worst jp party i have ever had ><Follow

One thing I've noticed with Japanese people (both those I've met with in RL and in game) is that while they may not speak and write English very well - MOST of them actually READ English VERY VERY well. It's required in many of their schools. So don't be talking about JP players in your party - chances are they will understand at least some of what you are talking about - and it won't make your JP partying exp any easier.

I was in a very good JP party last night for about 6 hours. We totally raked in the exp in Yhoator Jungle - and we were using 2 Warriors as Tanks - which is almost unheard of anymore, at least in most of the parties I've been in lately. Party setup was Thf (party leader and good friend of mine), Whm (me), Blm, Smn, War, War. Everyone but me and my friend were JP-only - and we did really well. The one problem we had was when our Summoner somehow aggro'd an Ivory Lizard (still have NO idea how that happened - probably a mis-target) died on the way to the zone, I went to raise him - and the lizzie went back and killed everyone else. >< Woops! Honest mistake on multiple parts (I place the blame on me, but nobody else did ^^) but thankfully I didn't die so I was able to raise everybody.

Everyone got at least 2 levels - one person got 3, and then the THF and BLM left, I was leader, and I replaced them with NIN (JP)and BLM(NA), and we had a great time getting lots more exp, until everyone was just ready to leave.

So with the use of Autotranslate and patience and understanding, I was able to get the JP Nin to join our party, and we had a lot of fun. Although I was a bit worried that our Galka War was saying mean things about me since I didn't understand what he was saying...until he started pulling when my friend left and I realized he was using his pulling macro on me! ^^

Amanada is right though - learning ANY other language (I speak English and Russian myself) really makes you a lot more tolerant and patient with language barriers. That goes for EVERYBODY no matter where you live. JP players should learn another language if they don't know one, NA players should learn some...etc etc. Speaking Russian has actually gained me some really good friends in FFXI lol. SO - yeah...I'm done.

I'm not on your server but this caught my eye. ^^ I play a lot during JP times as well and in my experience with partying with Japanese players, I've used my limited romanji to communicate with them. I don't have the function of writing kanji (though I wish I did), but from experience with other programs that use the kanji feature, the japanese do write in romanji as they type. With a combination of using space/tab (depends on the program) it turns into kanji.

It's nice to be able to say things to Japanese in at least romanji so they know that you appreciate being in their party even if you can't commonicate fully. I was once in an all japanese party and to start off I said "Hajimemasite minna-san" which means "Nice to meet all of you". In most cases, I'd get a friendly response from them in return. =)

From my understanding, some Japanese prefer not to use english because they don't have a firm grasp of the language and so don't feel comfortable using it. It's more of a cultural thing really. Japanese don't like feeling embarrassed and avoid situations that would embarrass them. Now, not saying that is true for every Japanese, some are more outgoing than others and like to speak/type english even if they don't know the language fully.

ok so last night i have a mostly jp pt, with 2 members being chinese, or speaking chinese at least, one though is a chinese gil seller. So then some other chinese person /t me asking if i have a gil seller in my pt, i will leave out names, since they are not important. Anyways so this other chinese who /t me, starts telling me how to say stuff in chinese. The gil seller nin tank, was horrible, stuff like not voking until 15 seconds into the fight, so i was saying please provoke when i pull so you are not worthless, and stuff in chinese. Well what ever you would call chinese done with english charecters. was a very fun time, and the rest of the pt loved it.

thread sorta got bent around, was more my comments on a single pt. As with any race/culture/whatever so will have both good and bad. And like most things in life, you shouldnt group everyone in a single category.

Have fun enjoy yourself, and tell everyone that rebellya is desinger brand name and they should have gear made by me too.

Are tanks in such short demand that people are willing to have one as bad as the one you describe? If it's the NIN that I am thinking of... you are like the 5th person this week alone to complain about how poor of a player he is... YET, he keeps leveling on up.

If you really suspected someone's playing skill is really bad -- regardless "gil seller" or not, then just leave PT. You have the right to leave a PT if you are displeased with a certain player imo.

You have to be careful about refering players as Chinese. A lot of people equate Chinese player = gil seller, which is really bad. There are quite a large Taiwan and Hong Kong player population -- not only they do not buy gil, but they are some of the best (and may be the richest) players in the game....

yes this player is a chinese gil seller, but your right, the other members in the pt were hong kong and just spoke chinese. This nin tank in a later post i mention is a gil seller, im almost positve, 72m rank 2 and the skill of well first time through the dunes maybe. I could give names but why? Just a funny story, no point in putting others down.
