This post is a little earlier than we wanted to be, but since its out there, here goes:
Yes, there are discussions of a merger between LotB and The Flock. There is nothing concrete and we are just in the talking stage. We have done some posting back and forth on each others websites and had some conversations on Ventrilo.
Here is some of my post from May 15th:
I have stayed out of this post for a while, but I just want to set the record straight. LotB and its members have no alterior motives, no gil-driven evil plot or malicious intent to ruin the EXP camps for the lower level BST in mind when we are discussing migration. When the open migration was first announced, the immediate reaction was that it would be cool for the hardcore BST that don't have an active all BST LS to have the potential opportunity to join in. It was also exciting for us BST lifers to envision a huge BST ls filled like minded players dominating the landscape.
For LotB, The Flock, BitS and other established all BST LS, the opportunity to push the envelope a little bit further and take a stab at some things that may not be possible with the current members on the roster is upon us. If I had premium on Alla I would dig up my post from about 2-3 years ago in which I stated my dream of an all BST dynamis. It still rages on. Yes, LotB has done dynamis majority bst since then, but I am talking one party of mages for the statues and then 58 crazed, axe weilding, crab toting BST rampaging through the Dynamis realm. I also envisioned taking out all the wyrms, maybe some kings and doing stuff like all BST Bahamuts.
The possibility of doing stuff like this may become a reality. Again, if you dig up my old post about migration when it was first announced, I even stated that it may be beneficial to transplant to fresh server, w/o an established BST LS if we could muster the numbers. I realize we all have ties with our servers, our friends and most of all our linkshell members. But there are some (myself included) that may see it beneficial to make a major change to extend the all BST madness. I am not arrogant enough to think people are gonna flock (no pun intended Dejan) to Shiva just cause LotB is there, trust me.
I am BST, through and through. I love going against the grain, doing things unconventionally. I got extremely lucky that early in my FFXI I got a world pass from a SOCOM buddy that no longer plays and transferred from Valefor to Shiva, then eventually was able to help LotB be built to what it is today. At this point in my career, I yearn for more all BST first. If that means recruiting more dedicated BSTs to Shiva, I'll do it. If it means transplanting to another server, if it was worthwhile I would do it.
I would encourage die hard, thick headed BST fanatics to take some time to ask if you want to participate in all BST major events. Believe me, I have thought about it long and hard. And I am not saying "COME TO SHIVA!!!11!!11". I am saying, take a long, hard look at established shells such as LotB, The Flock, BitS and the others I am forgetting right now if you want to participate in all BST events and can't ATM for whatever reason. See if the rules, event times, environment fits your playstyle and ask if making the sacrafice of changing servers is worth it.
Hell, if I get the opportunity to change worlds for 90 days and can switch back for $50 bucks, I would JUMP at the opportunity to do 90 days of all BST insanity! Guess we will have to see the restrictions...
Now comes to present day. LotB is considered (and its an honor for this thought, not trying to be arrogant) the pioneers of the all BST movement. We were one of the first to attempt and beat stuff all BST, along with original shells like SixAxeArmy, FunwithJugs, etc. We had visions of Voltron, as Krog would put it, where we get several shells together, all on one hand selected server. You know, "I'll for the feet!", "And I'll form, the head!!" where we were all strong "tigers" individualy, we all get that really cool sword to appear from thin air if we all join.
However, it became apparant that merging shells was likely not going to happen. Sure, people individually were going to migrate (and I would still recommend it) but the massive shift looked dead in the water. People are tied to there server, its understandable. That's where this idea came from. Siviard's comments are only a small part of the equation. The bigger part is having a massive pool of like-minded BST all on one server.
That's where this idea came in. LotB could also be pioneers in this arena too. I froth at the mouth (can't figure out if it is excitement or rabies) at the thought of combining LotB, The Flock and BitS (hint hint Graelinn and Erci ~_^) into one massive, destroy the game LS. That is the reason the idea was even floated.
Its not a definate, its just an idea. We are hoping to finalize the decision in there near future cause the last thing we want is people to move to Shiva only to find Shiva has moved.
