Well have your Blue Mage...if that ain't one, then I don't know what that is.

Edit: Images from the new FINAL FANTASY XI expansion, "Treasures of Aht Urhgan," have finally been released to the public at the Tokyo Game Show (September 16-18 )! And soon, players will be able to view a sneak peek of the new content from this site!

This page will continuously be updated with the most up-to-date information on exciting new content from "Treasures of Aht Urhgan," so keep your eyes peeled for more!

- From POL Main page

Just wanted to edit that in, after watching the video again...the expansion is Treasures of Aht Urhgan, and of course there is a huge Pirate ship in the video as well. Will the pirates be playing a much bigger role than the rare occasions you see them in the ferry?

The Pirate Ship looks dilapidated, so certainly looks like undead pirates would be on it, than any of the Pirates from Norg.

New areas? The Mithras true homeland is mentioned in the Tribune. It might not make sense to add another race as it plays an important part of the story, but if they are to show the Mithras true homeland, could this mean the appearance of Male Mithras? Possibly not, since they keep stressing that they are not adventurous, but you never know.

Not to mention all the nice little tidbits given in the tribune about the Far East. Well, hope to see more of this expansion soon.

I began thinking more about how they will implement BLU into the gameplay. How exactly will it learn the moves? If it is by being attacked by the mob, then make it a tank...but if not I began thinking...Ballista.

If you have a BST buddy you can just have his pet gain TP and then use SIC on you. I'm not sure if this will work on Ballista, since I never had a pet use Sic on me. If it's still a viable ability in Ballista, then one can at least gain the abilities of some of the pets accesible through jugs.

Foolish people! That's Elementalist. Take a peek a FFTA sometime. That face shroud thing is the exact same on the AF.

I've played FFTA, and yes it does look exactly as the Elementalist, but if you want to go that way, it looks like NIN also from FFTA.

I sure don't remember a spider web to be part of the elements though. Must be a special FFXI type element :P

Not long after this thread was made, I went forum hunting on other web sites regarding any more scoops on this deal.

Killing Ifrit posted a new Blue Mage forum the same day, albeit with a disclaimer of "...or whatever the new job ends up being."

Somepage posted roughly translated reports from Japanese web sites covering the Tokyo Game Show as well as a link to the new official Trailer for Treasures of Aht Uhrgan with English language text.

Finally, James Mielke, known by the character names Milkman and Gyogi on the Siren server, wrote his 1up.com preview for the Xbox 360 version of FFXI and confirmed the video showed the Blue Mage (note: you may need to create an account to view the 1up story).

As for the release date difference with Chains of Promathia, I read and also remembered that there was only a 3-4 day gap between Japan and North America. I imagine this will be a similarly staged release with the same gap so as to not overload the update servers.

There likely will be no Jp onry gap. Any other assumption at this point is nothing more than weak complaints IMO.

Playonline posted the same video from the Tokyo Games Show with English translated text.
