The option to trade back relic weapons for ancient currency :: Final Fantasy XI

It would be nice to be able to trade back semi upgraded relic weapons in return for the ancient currency that was spent on it. For example: trading in a dynamic lance would give back hotspur lance w/ 16 L. Jadeshells and so on. Items that were used in the upgrade would be lost. Empyrean weapons have killed most relics in performance. Wishful thinking.

I think this would be a huge incentive for people who quit the game with a half finished weapon to come back. I know at least three personally who got to the third or fourth stage and had to quit for real life. (Now, smart folks don't upgrade to stage three unless they have the coins for at least stage four, but not everyone thinks these things through.)

It'd also be great for people who changed their mind and decided to do a different weapon.

I really don't think people care enough about the weapon skills except for one person that I know of now.

The only major road block I see against this is square getting the idea OMG people can switch relics on the fly! Ignoring the week and a half in waiting periods and the magain quests to get it up to level 95 now.

I am certainly on the fence about it myself.

Rocking Phantasy star online 2. And loving it! Hopefully sega get's it right this time. They are having a much better start this go around then Universe but still a ways off calling it a hot contender in today's MMO market.

I could have seen that being a problem when the level cap was 75. But now you need to upgrade relics once you have it in order to get the most out of it. I would imagine if this did become a reality you would lose your trial progress of 80, 85 and sopb on. Who is to say that some sort of rule couldnt be applied that when you have completed the final stage you can't reverse it.

Or just make it to where you don't get a full currency return. Hotspur lance to dynamic lance is 16 jadeshells, maybe just getting 12 back would work. Only gaining back 75% of each stage.

I was thinking this would only apply to stages 1-4, not completed weapons.
