waiting for her to run so you'll owe me... ummm... a knockwurst or something. I should probably go back and find out what the hell we bet on.

$5 that she runs, and $5 that she wins the nomination. You have the "yes" side of both. So if she runs and wins the nomination, I owe you $10 and my children have to beg on the streets for a day. If she runs and loses the nomination, it's a push. If she doesn't run, you only owe me $5.

Our voting stuff.

I think everything fell the way I voted (who says I'm not a conformist)? The things that didn't are things I really didn't have a strong opinion on. The last remaining thing is that GMO labeling initiative I voted against. It'll be interesting to see how that all plays out. Still too close to call it seems. Something rather pointless from my point of view, as I just assume that everything that isn't specifically labeled as "non-GMO" has GMOs in it, but whatever floats people's boat I guess. Smiley: rolleyes

National politics sound like they'll continue to be relatively gridlocked for the foreseeable future, so good news there right? After we survive the holidays I'll start paying attention to that 2016 president race thing. Anyone declare yet?

Great. So, it's your state's fault now when all of our job creators move to Canada.

Cuomo can't be happy with that result, he won big but he wanted to win legendary.

Yes. Fortunately, we have some very good Family Court judges here who have seen enough **** to view things with a very jaundiced eye. They usually get it right.

Don't be modest; Democrats are pretty great at drawing up some ridiculous congressional districts, too.
Oh, that is impressive. We have some like that here in New York, but not quite that creative. And "modest" probably isn't the best description since I despise them all (Politician - noun, from Latin, meaning "morally corrupt and intellectually bankrupt"). But don't mistake my contempt for a lack of respect. The balls that it takes to do stuff like this just commands respect.

Here's a more expansive list. I see that the divine right to **** with bears has been protected in Maine.

Every time we drive across the big green bridge on the border of Portsmouth NH and Maine, I like to hum the beginning of "dueling banjos". Nexa is unamused.

IIRC, most of the ballot initiatives in Illinois were non-binding, the exceptions being the two State constitution changes. So the state Senate still has to push a minimum wage increase through the new Republican governor.

And, y'know, good luck with that.

Edit: on second thought, the Dems retained a veto-proof majority, didn't they? Whatever.

Pat Quinn was just that bad. And this in a state that has two former Governors and a handful of state legislators in jail.

You're right about the non-binding part. That's part of why "We want higher minimum wage... and let's also vote for the guy against higher minimum wage" is weird. I realize, of course, that minimum wage opinions don't exist in a vacuum though.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Madigan & Co. push a minimum wage increase before Quinn turns out the lights and hands in his keys, though.

That and I've been super busy at work. Co worker who handles the day to day stuff for the platform I support is out sick for reasons that would constitute massive cross thread shenanigans were I to relay it here.

I'm still waiting to see if the "All Gays are perverts" bit works for the Dems this time around (mudslinging got pretty ridiculous in the 52nd). Crazy close race atm.

In this case, yes. It's like the left just can't figure out how to handle gay Republicans without resorting to some pretty offensive anti-homosexual assumptions (I'm sure in their minds, it's just gay conservatives who can't help but fondle themselves whenever in the presence of another man). Sad on several levels really.

I know this is a huge stretch, but...can you prove this is happening?
Y'know, like a quote from some Democrat? I don't thing that it's impossible, just so very unlikely that I'd like a cite, please.

Prove what is happening? That a gay GOP candidate has suffered numerous completely unfounded (so far not one has been supported with a shred of evidence) allegations, all of which play directly into the "all gays are perverts" trope. That's already well established (and Carl Demaio is far from the first gay republican to suffer this btw).

Quote:

Yes. Because people tend to go on record explaining their dirty tricks. Lol! How about we just recognize that the Left places great value on maintaining the public perception of the GOP as a (straight) white males party and engages in pretty nasty tactics against anyone who doesn't fit that perception. And yes, they tend to use offensive stereotypes about the identity group that person belongs to in the process. So female Republicans are unintelligent and fit only to cook, clean, and make and raise babies. Black Republicans are just servants/slaves to their White Republican masters. Latinos are just there to do yard work I guess. And homosexual Republicans are assumed to be perverts who can't control their unnatural sexual appetites.

It's hard to *not* see the rampant and offensive racial/sexual stereotyping that the Left engages in. When the person is a conservative.
