I was just told by someone who voted Romney in the last election, that he wants to vote for Bernie Sanders in this election. He also said he'd vote Trump over Hilary.
Pls halp.
Most people's personal political positions don't align perfectly with either the Republican or Democratic party platforms. Most of those people tend to side with one of those two parties because it has more in common with their positions than the other, and if one party does so more consistently over time, they will identify themselves as "A Republican" or "A Democrat". Some people, however, have a set of positions that's nearly evenly matched or not matched across those party lines. And those people will tend to dance back and forth, taking up support for candidates that can seem pretty darn inconsistent. And yeah, some of them really don't know a darn thing about politics, but just pick people based on criteria that seems pretty darn unfathomable. I'd have hard time imagining anyone supporting Romney in one election and Sanders in the next, but that's because I (like most people) presumably measure based on things like economic/social positions (on which the two are about as far apart as you can get). But for all we know, this guys keying in on speech pattern, or body language, or hair color, or who the heck knows?
Not everyone views politics through the same lens.
