I'm bored and saw something simliar on another servers board so whats the first NM you ever saw? mine would be Jaggedy-Eared Jack saw him as lvl 6 RDM thinking it was a regular rabbit i fought it and..got killed easily :X
I saw Leaping Lizzy unclaimed. =P Didn't know she was NM and pretty easy and nice drops. ,_, I was killing a Quadav or something. Then 2 low levels claimed her and they screamed "We're gonna die!" lol.
The first NM I ever saw was also Jaggedy Earred Jack. I was on another server, and brand new to the game so I didn't know what a NM was or even how to /c at that point. I didn't attack him because I assumed it was the next level up of rabbits and the regular ones were still giving me trouble. After I got a few more levels I was like "I'm gonna go find the area with thosse Jaggedy Earred Jacks now, since I'm tough enough for the next rabbits" and of course I couldn't find them. I did see him again before leaving that server when I was some level in the teens. Killed him barely. (I still didn't know what an NM was though) No drop though. It would have been hilarious if I got the drop though because knowing me at that point I probably would have been like "bah, some stupid THF necklace, I guess ill sell this to the guard at the ooutpost"
I my luck sucks with NMs. U guys find em when ur <10 I didnt see my 1st 1 till I was doing the dragon mission as a 25WAR/12MNK
in the giddeus. Of course it w asnt the tormentor 1. I dont remember the name but it dropped an aspir knife. I was so exicted and then my LS told me I couldnt sell it.

lvl 23 or 24 war, on the ship to mhaura for the first time, get to the top deck and Sheppard got beat down.

My...that was a long time ago! Mine was wimpy little Tom Tit Tat on Starfall Hill in W. Saruta. Don't remember what level I was, but it had to have been in late 2003. It was a close fight. 0.o
Oh -- and I got his drop: Fruit Punches Even that early on in the game I wasn't impressed. ^^;

Spiny Spipi was the first NM I ever seen, I don't remember much about him except that I was on my 11 Monk and when I examined it and he came out as Impossible to guage, I ran out of there as fast as humanly possible thinking he was going to aggro me.
I am with Sheppard... The Sea Horror was my first NM. I used to fish Nebs A LOT for $$$ when I first started and it was always hysterical seeing the easy one touch death the Sea Horror imposed on the lowbies. I have a friend, who shall remain nameless to protect the not-so-innocent, who had fun with noobies by raising them only to let them die again alomst instantly... >.> Then there was my one friend who attacked it before I could tell him not to... thank God he was a Galka PLD AND the ship docked before he went into the great beyond!

My first Nm sighting was Bloodtear Baldurf, i was leveling in La Thein when i seen this big *** ram spawn next to me while i was resting my Hp. Than i seen some level 55 Rng try to kill it, well rng wasnt so lucky. Than a 60 pld got aggroed by it, so they started to fight it, so i was like kool imma go watch him kill that ram. Im standing there watching the fight when all of a sudden Bloodtear did a move that like shortend my Hp, i was like ah no big deal. When all of a sudden the pld shouts "RUN AWAY" and as he said that the ram killed him, after killin the pld it decided to chase me, so i start runnin, im like yeah i got a way, than out of nowhere the ram ran me over killin me instantly. (Ram musta laced its Nike Air's to catch me cuz i kinda had a headstart)

Mine was Tom Tit Tat, back when I played during beta. I was a lvl 2 or 3 Taru blm at that point, and I was in a party with a Galka War and another Taru, I forget which job. We were just running around, killing whatever we saw, and then the Galka provoked Tom Tit Tat.
"Ooh, this one is special, I bet it gives more exp!"
As little as I knew about the game at that point, I realized that NMs at that level was a bad idea. I let out a hearty "Nooooooo!" but it was too late. The other two were quickly defeated, and I followed soon after. Getting my *** kicked by Tom Tit Tat is still one of my favorite memories from this game.

Mine was this orc in Ghelsba, down by the river, the one that spawns by that hut, after that i saw the warmachine one from the cave.

Eyy Mon the Ironbreaker. NM yag. That was the first NM I BEAT. The first one I saw, though, was the Sea Horror. I've seen altogether too much of the sea &%$%^# horror. (A friend of mine has a pearl to an LS: WePokeSeaHorrors)
Mine was Rampaging Ram. Back then I thought Impossible to Gauge was the level above Incredibly Tough. Needless to say I ran as fast and as far as I could (N. Gusta LoL)
The first one I saw and beat was Stinging Sophie. I was determined to kill a big bad NM, so I hunted her down, and I even got the drop. For some reason, it was one of my happiest moments ever while playing FFXI. It just seemed like a really big deal at the time.
Now I farm beechips in that area regularly, and I've killed Sophie 22 times now. So it's not a big deal anymore, but it was the first time I saw her.

First NM I encountered was Bigmouth Billy in East Ron. I actually got aggro'd by at level 7 and was under the impression that this was just an over grown worm that belonged to some event or quest... Didn't have time to /check it cause I died fairly quick to it. The most memorable NM, and the 2nd one I ever saw was the allmighty Sea ***** on my very first trip to Mhuara as a level 18 war with no sub.

First NM i ever came across was stray mary. Never saw it coming. I was lvling war for my future job (Paladin) and was simply owning ep sheep. I was a bit tired when fighting them and came across mary. I began the fight thinking it was a normal sheep (I was fairly new to the game) whooped it down and saw people clapping at me. I was confused at first until i scrolled my chat window up and saw what i fought. Great thing was is I got the horn. Of course, not knowing what it was I thought nothing of it. That is until i got to the AH and saw it selling for 150k! :D
First NM i fought... and killed... AND got the drop was Spiny Spipi.
I was like lvl 20-25 war and was helping a friend to hunt for it. I had never met an NM and i knew little about it. All i knew was that it dropped a good "thingie"
After like 30 mins i saw, i fought and i conqured the ****!
I asked my friend what to do now (he was sitting beside and didn´t see me killing it) and after he scrilled the log and saw "Mist silk cape" he ran around screaming and jumping and i was like "WTF?"
Later on he told me that it was worth "alot!"... now i make that kind of cash when i "go out farming while waiting for party" :P

Mine was Roc as I was riding to Garlaige for a party. I have yet to fight it yet, though.

Steelfleece Baldarich on my first ever trip to the dunes, i walked up to it and watched it pwn some drg who's name i can't remember lol, it aggro'd and killed me a lot faster then the drg thou ^^;

He was standing a few "feet" away from the bastok entrance!
I didn't know he was a NM at first. I checked him and found ou that he was. I killed him pretty easily, no drop...
I've killed him about 15 times since then and only 1 drop.

The first NM i saw was Stinging Sophie.... i probably was about level 7 or so and this galka comes running around saying if you see this thing called Stinging Sophie let him know... well i though it was the name of a NPC or sumthin... shortly after the galka went to fight him and ALMOST killed him... to bad he didnt.. because then i came and stole the kill... haha.. I got the Dagger too.
heh first nm i saw was before i even knew there was such a thing as nm's. I was on my choco ridding to dunes *shiver* to level my subjob *shivers again* and randomly checking sheep out of boredom i checked one that said impossible to gauge... it was stray mary ^^

Day one of Usa release... I foudn myself in East ron lost as a newborn... I found Big Mouthed Billy and was horribly beaten into submission by a worm
yup... as soon as I was back at my home point I was a /shouting
