A lone little taru sat quietly on the beach looking up to the night sky he loved so dearly. The moon cast a beautiful glow on the small bay, and the little taru smiled as he watched the moonlight play in the crystal clear water.

For as long as the little taru could remember, even in the darkest of times , that moon had always been there to bathe him in its soothing glow , almost as if it were a guiding light, leading him ever onward whenever he had worries and doubts.

At this thought the little taru frowned. Lately the moonlight he so enjoyed seemed to be there less and less to light the path through the darkness.

Looking back up to the sky, the little taru sighed. His guiding light had faded again, as the fiery sun began to rise in its stead.

A single tear ran down the little taru's cheek and fell to the glistening white sand below. The little taru knew...

... much as the beautiful light of the moon must fade and give way to the dawn , so to must he begin to fade.

The little taru was weary. Many travels and adventures had began to finally take their toll on him. Thoughts of those he held dear and those he had met on his travels raced through his mind. So many beautiful memories forever etched into his heart.

With a tear in his eye, and a small smile on his face, the little taru rose and waved to the world and the people he held so dear. Then the little taru sat back down...

... and began to fade...

This is dedicated to all of the wonderful players and friends we've watched fade away from us of late. I wrote this while sitting on the beach at Purgonogo Isle thinking of all of the friends I've had to say goodbye to in game lately. There have been several times I've contemplated quitting myself. The game just isn't the same without those best friends you made when you first started the game. Thankfully due to a lot of great people that I've met , I'll still be in Vanadiel a while a longer - but I'll always remember those friends that I've lost and the great adventures we shared!

Very nice story. ^^

There are so many people I miss already, and more that I'd be lost without.

Great story!

I understand what you mean, about people going away, from your set PT, from your Linkshell, from the game entirely. I keep a memorial, on my journal for that.

Just don't forget: you do them honor, by remembering them, but don't look backwards all the time, or you just may miss the chance to forge a new friendship.

You can count on Wintaru being here until Bismarck is brought down for good. I may not be on all the time, and you may not all know me, but I'll be here :)

I agree, it's hard watching people you get used to seeing leave, but there are always new friendships to be made ^^

*cries* That was soo bootiful ; ;

I do miss a lot of people that've come and gone. I don't even have the heart to take them off my friend's list, even though I know the name won't pop up "Online".

I hope you never leave lil' cute-aru, cause that'd make a kitty cry.

Kitaru... that was awesome. Sometimes I sit and think of quitting FFXI. I have so much to do as of late: I have a new job (that I love) and will have to be gone for 9 weeks soon because of that job (Police Academy), I am the Father of two wonderful children and have another on the way and I love spending time with them. I have to teach my son Asher to be a man... that my friends, is the hardest job one will EVER have. So, spending time on Bismarck is not on my high priority list... Every time I read a thread like this one, it really does get me all misty eyed. Most of my FFXI friends are also friends IRL as well, I mean I can just drive over to their house and such, but there are those that I may never actually be able to see IRL or to touch IRL (I may be a big mean lookin cop, but I really a teddy bear^^) I would give anything to be able to *HUGGLEZ* people for real. This game has given me the oportunity to meet all kinds of people and forge friendships with them. Merodi has tought me to really appreciate te beauty of this world and has helped me to appreciate the beauty of the real world as well. After all, if a computer generated world is so beautiful... then so must the real world be as well. I have found myself not sending out as many *HUGGLEZ* as I used to, but that also comes from the fact that I have made so many friends it is hard to keep up with them all. I just want to let you all know that I appreciate you and hold you in the highest regard as well. I doubt that I'll ever quit forever... So, until Bismarck fades away from the server list, I will be here. If that day ever comes... there will be an Elvaan THF with a lopsided grin and spikey hair sitting there still joking around as the world fades around him and then Fionchadd will be no more and only Curtis Hart will remain to remember forever times gone but NEVER forgotten. It was said best by the wife of a Turkish soldier: "By God and by God again, my heart burns in the fires of your absence".

So, until then... May your lives forever soar on the wings of eagles.

To have them back
To my friends
I'll be there for you
Be there for me

Awe Kitaru that was the best story ive read on this thread. Its horrible to say goodbye to friends in this game because unlike RL you will never run into them agian.

Thanks for great responses everyone. ^.^

I wrote that story while I was a bit down. I've made a lot of new friends , but since I play at all hours , most of the times that I'm on I've an empty chatlog , one that used to be filled with my little group's chit chat while we partied, explored, and quested for over a year. To me much of the fun is lost if you can't share it. I've only a couple close friends left in game but rarely get to see them.

Then there are the usual frustrations we all go through like getting Genkai 1 completed, and I've practically decided that THE SQUEENIX has forbidden me from getting erase in BCNM battles. I'm now out of seals and my BCNM partners are almost out. (Solrain , Aravan - I can't thank you two enough. These two tried to give me the best drops from the last several BCNM battles so that I could buy the scroll.)

Then there was today. Either sometime this morning or while I was at work tonight being insulted by rude customers while my fellow employees thought it was funny when they accidentally splashed grease from the deepfryer on me (anyone who's worked in fast food will know that deepfry vats aren't fun to play in), I decided that maybe it was time for Kit to hang up his hammer for good. After all why go through a hellish day at work full of frustrations, then come home to log into a game where you've no one to talk to or vent to and only log into another set of frustrations. lol I guess I'm still a bit down XD .

I'm not quitting just yet. I know all to well its easier to hit the delete key when you're upset than when you're calm, and I'd hate to lose Kit just because I had one lousy night XD. I made a promise to do something a while back. It'll take me a week or two to finish that up. That'll give me time to think things through.

Once again thank you for the great responses everyone, and please forgive this little taru's rant on a bad night and an empty chatlog ^.^

Kit, I've got to admit I've been having a lot of fun doing the bcnms with you and Sol. To be honest with you, I know how the quiet chat log thing goes, sometimes its nice and some times its kind of depressing.

As far as work goes, ***** them. You're there to get a job done and get paid. I deal with a lot of different people at work, and well as long as I complete my mission things are straight, if I got to step of a few toes so be it, they'll understand later. Then I go home and forget about them for a few hours. I guess all I can say is take it for what its worth.

As far as that scroll I hear it dropped in price, however I will level every job left through the dunes to get the seals back if I have to, until we get it for you. Sol and I were talking and like I said we're having fun fighting the fight. And for G1 I'm going to push this week as hard as I can to catch up to assist in that.

Keep your chin up little Taru buddy, things will turn around^^

kit, getting erase from worms BCNM 40 in Waughroon shrine is really easy compare to the one in Bhalgas Dhais.

You only need blms and ranger in your party, you can go as your whm as well, but if you got your blm to 40 that would be better.
No need a tank for that just nuke and heal. Bard would be great to add in your party .

Good luck on trying.
