Spoken as someone who watched the trailers and just didn't laugh and wasn't afraid to say that, but I don't think the problem is the gender of the cast.
It's only really noteworthy because instead of the usual Internet Hate Machine vs Internet Hug Machine, the cast and crew have been going out of their way to throw themselves off the cliff to join the ranks of the youtube comment's section to call any and all criticism sexist.

A major problem I'm beginning to realize here is how easy it is to confuse legitimate social problems such as college rape/wage disparity, etc-- with the growing popularity in romanticizing being a victim based on one's identifying features. It's almost like an addiction. --where it starts out perfectly reasonable, recognizing real and glaring injustice, becoming loud and proud about their x trait that sets them apart from other people what causes them whatever grief and discrimination there may actually be. --but then something happens. Some people begin losing control, and don't know when to stop. It no longer feels empowering when everyone around you can unanimously agree that there is a real problem. They need to reach deeper. There needs to be controversy. I know! Time to start a movement to regulate kid's Halloween customs! --because being a pirate promotes the idea that rape is ok somehow.

98% of controversy isn't. "Teacher in a school seven states away did something dumb!" "Nine people on Twitter are mad about something!" "Someone wrote something in blog!"

"I didn't use the 'er' ending, I used the 'ah' ending." was hilarious though.

But when it comes to something serious, the only people arguing "boys will be boys" are a couple of uneducated ******** suffering from lifelong lead fume exposure, and that just isn't good enough. It is hardly controversy when nearly everyone agrees.

That's when you create a couple of fake twitter accounts and argue with yourself until someone notices and it catches fire. Smiley: wink

The whole college rapey thing is a myth as well. There is no reality to the whole 20% of women are raped at college on a regular annual basis. The numbers are wildly inflated for purposes of pushing the political agenda of shrinking male dominance across the societal spectrum. This is seen in the University of Virginia rape debacle, wherein a woman made an accusation to a large cultural interest magazine "journalist" (who couldn't be bothered to do, you know, journalism) that she had been gang raped by frat boys. Another example of this is "Mattress Girl."

We see this all the time by the Left-- make a loud accusation, have the media jump all over it in dismay, then push their agenda to "fix" the problem.

All of this is not to say that rape doesn't happen on campus, but that there is not some massive rape crisis which is plaguing our higher educational institutions. Just like the idea that women universally get paid less than men is false on the face of it, many of these social issues are ginned up to push the political agenda d'jour.

All of this is not to say that tax doesn't happen in America, but that there is not some massive tax crisis which is ruining Americas productivity. Just like the idea that unions are a harbinger of doom for corporate America, many of these social issues are ginned up to push the political agenda d'jour.
You've been away for awhile so I figured I'd do you a favor and FTFY.
