I haven't logged on since May 2011 so I wasn't sure what to expect upon returning. My current BST level is 90 and I have no knowledge of how the game works at the moment. Are xp parties still the norm in Abyssea? Or do ppl just farm and get xp while farming for pops there? I had a ton of jobs at lv90 when I quit, but I'm looking to stick with BST for my main now. Basically I want to do cool stuff on BST solo primarily that we couldn't do years ago. I really enjoyed Ready and BST's newer traits before I quit, but honestly I don't have an idea where to start with our juggies. Right now I'm going though trial and error, but I'd like some general advice. I'm not sure I'll buy the new expansion and charming there isn't a top concern. I want to see if I'll stick around first. Thanks guys... BST SUXX!

The best places to get exp would be worm parties in aby La Theine or doll parties in aby Altepa. You can also do leech parties in Bostaunieux Oubliette if you don't want to waste stones but the exp is not as good.

As for pets the big 4 are Faithful Falcor, Dipper Yuly, Gooey Gerard and Gorefang Hobs. Falcorr and Yuly are very similar, they're both THF pets who come with TH1 and high evasion, in my experience Falcorr does a little more DMG but Yuly has slightly better EVA. Both are very versatile pets though who can do almost everything you'll want to do as BST. Gerard comes with MDB so I default to him when fighting magic heavy mobs (apart from wind as Yuly has wind resistance and takes laughable damage from wind based magic) Gerard is also super cheap to both make and buy from the AH. He doesn't get TH like the other two but he's one **** of a tank on some mobs. Hobs is your best DD pet, I use him for worm parties in La Theine usually, sometimes he can be good for farming as he kills faster than the other pets but doesn't come with TH, so it's a trade off,

In my opinion for a leveling BST wanting to gear I'd put dynamis gear ahead of aby gear, with fully upgraded and augmented relic legs, hands and feet coupled with a couple of -11% PDT axes and Ducal Guard atma you can solo almost everything in Aby from zone bosses to cats to 5/5 Ferine +2. With a couple of weeks effort doing dynamis and magian trials BST can become amazing in Aby.

Good Luck!!.

Thanks for the great info man. It's been awhile, but isn't Bostaunieux Oubliette the dungeon under Sandy? I'm confused...The pet suggestions were helpful. I got to play with Yuly before I quit, she was my TH *****. I love the choices we have now. I have Monster gear from dynamis already, I suppose you mean the upgraded version?

"you can solo almost everything in Aby from zone bosses to cats to 5/5 Ferine +2."

I have one -dmg axe at lv90 and the other one I worked on today finished the aqua path so lv85 for that one. I have a few of the seals for ferine, but nothing else for the gear.

last question, what about ks30, ks99, Gods in sky/sea and all the old stuff. I'm looking for stuff to have fun with at their expense of laughing at them. I would love to trash Byakko for fun if possible. Already have the pants, but would be fun just the same.

Yup, Bostaunieux Oubliette is the dungeon in Northern Sandy, there is usually a GoV alliance there killing leeches. And yes to the gear question as well, you'll want to make the +2 hands as a priority, up to you if you augment them but certainly get the +2 version. The feet are an amazing reward piece and worth getting +2 and augmenting, the legs are decent at +2 but after augmenting them you get 10% haste for your pet, which is very nice.

The only BCNM fight I've solo'd on BST personally is Horns of War, it's not too hard to keep Gerard alive but you have to be careful not to get KO'd yourself, the mob likes to cast Meteor and it's radius is huge so keep RR up.

I haven't bothered with any Sky gods to be honest but I'd think they are soloable these days with the exception of Kirin (I think it can be solo'd on BST but it's really difficult) and Suzaku might give you a headache with Chainspell but you could always kite or spam Mulsums. The rest shouldn't be too difficult I woudln't have thought,

In Sea you won't be soloing AV or JoL anytime soon but I'm sure some of the lesser NM's are soloable, UFO's most certainly are by many jobs at 99, not just BST but remember to fight them over land not water and keep out of AoE charm range as much as possible.

Thanks again for all the advice. I've just started to mess with my gear and macros again since I had to reinstall. I was playing BST last night when I noticed Snarl wasn't working like I remember it. I could of sworn I could land a WS early on, snarl the hate away and the pet could hold it somewhat. Please tell me they didn't nerf snarl in the last 2 years?

They changed enmity so snarl is not nearly as effective.

Oh well, I guess it's noticeable enough of a nerf that even I could eyeball it even after 2 years. Why in the **** did they nerf it, it's not like people can really abuse it.

In regards to Kirin, does anyone here have any experience/advice soloing it? Im interested in doing so but its risky losing the seals too.

I don't think Kirin is solable mostly because of his summons. I think dual box is possible though in theory.

It is soloable, but difficult.

they didn't nerf snarl par se - they changed the way enmity works for everything. This had the (in my view, unfortunate) side effect of vastly reducing the effectiveness of snarl.

Kirin at most can be triod, just did it the other night. It's sad really. A god who used to wipe alliances now picked on by 3 BST. He's able to get at least 2 summons off, but one BST can take it out resume killing Kirin. Fight takes 10 mins maybe 15.
