You ideally want to use the same set for where you're at now. You can start macroing in gear now, but you'll be best served in XP (especially at 66) by using a Hybrid DD build (hybrid in that Shield skill is your biggest form of defense).

I just took PLD to 75 myself (hit it this past sunday morning)....as a Taru. I primarily used this equipment at 66:

My TP Gear:

Chivalrous Chain (although Peacock charm would be better)

For my WS gear, I substituted in Rajas, a STR ring, and a headpiece that gave +3 STR.

All in all I went with the DD build, and things went smoothly for the most part. After 55 DD gear really shines, dont turtle after 55 if you level in ToAU.

As I gained a few levels I bought Company Sword, Dusk hands/legs (better than adaman for defense and gives crazy attack, just dont travel in them), Suppa/Brutal for earrings, and Walahra Turban (for TPing). I would like to get a Joyeuse and a Speed Belt as well but that will take time.

Once I hit 73, I did pick up adaman body/head and a Koenig Shield for a defense build (and I need a few more pieces as well, like Knightly Earring/Boxer's Mantle/Jelly Ring), as I realized I will have to actually turtle tank at some point so I figured I would prepare early.

My end game gear isnt all that great, but I am only needed on PLD in a REAL pinch - so I am in no real hurry to deck it out, but its passable for now.
