Well, yeah. More giant checks written to the networks' advertising departments to fight each other now means less money for ads against Obama later Smiley: laugh

The certified results released this week from the nation’s first presidential nominating contest revealed that Mitt Romney’s declared eight-vote victory on caucus night was actually a 34-vote defeat. They revealed that eight voting precincts went missing in action, and their votes will never be counted. And they were accompanied by evolving statements from the Republican Party of Iowa, which, having initially called the race for Romney, first declared this week’s result a “split decision” and only later acknowledged victory for Santorum.

The Republican Party of Iowa issued this statement Friday night: “In order to clarify conflicting reports and to affirm the results released January 18 by the Republican Party of Iowa, Chairman Matthew Strawn and the State Central Committee declared Senator Rick Santorum the winner of the 2012 Iowa Caucus.”

Nah, the superpac money is basically contra limiting. The GOP will spend whatever they think they have to to counter the DEM media in the General (and to nominate Romney, if it comes to that).

Not that it was ever really very difficult to channel soft money into media buys, but now it's essentially frictionless. The reported fundraising numbers for either party or candidate for the general election will mean almost nothing this time.

Best case, some issue sticks that makes Romney unattractive to moron independent voters, but those idiots are rarely aware of politics until around November, so it would have to be pretty significant.

Last night's plowing of Romney spooked him enough that "I'll release my taxes in April" has turned into "I'll release my taxes on Tuesday".

Dunno, but the fact that he cited Gingrich's humility tells me he knows less about the candidates than the average cuttlefish.

Notes about Florida: Normally Florida would award 99 delegates but, because they're breaking the RNC rules by having their primary so early, they are being docked about half and only award 50 delegates. However, they are also awarding those delegates as "winner takes all" instead of the proportional system other states are using until April. Right now, Romney has a six delegate lead on Gingrich (34-28) but whoever wins Florida is going to have a pretty large lead. Especially since the next ~20 states will be awarding proportionally. I believe the largest prizes of CA and TX are winner takes all, but they don't come until later, (I think) May and June.

I doubt it is an issue with knowing the endorsed candidate so much as it is an issue with a paycheck. And let's be honest, those paychecks aren't coming in like they used to for the Texas Ranger.

I loved all the family values rants, and then seeing someone like Gingrich doing as well as he is.

So what you are saying, is that it's okay for a health insurance company to deny paying for treatment for a life-threatening condition, even though they have paid their premiums every month, because if they hadn't had the insurance in the first place they wouldn't have been able to afford it anyways, and they still would have died? That makes no logical sense whatsoever. If that's not what you were trying to say, please elaborate.

You're asking Gbaji to type even more?

Good lord.

You'd think Blizz would have paid him at least a decent amount for that recent commercial. Smiley: tongue In all seriousness though, let's not forget that Chuckie boy also endorsed Huckabee back in 2008. He's not exactly known for making the best choices in presidential candidates.

gbaji doesn't typically post during the work-day.

I'm rather psyched about Newt winning SC. It shows just how confuzzled and bamboozled the pubbies are.

I kind of feel bad for them.

No, it's all just a well-orchestrated ploy by the GOP to convince the country that there are many well-rounded Republican candidates who can topple Obama and take the top job.

It makes perfect sense. Remember, Barack Hussein Obama is a socialist muslim radical with a crazy christian preacher who gave him his ideas. Just calling him radical was them playing nice.

No big surprise, Romney was estimating high when he said he paid "about 15%" in taxes. It's actually 13.7%
