Does anyone remember that 90's Transformers spin-off, 'Beast Wars'? I sampled it! Wow!

The animation is hilarious to look at these days, but I've gotta say they did a pretty good job considering the state of CGI back then.

...I tried Scarlet Blade just because we all know the only reason for an MMO is naked women Smiley: inlove

As much as it pains me to mention since it almost killed FFXI... FFXIV is shaping up to be pretty good. Also keeping an eye out for The Elders Scrolls and Wildstar, but they're still in beta. TES sounds more interesting now that I know they're trying to still keep the open aspect of the single player games. I'm not sure if it will work since GW2 sort of did this and failed did not succeed, but there are a wide range of reasons for that.

After playing around with various MMOs, both free and subscription, I'm finding that the F2P model is definitely not a good future for the genre. This seems to shift the focus away from quality content to gimmicky events. I guess it does give players to play free games, but what's the point if it's not a quality experience?

No clue why the quote wasn't simply cropped making it clearer. Unfortunately, because of the NRA, it's difficult to discuss the actual gameplay elements of the MMO.

nah, i'm trying to stay away this time, for awhile at least. tired GW2, couldn't stand it for more than a day though it was cool at first. really liked TERA but my machine can't really hand it well (or any modern game, really. thing needs an upgrade badly). right now i just have too much going on w/ work and outside projects to deal with an MMO. i was able to stay gone for 11 months this last time and while i was having fun with FF, there are only so many hours in the day.

I was interested in ARR until I found out that it won't have Dark Knight (at launch at least). ESO looks like something I'll have to at least try. All of the previews I've read have been fairly positive. They were written after only a couple hours of play time though, so who knows if it'll hold up to a longer session.

Que?

TESO had me super excited until the reveal that factions are set in stone and races cannot intermingle. Ever. That just bummed me out completely. I have around 3-6 friends IRL who wanna play this game and I know for certain we don't all wanna be one of three races, but I don't wanna have to be in the situation where we all have to like, I don't know, vote to pick a specific faction that we all want to play in because that will undoubtedly result in several people being dissapointed. Not to mention how sucky it is that you can only visit the rest of the world once you reach max level and even then it's an adjusted world built specifically for you and your fellow max-level faction buddies. No meeting the actual races that live there. Nope. They're off in some other instance ... for some reason.

I just don't understand why a game that has traditionally been all about the multi-culturalness of the world has suddenly become a three-faction, PvP focused MMO. I would have been completely cool with it if these factions were optional, like, I don't know, Skyrim? Maybe encourage people to stay within their races prominent faction and make slight storyline changes if you play as an opposing race but straight up locking these factions apart? It saddens me.

Why can't MMO's just be new versions of FFXI? *humph*

I miss 75-cap FFXI Smiley: frown

And that makes it seem less interesting. I was mainly thinking of how "classes" work, but I haven't done a ton of research into the game.

They streamline the Elf and Humans into one race now? Lame. Probably no more lizards either, which is fine because they sucked.

So things just keep getting worse for Microsoft...

First, their big Xbone announcement only showed that no one knows what is going on with the system or how it works.

These past few days, they have cancelled their post-E3 conference and are now cancelling 1-on-1 interviews.

There's a rumor how the designers of the Xbone overstretched themselves, and will need to downclock the hardware.
In addition, there's been a bunch of nasty rumors about Microsoft conducting shady business and showing off fake demonstrations, but I have no clue how legitimate these could be.

One of three races per faction. There are three factions. The Ebon Heart Pact will have the Nords, Dunmer, and Argonians. The Aldmeri Dominion will have the Altmer, Bosmer, and Khajit. The Daggerfall Covenant will have the Bretons, Orcs, and Redguard. Imperials will be in the game, but as NPCs only.

Not to mention the thing is an Orwellian nightmare of constant surveillance.

And the ridiculousness that is the-internet-must-always-be-on. Because gamers LOVED Diablo 3 forcing you to have a connection to play single player? And Sim City. Right?

Also this doesn't really affect you Americans so much but internet in Australia is absolutely ********** Lag will plague plenty of potential users, if anyone is idiotic enough to get an Xbone (I like that portmanteau!).

Well the bad news is that an internet connection is required. The good news is that you only need to connect once every 24 hours. Honestly, I don't know why Microsoft was unable to go with Steam's policy. The inability to play games without a connection is an absolutely terrible idea.

I recognize the direction that Microsoft is taking is just a logical step though. Everything is going digital and in 10 years, I think the idea of a "used game" will be all but extinct.
