Um... Except the whole "ACORN dismantled as an organization" part, of course.

That doesn't show validity of O'Keffe's videos, it shows the GOP's willingness to use edited videos to advance their agenda. Sorta like with PP, dontchaknow.

And I'll point out, as I did back then, that the point of the video was about the crowd response. But hey. It's not like wiki doesn't have the the correct facts

Man, you'll always run to a review you can cherry pick instead of using the original source, huh?

But, hey, it's not like the video doesn't start by openly calling Sherrod a racist and saying nothing about the crowd response.

You did try using that lame excuse back when this happened, yes. That was when you insisted that he never called her a racist, he only said that she discriminates against people due to their race Smiley: laugh

A. Not every rule and regulation in the Bible, especially in the Old Testament, is a rule or regulation our modern society follows.

B. The Bible doesn't say that.

C. That's about the most convoluted justification imaginable. So because you think the Bible says that interracial marriages are wrong, it's ok for NAACP members to think it's funny for a black person to discriminate against a white person when making decisions about dispensing government farm assistance funds? That doesn't remotely make sense, even if you weren't flat our wrong about your interpretation of the Bible.

Ah... The well loved "it's an edited video" excuse. You guys love that one. When the fully unedited version provides the same conclusions about the wrongness of what is being done, the fact that it was "edited" to reduce the viewing time by removing unimportant parts, doesn't invalidate it. You'd be hard pressed to find *any* video that isn't edited in some way (especially youtube videos), so just proclaiming it "edited" is meaningless.

Quote:
Man, you'll always run to a review you can cherry pick instead of using the original source, huh?

Every source says the same thing Joph. The point wasn't about Sherrod, but about the NAACP. This is clearly stated in the blog where the original video was contained. The fact that most people just watched the video on youtube instead of going to the source blog isn't my fault, and certainly does not change the motivation contained in the original blog.

We already had this conversation (which you linked). You were wrong then, and you're even more wrong bringing it back up today. For what? To show that liberal institutions are rife with racism, discrimination, and abuse of power? That's the pattern here. Nit picking what was said in response is kinda silly, isn't it? You're playing context and word games, while ignoring the bigger picture.

Even if we accept every single thing you're saying (and I'm not), how does that change anything? Even if there was a false claim in the video about Sherrod being racist, does that change the fact that the reaction from the crowd most definitely *was* racist? That claim was not false. The NAACP reaction was not falsely represented.

Similarly, how does O'Keefe lying to set up his videos, and OMGZ maybe trespassing or whatnot, change the facts contained within those videos? It doesn't. We still have members of ACORN admitting that they violated a number of rules and laws. They admitted to abusing the power they were given, for what was quite obviously politically aligned purposes. The list of things revealed about that operation were pretty shocking (and longer than I feel like going into detail here). But all you're doing is finding some minor reason to dismiss it as nothing? You're kidding right? Why do that except so as to circle the wagons. It's ridiculous.

We have videos of PP members admitting to shopping their prices for tissues. We have them admitting to selecting their surgical methods so as to maximize that tissue harvesting. We have evidence of them looking the other way when teen girls were being molested and abused by family members. We have video of them doing nothing when presented with an underaged prostitute and her pimp showing up to get her an abortion. How the videos were obtained, or whether they had permission to take (that's a pretty weak counter, right?) them kinda shouldn't matter here. These are all cases of activities that should raise massive alarm bells. But instead, it seems like the Left's reaction its to provide more and more cover and protection for the organization.

No matter how you feel about abortion, you should not feel good about Planned Parenthood. I'm not sure how anyone can defend them.

Quote:
That was when you insisted that he never called her a racist, he only said that she discriminates against people due to their race Smiley: laugh

When commenting on her relating a story that occurred in the past. In that part of the story, she was discriminating against someone due to their race. As I said back then, there's some torturous tense bending going on, so blame him (his staff, whatever) for bad grammar, but I find it amusing that you're apparently still trying to carry this flag around for some reason.

Again, whatever false allegations may have been leveled against Sherrod because of the video (and regardless of who did it, mostly a lazy media rehashing the youtube without reading the blog it came from), the larger and main point about the NAACP crowd reaction is still true.

We're still left with a long and consistent pattern of liberal organizations engaging in bad behavior. And an equally long and consistent pattern of rank and file liberals desperately finding any excuse they can to defend or ignore it.

Yes, people do pick and choose which parts are "important" (NO GEHYS!!!) and which aren't (NO ADULTERY!!). People; am I right?

Well, I suppose saying that is easier than admitting what the video plainly states. I mean, it's not like there's words there explictly spelling it out or anything but, sure, it's all about them rascally NAACP folks.

But, hey, you guys love the edited videos and, as we saw in yesterday's hearings, the GOP loves its false and misleading "data" when defending it. You know, speaking of patterns and all.

Oh, it's the well loved "Look, the GOP and its allies just make shit up and try to pass it off as truth to get an emotional response" excuse from us Democrats.

Edit: As Clinton's hearing draws near, it would be remiss to not also think of the time Republicans changed Benghazi emails and then leaked them to the press to drive a false narrative.

Stephen Harper said the Government will pay farmers for losses on TPP. Union and Employment Observers say up to 29,000 jobs can be impacted by TPP. Our finance minister says we are not in a recession, despite the Bank of Canada announcing we had entered a recession only weeks earlier.

My Question is.

Why do some Americans get distracted by sideshow politics? Donald Trump is leading the polls by so much. FOX NEWS headline for 4 days was Trump Boycotts Fox News.

I'd guess that if they weren't interested in the sideshow aspects, they wouldn't have any interest at all. It's not as though they'd otherwise be sagely considering the issues.

Trump is leading because he speaks to the simplest lizard-brain parts of the people. "Others" are bad, Your home/tribe is great, Government is bad but I'll fix everything, I'll just strong arm all of our enemies, etc all with a sheen of bluster and showmanship that doesn't make you think. If these people cared at all about policy, Trump would be polling in the negative digits.

Mitt "Corporations Are People, My Friend" Romney suddenly realizes that campaign financing is pretty fucked up:
Quote:
Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney called for campaign finance reform in the wake of the explosion of super PACs, which can receive unlimited sums of money from corporations, unions and individuals.

“We’ve really got a mess in the financial system with regard to campaigns right now,” the 2012 nominee said Wednesday in an interview at The Atlantic’s Washington Ideas Forum.

"We’ve gotta rethink campaign finance,” he added.

The former Massachusetts governor said it is a problem that shadowy super PACs can take “unlimited amounts of money,” while candidates themselves are “very strictly limited” in the amount of funding they are able to raise.

Well, when you don't have to appease the crazies to get primary votes, you can act like a normal person.
Not having to worry about the pac monies helps too.
