There's a sexist joke in there and I've gone into quip overload.

I actually did the 4-6 hours of sleep on a good day thing for a few years back during Vanilla/TBC/first tier WotLK. I was spending around nine and a half hours a day on work and another eight to ten hours a day playing WoW or watching anime. I'd sleep for about four hours, from about 1pm til 5pm, wake up, order a pizza so they'd deliver me a 2 liter of Dr Pepper. If raids/dungeons got out early, I'd nap for up to two hours more before work.

Gained almost ninety pounds over those few years.

How do you function on such little sleep? I've noticed such a big dip in my brain's productivity...
So, while not the target for your question, in answer to your question, a two liter of Dr Pepper at night and perhaps another 1-2 20oz sodas at work got me through my screwed up priorities period.

Hope you find a solution that helps you get the sleep you actually want.

Holy hell Pold, that sounds awful.

I've actually sort of slept this weekend. I mean, I got a full night sleep Friday night, and I slept through to my normal time this morning (but went to bed much later, so only got like 4 hours). I'm just hoping the trend of sleeping through continues.

Usually I'll get up and go lay on the couch instead. A change of venue often helps me drop off. Helps that the couch is question is my nappin' couch.

I don't sleep much during the night either. A few years ago, I worked a fun 9PM-5:30AM shift for a while. It seriously screwed up my sleep patterns to the point where I still can't get to sleep before midnight at the earliest. Most nights I'm usually awake until two or three in the morning, which is great fun when I have to wake up at five. The best thing I've found is to watch something uninteresting on TV or reread a book. The idea is to basically turn my mind off and I can eventually get to sleep. I've gotten used to not sleeping during the week by drinking unhealthy amounts of Monster (some of their newer flavors are pretty damn good, they don't taste like energy drinks at all), and by sleeping in to a ridiculous degree on the weekends.

Since your problems are anxiety based, that probably won't work for you. You really should see a doctor. A low dose of Ativan will probably do the trick.
