I'm taking next Monday off - 3-day weekend. Woot. Hubby promised me a trip down to the coast to visit the botanical gardens and the aquarium.

Those are my only big plans. I've got rhubarb to harvest so i'll probably make some desserty type thing with it.

More discussion worthy, I just had this photo posted to my fb feed: Kids in an active-shooter drill learning to use their bullet proof blankets (they can second as yoga-mat).

Is this what we've come to?

Can I blame the NRA or is that just too easy?

Are we relying on the shooter to be blind?

Anyway, I'm taking the elder child to Friday Night Magic for some high stakes fantasy card game playing. I'm bringin' the White Weenie deck back with a force Smiley: mad Last time I ranked comfortably in the middle but one game I lost due to my own misunderstanding of a rule (user error, not deck error) and made some switches and tweaks so I have hopes to do fairly well. I'm not looking to beat the guys who just look up a deck list online and buy all the cards, I just like punching well within my weight class.

Not so sure about the rest of the weekend. No special Father's Day plans but we always go out for breakfast on Sunday morning so I expect we'll do that and then Flea will take over toddler-wrangling so I can spend the day how I please.

Good luck at FNM, hope you don't face too many Caryatid/Courser or U/W control decks. Although I guess between Deicide and Ajani's Prensence/God's Willing you have some cards to defend yourself.

The blaze orange makes for easier recovery.

According to the manufacturer, the bodyguard blanket can also provide protection from flying debris that may occur during other natural disasters like a tornado.

Nerds.

You guys should be playing Hearthstone.

No plans, though I'm sure the womenfolk of my household have some surprise for Sunday. I'm hoping it is some form and quantity of bacon pancake.

Husband is in San Diego for a conference.

Our microwave died so I will be eating cold leftovers all weekend and that makes me sad. Thankfully we bought the extended warranty. Repair guy is coming out Tuesday. Stupid over the range model that dies every two years and takes three people to replace Smiley: mad

No other plans.

Those aren't common where I play FNM. I think my son and maybe one other guy I saw last time plays W/U; both are more permission than control so I tend to burn them out of counterspells with a bunch of one-drops. I do have a couple Deicides, couple Banishing Lights and a set of Brave the Elements in there though as either ghetto counterspelling or end-game creature pushes.

I did play against a Caryatid/Courser deck last time and that's where I made my rules error. He attacked with a mob with double attack, I didn't realize I could use my Spear of Heliod to kill it between rounds of damage. Otherwise I'd have wiped him easily. As I said, that was a user error, not a problem with the deck. The other round I killed him quick and held out for a while the third time.

Edit: Now I'm thinking about sideboarding my Deicides and replacing them with Keening Apparitions.

We're on week 2 of summer vacation here, with four more weeks to go. Hubs took today off and we're taking the kids to the museum of Art. Soren's birthday is next weekend, so I have to take him out this weekend to buy a pinata, and other birthday party things. Depending on the weather, we're hoping to get some kayaking or hiking in.

4 more weeks and Soren starts kindergarten. Smiley: eekSmiley: lol

Seems like summer vacations were longer than six weeks when I was a kid. Have they been shrinking?

I have FAR too much to do this weekend, and I really don't feel like doing any of it. Maybe I'll take my neighbor's dog to the park and run him around.

I think more "shifting" at least around me. My kid was supposed to be done by Memorial Day weekend whereas we used to go until the first week in June. But his year starts after the first week in in August.

He wound up going until early June this year anyway due to all the snow/cold days the district took this winter.

I'm with Joph, the "you can't see me" trick only works on a T-rex, but who am I to second guess? Duck and cover solves all problems.

I have no idea what I'm doing this weekend. A lot will depend on whether or not the weather clears nicely or not. If not I'll probably hit the rainy-day bag and find some activity for the little ones to do. Forgot this weekend was father's day. Just as well though, nothing makes the wife grumpy like a special day for me. Smiley: lol

Not while we're out together, no.

I get why you're worried about not enough teenage boys having sex though, Man-Seeking-Man Smiley: um

No steak and blowjobs then? And you can always watch the world cup along with a couple hundred million other people around the world.

Maybe, we'll see. There's more entertainment options at home so it'll face some stiff competition. I won't be watching another Brazil vs Croatia kind of game. This Mexico and Cameroon thing is pretty exciting though.

In the space of 4 days next week it'll be my son's birthday, my mom's birthday, my father's birthday and father's day. So we'll be shopping mostly, I guess.

Ha! My parents divorced when I was young and I've basically lost contact with my father so I don't have to buy anyone anything.
