Auto Range AttackFollow

Does anyone else find it tedious hitting a macro every time to shoot an enemy?

When I don't feel like turning on Winamp or listening to my ipod while I play, I usually like to listen to the battle music while fighting. Right now, the only way to do this as a Ranger is to auto-attack and then back up to shoot.

It gets increasingly annoying everytime I see that message saying I have to get closer to attack, when all I'm doing is shooting arrows at the enemy. I know this is kind of WoW like (and I hate to admit it) but the way the hunters are able to use ranged attacks without hitting the button more than once is much more convenient than FFXI's approach to the topic.

So, I propose that if you are a RNG or, subbing RNG or something that when you auto attack and move out of melee range, you would automatically start attacking with your ranged weapon. I know this would be frustrating for any RNG or /RNG who happens to have, say, a Happy Egg in their ranged slot though, so maybe only if you're using a bow/xbow/re-usable ranged attack (ex. Boomerang) this would take effect.

As a follow-up question, I'm curious as to whether or not switching ammo makes you lose TP. I know it's somewhat of a nub question, but my account is still unactive so I can't do the research myself.

Thanks for your responses.

As for switching ammo no you do not lose tp for that its just when you put something in ranged slot. Ive done it a few times where I will accidently switch from a arrow to bolt or vice versa and I will still have tp until I equip the right weapon and thats when I lose tp.

Also wouldnt mind the auto attack thing I can see it being a problem with trying to ride hate line but when it comes to merits you dont really have to worry about it and would come in handy big time then

When I'm basically shooting money at the mob to damage it, I want to be the one shooting the money. No computer's going to waste my gil without my say so.

You only have to hit the macro 1/3 as much then. Also, you might need to adjust your /wait depending on weapon, etc. This, however, wastes Rapid Shots.

Personally, I do not mind hitting the macro every time I want to shoot, but to each their own. I agree that there would be times when it would be nice to shoot automatically, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not the end of the world.

Personaly, i also like hitting my macro to shoot. I can't stand a job where i just press Ctrl+A then watch TV until i have 100% tp. Probably b/c i also like switching out my ammo's. Acids, blinds, holys, darksteel, ect. RNG was my first job so i spent alota time wandering around. Bolts of course being RNG's solo weapon (unless you just gonna slugwinder > barrage > slugwinder a mob then gun is prolly best) I grew up swaping out ammo and needing to recast shadows, watch timers, ect.

Of course, this prolly helped me play RDM and PLD. If i'm not hitting some sort of macro, i feel like i'm not doing my job.

Personally I have lost to many CP bolts and ammo to want auto ranged attack. All I need is to swap over to my PPA and have the shot go off and lose another. I prefer to do this on my own and making sure unlimited shot goes off before I hit my ws macro.
