Even if you try to search for forums off the main site now, it redirects you into something reminiscent of a buzzfeed hellhole.

Basically the gist of what I'm getting is that if you don't know the forums are here, you're rather unlikely to find them now. There really aren't going to be any obvious links or redirects back to this corner of the world from the main page, and if you want to discuss something beyond the comment level you're being encouraged to go to one of the sister sites instead.

There's a very short blurb on the new "About Zam" page that gives a link to the "legacy" forums. Boy, how I sure do "love" this new ************ site

Also when the hell did Zam get their claws into NexusMods, and why is it a "Featured Site". Are they going to close that down too when they don't make any money from it?

NexusMods still says that they're privately owned by Robin Scott so I'm guessing there's no connection. Guessing and hoping.

Last I heard she was saying something about Trump and a grassy knoll.

If you kill the Trump, you become the Trump. This is why he cannot be stumped.

So.. at any point is the ability to view 10 year old threads going to be lost?
I still occasionally like to stroll down memory lane to see what an ******* I was... and how much I love you guysSmiley: frown
Will this legacy thing provide like an archive?

I imagine that the forum system is basically all one piece at this point, so it'll either all be here or not be here at all. The same database that stores new posts holds all the old posts.

I hope nothing ever happens to that site. It's the one mod site I can actually stand to use, that doesn't drive me nuts.

Nah, not near term. First you cut off the "legacy" portion from the main site so it gets decreasingly less traffic and withers. Then you get the software/hardware issues that go unresolved because it's not "officially supported". Then it's the "Well, no one goes there and it's broken so..." moment.

I've been on the internet before. I know how it goes.

True. I use the www.zam.com subdomain, which, sometime shortly after this thread was first posted, was made to be impossible to access the forums through. I only found I could still access the forums by accident, through game-specific subdomains. I assumed it had just been all shut down completely.

It was also lovely of 'em to bury what happened in one of the articles after the fact.
