Adaman Cuirass Troubles....Follow

After weeks of farming, mining, fishing, BCNM'ing and other money making methods, I've managed to raise enough gil for my entire set of Adaman gear, even with a few 100ks of extra cash.

Dazed was kind enough to offer me the pieces of Adaman gear that he had at a discounted price from the AH, which helped with the burden of gil raising somewhat. All I had to get was the cuirass and the koenig shield.

The koenig shield was cheaper, so I decided to buy it first, so all I have left to get is the adaman cuirass.

I was enthusiastic the last couple of nights, seeing as I'm on the verge of hitting 73 and finally becoming one of those Purple PLDs. However, the last few items I was hoping to have sold by tonight have gone unpurchased (at lower than AH prices, I might add, for a total of about 700k). Luckily enough a kind WHM in my LS, Lastat, loaned me the 200k I needed to purchase my cuirass for 800k.

I dash to the AH to finally reach one of my long-time goals of having the complete set of Adaman. Theres only one up for auction.

"You were unable to buy the adaman cuirass for 800,000g".

........

I scramble to my mules and scrounge up the scraps of gil they have on them to see if its 30-50k over the regular AH price of 780-800k

810k... unable
820k... unable
830k... unable

I'm starting to get worried, as if I buy any higher, I know the price will stay at that level, and I know my fellow PLDs will have to pay the higher price as I did, and I don't want to give the seller the satisfaction of "ripping someone off". However, I also want to feel the pride of having the full set of Adaman on as I ding 73 surrounded by my friends in my SP.

840k... unable

This is becoming my breaking point... Its now a decision between being poor, not being able to afford food even, or having this piece of armor. I asked if someone else on my LS would hook me up with 100k so I could afford food if I decided to bid any higher and someone agreed.

850k........ unable to buy.

Here is a piece of armor, that sells fairly frequently, maybe once every couple of days. Within the last week more than 7 have been sold, and even some for 780k, and lately the highest has been 800k.

It looks like tonight I'll ding and I'll still be missing the one piece I was hoping I could've had. I refuse to pay any higher simply because it will cause the price to remain jacked up meaning other PLDs have to work just that bit more harder to get their full set of Adaman.

This isn't an issue about gil. I have 700k on the AH currently and there are a few people willing to spare me the gil until my items sell, and I still have plenty more invested in other gear for other jobs/levels. My complaint is 100% about "inflation". There is -no- reason that piece of armor should be put up for any higher than it currently is. I've checked the price of materials, and there is already a profit to be made.

I'm not blaming anyone, I can understand gil can be hard to come by, and I'm not asking for a handout either. I'm asking for people to be reasonable. The reason leaping boots and emperor's hairpin is so much is because -people are unreasonable- and jack the price up 20k-100k every time they see none in stock. I can understand trying to captialize too, but doing-so within reasonable limits helps prevent things from rising in price.

So when you see me in Jeuno running around in my white and purple, instead of all purple, know that I've tried to do my fellow PLDs a service by not making the price of the Adaman Curiasses jump.

Haha....I got a kick out of that. The lvl 62 hume RSE boots showed up on the AH last night, last purchase for 1.2 mil...I bid up to 1.7 mil w/o success, but would go no higher.

Couldn't wait a few more days huh? Were you afraid people would laugh at you?

Aww, don't pick at Aldion. That would be my fault cause I picked at him to just buy it anyways. It seemed so important for him to have it and he's happy. That's all that matters. :)

Yes, its true, I forked over the additional cash ;_;

To be honest, I wasn't very proud of myself when I did it, but as soon as I did I checked who the seller was, hoping I could yell and scream at the person because I was thinking it wasn't the regular crafter person who had sold most of the ones currently up there.

Sadly, it -was- the regular crafter person, (Foresterjun I believe the name is). So, if anything, he wanted to raise the price since he seems to be in control of the adaman cuirasses being sold other than PLDs selling theirs off.

I know through playing PLD, we haven't had to spend fortunes of gil for anything really up until 73. The most expensive item I've ever bought for my PLD before this was my gluttony sword back at level 57, and I know the Espadon +1 is also up there in price as well (I just skipped buying this sword, I liked my gluttony too much). I'm not trying to justify the crafter's motives because we PLDs do have it somewhat easier than most of the other jobs (unless you've gone all-l33t out on +1 gear your entire career) in respect to cost of the job, but that 100k is like 3 stacks of Tavnazian Tacos we all could've had.

So I apologize my fellow PLDs, but it seems this price hike was inevitable.
