worst jp party i have ever had ><Follow

#1 Jul 06 2005 at 7:18 PM Rating: Decent
i bartend, so im usually on jp hours. I am 59 pld on the job im levling right now. I /sea all rdm 58-61 and find one to invite, he says (I dont speak english) ok? I say ok invite him, and pass him ldr, since its jp hours, and they will say no to a na invite. Luckily he gets a jp who speaks english, not great, but more than enough to get the point across. Pt is pld, rdm, whm, smn, rng. Any guesses on the last job they got?

they got a nin. Ok so right off the bat i am insulted. I felt like they thought since i was na pld, i couldnt hold hate? Anyways i have also heard jp like to chain vt mobs. Nope pt is 57-59 and we head to labrynth and take torama's. 220-250 per mob, not a single c-1 all night. The mob kept spaming silence and paralyze, but i kept him facing me and away from pt so only i was effected. The whm would not silnea or paralyzna me. I have to beg the smn to help me out, since he is the one who speaks english.

He starts saying see good thing we have nin as back up tank. Well yeah, when paralyze makes me lose every job ability i have, and then suddenly im silenced and cant cast spells, how am i supposed to hold hate?

Names are not important. They were certainly not what i consider good players, but regardlss we manged to have fun, well me and the smn were joking at least, and in the end that is all that matters. But i have two quick questions if anyone can help. First, has anyone else ever been in a pt with nin and pld before? post 37 i mean.

and second, the smn who spoke some english kept saying tunk instead of tank. Would i have been rude to have corrected him? would he have been insulted? I didnt say anything because i was gratefull that he was trying to talk to me. I'm just not sure if he would have been happy to know correct spelling, or consider it me making fun of him.

anyways in the end pt for like 2 hours, and got 1200 xp. yup horrible. But like i said, it was better than sitting in jeuno all night at least.

JP PTs are not neccessary good. At your level, you should not be exping in L. of Onzozo.

There are really good JP players, so are really good non-JP players. But due to play experience -- JP players tend to have an advantage in playing skill, but there are clearly JP noobs too.

Yeah i think i came here as rng at 62 or so. It's funny though, everyonr talks about jp being uber, these guys were hacks. First pt i have had since dunes i think that never even got a c-1. But to be honest, i dont get invites with pld. I took a break while i was trying to find help with af body ad lvld rng some more. I have af body now, and i cant get invites and hit 60 to wear it ><. so all in all i had fun, died once, but it was entertaining, and certainly more nejoyable then sitting in jeuno and complaining. any thoughts on correcting the spelling of the jp? Being in an all jp pt it was very nice to have someone who could speak to me. I was afraid if i told him he spelled it wrong, he would quit talking to me. Oh well, amanada while i dont know if we have met in game or not, i have seen a million of your posts on here. I hope that rl is going well for you.

I dunno, it could just be because I'm a BLM, but I managed to have some of the best parties ever with JP. Best one ever was in Kuftal tunnel, one person spoke english, Marthastewart the BRD (who was exceedingly rude to me that night, but thats another story).

I went from @3000 53 to @3000 54, which was especially nice. O also managed to land a very nice party as DRG also, found a nice spot in Crawler's Nest and got like 10k exp. Party ended when both people who could raise died...(>< deathwarp)

dont get me wrong, i have had some insane jp pts. And it just makes sense jp are sometimes better, they have been playing longer, and know more than we do. I was only the pt last night was for the most part unknowedgable about their jobs and thier prospective roles in a party. I mean hell they had a pld and nin in the same pt. By filling the last slot with nin, you lost any decent sc's. anyways, once again i will pose the question if you think the jp would have been insulted if i corrected his spelling, or if he would have been happy to know correct spelling. I was afraid to chance it. He kept saying his english was very poor, yet he was able to not only talk with me, also joke with me. Which was a nice change to the screen of foriegn charecters scrolling by, as they never used auto-translate.

I do think one thing JP does well is team work and tactics. They plan PTs much more carefully, and are more tolerante to more junior players. Eltism runs a little less intense in JP PTs too.

That does not mean NA PTs are bad. The really super umber good NA pts beats the best JP PTs anytime. But such PTs are very exclusive unless you are high level. But sometimes in HL PTs I find people talk a lot about drama, so-so suck type of stuff a lot. Something I really do not like.

I hope I do not turn this to a JP vs NA thread. Smiley: deadhorse
I have met really aggroant and annoying JPs before, so I have met really nice JPs. It sucks when you go to main forums that you see all the time : Blame the JP or gil sellers for botting or overcamping NMs type thread... Let's not get to Cerberus dramas from here.

I dont like jp party... cos I suffer from paranoia when i am with them... I always think they are talking about me.
Probably saying "Hey that Laago fella sux lol lol lol" in japanese.... which comes out me me as...

"amklmsanaf Laago aldkdm'almf w w w"

Then they point.. and laugh...

And i die a little inside.

But hey I guess they feel the same about us sometimes.

I encourage people to talk to JP more, and learn more about Far Eastern langauge and culture. I do not understand why people presume JPs hate NAs. Claiming all JPs are racist, botters or whatever will just make the difference more.

Ok Let this stop... And Laago, the way you think is a really bad approach. If you do not think that way, and do your job as a responsible and nice player in the game, there is no way you need
to worry about that.

as a side note, the jp you see that say (english) pt (thanks for the offer but ill have to pass), are normally the once who dont speak english. I have yet you meet a jp player who could speak english and would not pt with na. jp have a different style of play. Not saying one style is better than the other. I am saying that when you dont have a common language, its hard to explain.

But yeah i always hope they arent talking bad about me too. So before you bash anyone for saying no to and na pt, think about it from thier perspective. If you have ever had pts where no one spoke any enlgish, its very lonely.

They talk a whole lot, use lots of ^^ or what ever faces they do so you can tell the general mood per say, buy you dont know what they are saying. Also if you have not tried the general jp approach to xp, give it a shot. Less xp per mob sure, like a monk does less damage per hit. But you ever check the dot. (/point Kreuk) dear god><.

even at 60 i like to pt in cape over valley of s. there is a rock you can camp at north of the beach you enter te tunnel for valley at. I have to fricking beg people and plead with them to try it. But chains add up fast, and when you never ever run out of mobs to kill, hey im loving it!

I think most players regardless of nation are nice, but players of any nations have the right to choose if they want to play with their own national group.

Initally when NA first come to FFXI, I think most JPs (not all) are actually quite open minded. But some bad elements in between different player groups soured the relationships, and the distance between JPs and NAs widen.

There is also a paranoid mentality among some people that no willing to play with them or not understanding what they say equate to racism/bias -- a very bad artifiact from the 60-70s American politics during the period of Senator McCarthy and M L King JR when the lack of understanding/political-racial difference equates enmity and strife. And a lot of such frustration are actually breeds from inability to get help or elitism from fellow NAs. The fact you still see people think "J*p" is an approiate word when told it was not the right word to use or making fun of the word "onry" show the altitude a lot of people.

Such barrier will never cease nor end... If people ever been to Washington -- you can see severe segeration in the city. Segeration due to racial and language is a fact of life. Just deal with it. In DC, at least most people speak the same language and do have some common ground in culture. Far Eastern language and culture are very different. That is simply a fact.

To emphasize the obvious..if that was an all NA PT, you would have had say in what area to go to because you're the tank. A 59PLD would worry about rather they can handle those hard as hell toramas(and hope to God, you have a whm that is fast with silena and paralyna) and otherwise demanded to PT in VoS, or Terrigan til 60. Or~~ take on gobs in LoO til 61, then try Toramas..

Anyway..you learned that not all JP players are xp gods.

Heck I dont get in JP Parties. Instead I get:

/tell JP PT Leader : Katakana here (PT~katakana here) 6o-61
/tell Elathia : {Yes, Please}
/tell JP PT Leader : ^^; {I'm sorry} {English}{I don't understand}

Ill actually talk about the subject here with ninja and paladin in the same PT. JP players tend to have much more unconventional parties than us US players. I would hazard a guess that there's less JP players available, so they try to do more with what's available. It could also be that the NIN was a friend of theirs and maybe friendship is more important to them than exp. (Imagine that)

I once was hunting a NM in Quicksand caves in a somewhat remote spot, when a JP exp PT came to lvl. Their setup would be extremely unusual to NA players. They had no WHM or RDM and they had a DRK tank. It was DRK/WAR, THF/NIN, RNG/NIN, BRD/WHM, SMN/WHM, BLM/WHM. The DRK never lost hate. I guess the point is that they are more willing to expirement with different job combos than NA players for the most part, and NA is more likely to make cookie cutter PTs.

If there's a NIN and a PLD in the same PT I think the PLD should tank and the NIN just equip DD gear. All NIN bring DD gear to parties, and shouldn't be offended if asked to play that role. The gear is available out there to have NIN equal the damage of just about any other job out there, its just that its very under-utilized because they bring more to a party as a tank, since NIN and PLD are often in short supply. (Check items like NIN AF2 Koga Chainmail and tell me what damage dealer wouldn't want to use that)

Sorry the dead horse police came to stop your topic before it was even discussed.

well it was during jp hours that this happened, as i bartend and am on mostly during jp hours, and the nin was a back up tank not a dd. should have subed thf rng or blm but not war. Im all for unconventional parties, but this one sucked. Oh well. I still had fun, and yes i have been trying to learn small phrases in jp. But yes with an na pt we could have discussed where to pt, but i was so thankfull to even get an invite i didnt care i thought we were way to low. The rdm got argo 5 times trying to get to camp too.

Well rebelya /war is actually the best subjob for a DD'ing NIN (and to be more specific its really the highest damage output for any mele period - the reason people sub THF and NIN on DD mele's isn't for damage output but for safety - a samurai subbing RNG is a possible exception)

NIN/THF is extremely low damage output - /THF really is only helpful for planting spike hate onto the tank or a subtank and keeping it off yourself (its a great sub for drk's because they are all about spike damage.) SA adds a bit more damage to your WS and you won't miss, but your Damage over the course of the fight is lower, not to mention that /war can actually outdamage a SATA WS - ill explain why further down.

NIN/RNG - for all the attention this combo gets its not actually a viable DD'er in most circumstances. Shurikens are extremely rare and expensive (fuma shuriken have no price history in jeuno on cerberus - look up their recipe and you'll see why. I am told they stack to 12 but can't verify that as I've only held one ever.) As for using a gun, the only semi-decent gun a NIN can use is the Coffinmaker (and even that is a pretty weak gun compared to what RNG are using at that level) which is not available until sometime in the 70's. Not to mention the fact that NIN can't even use silver bullets anyway, and most gun damage comes from the ammo. As for a Bow, this is NIN's worst ranged skill and we can only use shortbow types anyway. Not viable.

/WAR is the highest damage output potential period. It adds a attack bonus after level 60, and Berserk after level 30, double attack at 50, not to mention the base STR. With sub WAR when you do a multi-hit WS like NIN's Blade:Jin double attack can go off inside the WS. Add that to the fact that NIN have extremely high critical hit rate and you will see Blade: Jin's with berserk, double attack, and criticals outdamaging a SATA Blade: Jin. (I have had plenty 1,000 plus damage Blade: Jin's when I use DD gear as /war.)

For FFXI, some basic Japanese knowledge will be extremely helpful. But in general, I think everyone should pick up a 2nd (or even a 3rd language if you have the time). English is my second language, and Japanese is my third ^^;;;;;

I've had my share of "No thanks, JP only" but most of the time it's not a problem. I've been leveling my blm with some LS members the past few days, a nin, war, brd, and blm, so we usually pick up a ranger and a healer and go kill stuff. being around lvl 60 we decided to get a party that can xp in sky, because, well it's freakin awesome XP at this level. luckily the warrior I party with (Belmont) is rather fluent in Japanese, so getting "jp only" hasn't been very hard, but even without that, having a good invite /tell can work.

/tell XXX (sky)(Experience Points) (Interest)? nin,war,rng,blm,brd

a big part of making a good party is finding members who can make a good skillchain, I hate when people invite like thf and drk to the same party and are like, oh,lets do light! It just don't work. Get a skillchain chart!!! Also certain jobs are good certain mobs. Rangers are good against flies and soft stuff, monks are good on bones and lizards. stuff like that can help you make a successfull party. Also, this is a thing people seem to have a hard time understanding, the whole replacement thing. This is not a common practice at all in JP parties, infact i've never seen it happen ever. Usually if a member must leave, the whole party disbands. Sometimes I really wish people would do this instead of prolonging what could me a rather bad party.

^Or sleep.

I feel so trapped in a PT cause I can't replace myself. >_<

Ama..my second language is a dead language. Nobody speaks latin anymore and I forgot most of it. If I wanted to learn Romaji, it would not swing well with the JP players, they for the most part ignore romaji(because it is *gasp* japanese in ENGLISH format). That junk you typed, I dont even know how to get my computer to type out those symbols.

*Throws more excuses at him*.

And if someone uses that dead horse icon one more time, I will beat them with the dead horse.

Blarg, I tried to do it anyway and forgot I'm not a premium member anymore.
