I'm not quite sure why I'm posting this other than to say goodbye to the forum that's been my home for a number of years now. Many of you probably don't care. Some of you will probably even be glad. Regardless, I won't be around any more.
My brother's account got caught this morning in a "Charge Back" violation. When he talked with SE, they specifically told him that because of the Charge Back they believe he is guilty of Gil Buying (which he hasn't done) and it would take 2-3 weeks to review the account before going back to him. The best part was that during the conversation, the SE Rep told him he has THREE YEARS of clean payments and that their system doesn't even show when the charge back even occurred. Just that he's been banned for it. They wouldn't reenable the account but they DID try to charge him for it. Regardless, I don't feel like I can play in a game where my character can be taken so readily away from me for something that they can't even prove happened. So, while I've enjoyed the discussions, arguments, and number crunching that I've seen here in this forum, I must bid you all adieu. Good luck in your ventures.

It's not so much that I don't enjoy the game as that it has spoiled my brother's fun and he's leaving. With him gone, the desire to play lessens for me as well. We're currently looking at other MMOs we'd like to play.
On the plus side, I haven't deleted my character, so if I desire to come back, I'll be able to pick up almost where I left off.
To Shintasama, sorry, but my stuff stays where it's put.

To Soopafeen and NCCoda, thanks for the encouragement, but family is a big reason I was playing. Losing one character with no chance of getting back all the hard work we did isn't incentive for us to stay.

I know what you mean though, I'm cool with a lot of people but if the few that I'm really close to quit playing (Including a couple RL friends I've known for 10-20yrs), I'd find it really hard to keep playing.

truthfully.. i have FF12.. but it was a gift from a frind of mine (he sold his ps2 and gave me his games.. ICO pretty cool)- thing is im so disgusted with the way SE treats its customer base ive not even brought myself to actually sit down and play it. I dont even know what the main menu screen looks like.
Main reason I play FF11 is for my friends ive made.

Someone in our LS had the same problem, but they were fixed in 2-3 days, not weeks. Did I miss something, or was it just the charge-back ban you were talking about (that would be fixed)? Because later you said there was no way to get the character back.

The big gripe is 1) They even told him they can't prove the Charge-Back because his record is clean, 2) Because it's flagged, it means the character that is flagged is likely to be an RMT, and 3) current investigations show that the character is involved in RMT activity. Hence, the 2-3 week investigation into the matter to determine if we can get it back and the statement that we probably will never see Mishakal again. I don't think I fully explained that before and thought I'd clarify. What I'd like to know is how a (non-existant) Charge-Back qualifies someone as an RMT, especially given they're wonky billing?
Anyway, best of luck to you all. And enjoy your new Counter +3 ability that is forth-coming. Maybe if I were to continue playing, I'd finally get a shot at revenge for that 592 damage Counter Omega gave to me a while ago...
