Let's take it apart, shall we.
Not sure if there is a DRG in the party and he is referring to the DRG's damage or the wyvern's damage.
Maybe he is at a distance and hits for 30 damage? Not really sure.
Maybe he is asking about acid bolts? Or perhaps he is referring to the acid bolt effect in relation to wyvern damage?
And I'm lost again.

Indeed. With a DRG using Angons (or whatever their new merit ability thing is), my damage raises from 20 damage per shot using Loxley Bow + Wooden Arrows to 30 damage per shot.

ok here it goes... this is as far as i can get lol.
you have a weapon with 20 dmg, and you shoot for 30 dmg. but if your job is not rng, your dmg becomes half. with no time reload, you get 10 (20/2 = 10). but, BUT, you are not a drg since you are shooting, so is it 30 dmg or 10 dmg?
lol this actually got my attention and got me thinking for a while (which is hard to do). rate up for that!!

For some reason I think this sounds like a good answer: The damage of a ranged attack is not just dependent on the weapon. A Bow with Base Damage of 20 and an Arrow with a base damage of 10 are actually combined so that the base damage of the attack is actually 30 from the weapon.

Maybe he is saying something like.
Ranger has a weapon (bow) with a damage rating of 20.
Dragoon has a lance with a rating of 20.
Ranger is doing 30 points of damage per hit on the mob.
Dragoon is doing 20 points of damage per hit on the same mob.
Perhaps he isn't accounting for the damage of the ammo.
Maybe what he is trying to say is simply...
Rangers and Dragoons are both still good damage dealers.

I can't stop looking at it trying to comprehend. Brain stop computing... not making sense. In the movie Pie when he drills a hole in his head cause the fromula is driving him insane... now I know how that guy felt.
