I've just returned from a very long hiatus from FFXI (last played in '06), and couldn't be happier to be back. I've started a new account, and am looking for a friendly in-game community to level, quest, and enjoy the game with. Character name is Thirtythree. Thanks!

I'll be sure to look you up, thank you! I am also in the process of trying to recover my old account. It's been so long that, even if I'm able to recover it, I would likely continue with a fresh new character given that it's much easier to level up now. And my old toon was Galka; I don't want to hinder myself in the caster jobs this time around. It'll be worth my trouble just to get my hands on the old gil/items/professions, though.

Also wondering about race balance these days. Are Galka still heavily disadvantaged in caster jobs, and Taru heavily advantaged/disadvantaged in caster/tank jobs, respectively? Or has that changed? When I last played, it was a wise idea to roll Hume or Elvaan if you wanted to avoid being disadvantaged in any particular class. Could anyone give me a rundown of the current state of the game as it pertains to this, please? Thanks in advance!
