Updated Hunting Grounds: Revised XP Guide for BeastmastersFollow

There's several great spots I found for my BST (71) to solo. Probably many more for my level and around it as well.

Wajaom Woodlands
Can also be done in Bhaflau Thickets

Pet: Tigers / spiders. (all DC mobs)
Target: Tigers / Spiders. (all DC mobs)
Respawn: 2min after death.

This form of exping was mainly for the farming aspect. Tiger pets are great against spiders, and vice versa. Was getting 60-67 exp per kill. Spider Webs dropped maybe 1-4 every hour as BST/WHM. If I was /THF, would probably drop a lot more often considering how many you can kill quickly.

Halvung

I don't really remember much for this one. There are DC bats in near the entrance from Wajaom Woodlands. Near them are Even Match - Tough crawlers. Further in, you'll find Tough - VT trolls. Used EM Crawlers vs a PLD Troll. Gave me about 160exp with pet still charmed. You'd need to do some investigating of your own to find out more. Not a bad area, would have stuck around longer if not for a 72 BST exping near the entrance, and a duo PT killing the crawlers and trolls.

Aydeewa Subterrane

Looking at the Wajaom Woodlands map on ffxi-atlas.com, enter the Aydeewa Subterrane zone through mark "8".

Pet: Slime Mold (or whatever those 2 slime type mobs are called right by the entrance). Checked Decent Challenge everytime to 71.
Target: Qiqirin Archeologist (Tough-Very Tough @71), no aggro but links to sight, ranger type mob. 2 close together by the zone, several others spread out.

They gave me 220-260+ exp without exp ring. One slime is enough to take out a VT as long as you fight alongside it. The biggest problem with this however is that the slimes are EXTREMELY HARD to charm. We're talking 1/4 likely at best a successful charm. And this is with an Apollo's Staff. Mess up the initial Charm and you may have to zone it. Dealing with the Qiqirin's habit of running away is something you can't really do. There's a good chance they'll run into a link. But most of them are ranger type mobs, so they're fairly easy to handle even if a link happens. Just need to know what to do... which I won't share, since this is the type of stuff that makes players better. This area is mainly recommended for those who aren't afraid of mischarm, aggravating death (for you), and constant need of zoning. As well as the well equipped, since you'll need all the help you can get to charm the slimes.

Hope this helps some people because it was giving me **** trying to find areas for my BST to exp in. IC was getting really annoying.

53-55: Bostaunieux Oubliette
PETS TO CHARM: Dark Aspic (52-54)
MOBS TO FIGHT: Werebats (55-59)
NOTES: Before going in trapdoor, call jug pet and cast sneak. Drop into downstairs and select a DC Aspic, and launch pet on it. Head to Ronfaure zone by taking every right turn possible. Keep sneak up! Once at zone, Leave Jug pet and charm Aspic. Use same Aspic after each fight, and fight on stairs. Recommend at least one piece of AF gear to assist in charming, and a Light Staff is a must, as slimes are resistant to charm. Room only for two BSTs or a BST and a party.
CONTRIBUTOR(S): Zonny, Durginn

this shouldn't work anymore, pet vanish, camp should be in the sewers now.

Aydeewa Subterrane 69-71?
Pets: Slime Mold 67?-69
Prey: Aydeewa Diremite 70-72? Defoliator 70-72?
Camp: I-9, I-8, J-8 2nd map, enter the subterrane from the first entrance to the north in wajaom woodlands (@ I-6) when exiting from al zahbi.
Notes: Everything in your camp area aggros, except the saplings and puktraps. Slimes can be a pain in the *** to charm (like usual -_-) suggest you buff up (blink, stoneskin) before each attempt to charm and use tame while still in their spawn area so they dont despawn after you use Tame. Melee along with your pets, i very rarely had any trouble finishing off mobs even though most of the time my pet slimes were DC. This is good exp and should be decent money as well. Silk thread from crawlers, Bloodthread from diremites.

In my experience with this thread i found that the lvling spots that are posted were very good some were off by a lvl or 2 but all in all very good. I am currently 46 bst and will take it to 75. this is the only job that i found exciting my other jobs being rdm (so boring it makes me cry) and mnk. rate up

You DO realize that this thread is in the compilation sticky now, right? What's one more click vs constantly bumping something?

If you plan on a Trio for Elder Goobbue from 70-75, don't expect very much out of it. Best results when I did it started at Lv66, with up to 4x BST at 65 (Trio works at this level as well). XP drops off at 72, but duo then is decent xp, albeit a lot more dangerous.

Severely outdated yet the majority of the information (including the "notes" wording) is identical.

You have to love how things are easily copied across multiple sites.

I think a copy of this list is at ffxionline and KI also.

As long as theres suggestions, it's good enough for me.

The XP here gimps at 40, do not even think about coming here at 40. 38-40 is best with leeches vs. skeles, or 39-40 crabs vs. skeles, but leeches are still better due to blunt damage.

Ok, this one confuses me a bit. Is this saying that at 57 we should be using Tough pets? I have followed this leveling guide pretty much the whole time I have been leveling BST, but most times I go a level or 2 later than it says. Hares starting at 58, seem like a death waiting to happen to me. I should hit 57 tomorrow or friday and will try this, but is there somewhere else that I should try? Loo seems ok, but I dont care for that place much. Thanks.

It works, you just have to be careful and remember that Higher level mobs being charmed don't last as long, and switch out frequently. The level range of tigers is off though. they're 60-63. One you get 58 though, the tunnel camp has two hares, just keep converting until both are EM and you're golden.
