Speaking of pleasant thoughts...

Quote:
Which is why many Sky News viewers watching the network's live broadcast Sunday were shocked to see a reporter begin picking through the contents of an open suitcase lying among debris in the east Ukrainian field where the passenger plane went down.

Immediately realizing his error while on air, correspondent Colin Brazier said, "We shouldn't really be doing this, I suppose."

Reporter reporting on tragedy shows tragedy. I'm not seeing the need for Social Media Justice here.

I dunno, going through someones belongs does seem like a bit much, even if well intended. There's a whole field full of debris out there if you need a story. No real need to show us what the deceased packed in their luggage; let them keep a little dignity.

The fact that the site and this piece of luggage was accessible for any old reporter to rummage through is a bit disturbing.

Even a car accident gets more security.

It wasn't just some shmuck with a cellphone, it was someone who was specifically paid to report on the situation. The whole lax security angle is a separate story. As far as I can see this guy went through the proper channels to report on this situation, and now is getting flak for doing his job.

A car crash is also a fraction of the size. From what I understand the debris field is huge.

Sure, but these guards have anti-aircraft missiles to guard it with rather than pepper spray.

They should have just pointed that anti aircraft missile at the reporter. Problem solved?

That'd be fun to see on the news. Someone using a Stinger within the blast radius.

The NTSB would have the entire site secure in hours.

I'm guessing this is as much as were going to get from a bunch of rednecks that are busy losing a war.

To be fair, plenty of people use quote tags without filling in the name of the person they're quoting.
