ronberry tomb and i'm feeling sleepy and found other pld to replace me.., it took him 15 min to get there so in 15 min i tank while sleeping a bit.. ( u guys have done that to rite??) so after the replacement arrive i just log there due to very very sleepy..
later that night My wife at 3.30 am my wife woke me up and
she said : "you got to stop playing FFXI.."
and I said : "why ?? do you have to wake me up just to tell me
that??"
she said : "Yes! I can't sleep you keep yelling Voke!! Voke!!
Voke!! All The time !!!"
look I don't know this is a funny story or a sad story but dang it this is a true Story !!!!!!

lol. I'm guilty of doing this a few times, now I try to log off before I get that tired, just don't want pt member to die cause I'm sleep playing.
I did this one other time, fell asleep and was play for like 30mins after I was asleep(or at least I think it was a sleep like state) and I also think I may have hit all the key on the keyboard at once cause I woke up on the pol error. The next day I contacted everyone and aplogize that I fell asleep and d/c. One of them was like "you fell asleep for the 30mins before you d/c?" I was kinda amazed I did that good asleep. Anyone else have the excitement of doing this too???????
