So where did you go? Or is "NY" The City? In which case, where did you go?

Just Syracuse.

The drive was nice though. The Hudson River Valley was a real party with all the birds in migration

Ahh, yes. Last week we went to Rochester and drove home past the 'cuse. But the Hudson Valley, yeah, pretty amazing. Love the scenery here.

good to hear from you, Nobster. Bel, so happy to hear how you are doing. Hugs!

Weather sucks a$$ here. I feel like I'm stuck back up north. That said the two younger kids are currently in bed. Xavier is old enough to join the super seekret club of mythological creatures that leave yummy goodness to find and devour. He's hopping around anxiously, waiting for his siblings to pass out so we can hide a sh*tton of eggs both inside and (for the first time ever) in our backyard, despite the crappy weather.

Tomorrow I shall be awakened at the crack a$$ of dawn by screaming children waiting for us parental units to yell "GO" so that they can tear through the house and my newly planted shrubbery to find candy and create new cavities. Lunch of ham sandwiches, my mom may stop by, and then I plan on passing out while pretending to watch something on Hulu just to have one hour of peace.

Happy Easter all =)

We hid stuff for little kids, then had lamb.

Go to a restaurant specializing in southern or eastern European cuisine and you'll stand a good chance of seeing it on the menu.

Grew up eating Lamb on Easter Sunday. We have lamb other times of the year, but Easter was always leg of lamb with mint jelly. South of the Mason Dixie Line it seem Ham rules the holiday.

Lamb on Easter, may have been just my Irish Catholic upbringing. My oldest wanted to have it one year, so Jonwin's mom made it for her that Easter. This year his brother made Ham, Turkey breast and chicken. The ham was wonderful.

I figured it was an overall Catholic thing, though admittedly I've never bothered to look for differences between Roman and Irish Catholics.

Is it really that hard to get lamb? I'm pretty sure I've found it in exotic locations too, like Safeway. Or are we talking about massive chunks of the sheep here, or is there something else I'm missing? Smiley: confused

It's not adding up... Smiley: frown

It's not hard to get, it's just not generally popular in the US. Sort of like rabbit.

We always did ham for Easter but with the obligatory lamb cake.

See now there's something you won't find at Safeway.

My local grocery stores always have Lamb, but not a wide selection compare to pork, beef and poultry. Leg of lamb goes on sale every spring, but not pushed in ads like ham is around Easter.

I could swear I once read something saying that gyro meat was one of the largest users of lamb in the US. But I can't find a source for it now so maybe it was a just sweet-something Gyro Girl whispered into my ear one night while drunk on ouzo-flavored wine coolers.

Apparently my earlier post disappeared in transit, but I cooked corned beef and cabbage for Easter since we had gotten too much for St. Paddy's.

I don't know anyone down here that eats lamb... ever. We eat turkey and/or ham. It's usually ham for easter, turkey for Thanksgiving, both for Christmas.

We do both for everything. I mean really, why deprive yourself?

Lamb is probably my favorite meat. Good lamb chops cooked well.... nom nom nom! We have it in our local grocery stores, but I'm admittedly snobbish about good meat, and willing to pay a little more for higher quality.
