Earlier this year I quit playing FFXI and moved on to WoW about 2-3 months ago.
As i progressed through the game I found it becoming more and more of a struggle.
Things just always seemed to take forver to do.
At level 60 it seemed that I would have to put in almost 3-4 hours of gametime (constant exp grinding) to get 1 level.
Certian rank missions and quest needed alliances to complete and gathering these alliances takes very long in some cases.
I hear they added a few things since I was gone,
less exp to get to your next level? How is that working out.
The final straw when it came to deciding if or not I should leave or not came when I decided to farm fuma kyahan and O-kote for my ninja, I spent a month competing against the gilsellers Koyeuse and Dworkore and only received the fuma.
How is the gilseller situation? I was hoping some of them would move on to the newer MMO, WoW, guildwars and Matrix online and leave FFXI in peace... wishfull thinking?
Also the outrageous AH prices.. How are they now?
when I left O-kote were at 1.5 mill.
I have an urge to come back but it was so hard to quit in the first place... :(

I think FFxi is one of those games that when you walk away you shouldnt look back! The game has gotten to the point where it is purely just habbit for me, or even addiction. I dont like having to depend on others, but you cant get much accomplished in this game without help >< so I find my self wasting a lot of time in game doing irrelevant things. If you really have the urge to return, the xp system is a bit friendlier, but gil sellers have the O-Kotes and other items on lock. Which makes it hard to get gil. GL in whatever decision you make^^
Has anyone heard of a Challenge? Isn't that why we play Games?
This is a very social game, SE made it that way. So, you are gonna have a "society" living in Vana D. You have to take the good with the bad. IRL we have scam artists, thieves, etc.; but there are an equal number of good folks!
Don't base your decision on coming back on how hard you'll have to work...make the choice because you will have fun doing it =)

Well, if you want to interact with people then there isn't much point to playing any MMORPG game.
I kinda dislike how big of a parties SE made it necessary for certain rank missions and quests. I think 3 is really a perfect number. It isn't so hard or bad to find 2 other available people. If they could scale the missions/quests so that they can accomadate several people by bumping up the difficulty of the boss or pushing it down, it would be cool. It seems to only be easy to get large amounts of people if the quest is new... like for events or for when CoP was just released. I'm kinda stuck at not having any of the CoP done and gone are the days where there were lots of people in Jeuno shouting to do them and LS doing runs all the time.
You could come back while the offer is godo to reactivate your account... and then decide to leave again if all the reasons you decide to leave were still in effect.

i hate those gil sellers in castle O. i used to get at least 1 pair of O kote every week before those bastards moved into castle O, now it isnt even worth camping then cause those 2 characters are player by multiple people and are there 24 hours a day and never leave. isnt even worth camping kote with them there, and as sad as it is SE isnt doing anything about them as far as i know.
and FYI O kote are at 2m now.
and the reduced xp really doesnt make much of a difference unless your lv55-65 where the bulk of the xp was removed/moved around. the TNL is still in the 20 to 40 thousand range between 55-75, and your still only gonna level up every couple days at higher levels.

FFXI has a habit of taking over your life, I think I will pop back on but not let this happen... As soon as I feel myself becoming addicted I think then its time to leave.
Besides its really hard to give up everything I have worked for..

I miss all my friend dearly, but I'm enjoying the game again. Next time i'm on Cerby I'll send ya a /befriend so we can keep in touch^^; miss you hun~

Laago!! Thanks for helping me with Rank 4 Delkutt's Tower stuff back in the day. I burned myself out farming up gil and ended up not playing for quite a while, prolly around 2 months or so. I found a joy for the game once again, but I also rediscovered RL during my break. I play only one or two nights a week now and I am loving it. Anyway, its a fun game if you have nothing else to do, otherwise, RL pwns FFXI.

so many more RL commitments... I even have a nice tan O_O
and a cute lady friend who looks like zelda...
Anyway...
Vanadiel has changed since I been away... Everyone seems a bit grumpy.. I remember I was in a exp party the other day no one said a word to anyone that wasnt party related... No random chatter about what people are having for tea etc.. just things like "MP ok" and "AFK" and the usual party macros..
Was kinda sad looking back on it. But now my goal is to never have a party like that again and spread some joy to the world...
So yea im back with a better outlook on life and err.. stuff.
Most likely to find me on sundays mondays and tuesdays cos thats when I play. I play for a few hours before I sleep so thats about 12 GMT... Dunno what that is in other times so if you wanna chat or say hi just look me up.
Currently spreading joy and flirting with the ladies of Vanadiel.
