Errors when postingFollow

So lately the site has been SUPER slow, especially when it comes to posting replies on a thread.

Over the last few days, I've seen delays up to nearly a minute when hitting the Post button. Usually when this happens I get an error page that complains about a Proxy Error (I'm not using a proxy). The kicker there is that the post goes through when this happens. While it's deciding whether to error me out or not, I also can't visit any other Zam page until it's done.

Looks like this has gotten a lot of attention

Anyway I managed to snag the error message this time:

Your bloody server wrote:
Proxy Error

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request POST /fcluster/Post.pl.

Reason: Error reading from remote server

I'm not using a proxy server (do people still do that?) and this only ever happens here, so it's you.

Also ignoring the problem hasn't made it go away.

I'm getting the above error today along with multiple other errors. The site is almost unusable at the moment, sigh.

Thanks, I've passed along these errors to ZAM. They are aware of them and look to fix the site problems at some point.

So... what, 7 months later and it still isn't fixed? lol.

The site still takes ages to load and every other time I attempt to post or edit, I get the aforementioned errors constantly.

What gets me is that it is like clockwork, where the server refuses to respond for ~30 seconds every 5 minutes, like clockwork.

EDIT: And just after posting this, like 5 min later, now it's failing to load the CSS so the actual forums are unreadable gibberish. cute.

This has been reported so many times I lost count long ago. The problem is most likely with the design of the site some where that requires a developer to rewrite code or completely replace it with something else. The 30 second timeout is most likely a query that is stuck and is taking all the resources of the SQL server to process it so we have to wait until that query hits the 30 second timeout in order for it to release the SQL server. This problem has been going on for well over a decade from what I've seen from past double posting. You think it's annoying for you? lol I spend hours on the site updating things and it happens to me many many times in that time frame.

I'll email them again and let them know what's going on, that's all I can do.

So this is obviously still a problem.... but thank GOD the ads are now bypassing ad blockers.

Glad the priorities are in place. Smiley: clown

I'm just glad the site is still running and them giving us the resources we have gotten for a legacy site. All they did before I got them to invest resources into the site again was just keep the lights on.

Hopefully we can get a full fix for the posting issue in the future.

Actually it's gotten a little worse over the last few days.

Now that your ads are bypassing adblockers they're reloading continuously, creating a TON of input lag on forms as the ads have to be constantly refreshed and reloaded. Furtheremore every post now is accompanied with:

504 Gateway Time-out

The server didn't respond in time.

Followed by at least 2 minutes of ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE codes.

Actually while I've been writing this, the page has loaded at least 5 different ads. Maybe it's some incompatibility with Chrome? I don't know. But it's definitely worse now that they've started "giving you resources"

6 ads.

I'll be honest, I dropped my premium of about 5 years because the site's functionality has been on a steady decline for a long time. This latest development makes me glad I did.

If you are logged in as a premium member, you won't see any ads. I see the you haven't been a premium member since August of 2016.

These posting issues haven't been worked on so that's the reason why they have gotten worse. We're waiting on them to work on it when we are able to get some of those resources.

If you have a complaint about the ads in chrome, send it to ZAM.
