A happy note for all of Lakshmi's BLMsFollow

#1 Nov 18 2005 at 7:32 PM Rating: Decent
I have no idea if this is old news, new news, or who-gives-a-crap-news, but I just found this on the BLM forums and thought I'd share it with the rest of the Lakshmi comunity, who may not explore other job forums.

Quote:
1UP: Raising the level cap would defeat the point of the Merit system. The last time I spoke with you at TGS you said that perhaps the Black Mages were overpowered and could use some adjustment, which sparked some controversy in the community. Now that there's been a couple months of tweaking and tuning done to the game, what job would you say you are most happy with and what jobs still need the most work?

HT: Regarding "manaburning" parties, I think that sounds pretty cool. [laughs] What I really meant to say at the time is that I think it's a good idea, and if anyone hears those stories about those kinds of parties and feels that Black Mages are too strong, I would like them to be more creative and to give you help in making your jobs strong so you can do more interesting things like that. But I don't think the BLM job itself should be weakened just because of this current trend of a new way to form your party. And this goes for every job. I'd rather adjust things laterally to try to bring a job's strength up or down. The only exception was the Ranger, not just because of the way people play and the amount of money they put into it, but also the job itself had a fundamental attack advantage, and that's what we most recently tried to fix. But in general we don't want to make any job weaker.

Sorry if this is common knowledge, but it certainly put a smile on my face.

Manaburns are just one type of burn PT ^^

Take 5 or 6 people of anyjob past 50 or 60, and you can easily use their abilities to ungodly levels (provided some jobs sacrifice their usual subjob and switch to different gear)

Although some (job)burns would be harder to pull off, like BRDburn, 12 songs must make a very powerful PT, but try and find 6 BRDs >.>

Provided that BRD/NIN and BRD/WAR are just a few points off WAR/NIN in terms of power, with the correct gear and with all the buffs youd have a turbocharged army walking around.

Just because it's a party of similar jobs doesn't make it a "Burn" party.

Obviously you haven't seen a WARRIORBURN, OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH.

This post really has no value. I just haven't said anything for a while.

Sure it is. Isn't that the entire definition of a "-burn" party?

Manaburns have BLMs.
Arrowburns have (had?) RNGs.
Wyvernburns have DRGs.
MNK-burns (?) have, well, MNKs.

The problem with that is that I don't think multiple copies of the same song can be stacked. For instance, only one "instance" of Minuet 4 can be active on you at any one time, so you can't get 6 copies of it all at once. Or at least, that's how I've heard it works.

With BRD, you can only stick on so many songs before eventually you have to "downgrade" to less effective buffs. But even with all the ATK in the world, I still can't see BRDs dealing much damage with their toothpicks, anyway. =/

Cant have 2 of the same song family on you, so only Minuet IV and III would apply.

Oh BTW, BRD burn has been done by Japanese players recently.

One of teh BRDs even managed to reach 917 ATT. That is nothing special for a MNK or DRK, or other melees (as I have gotten 999 ATT with a MNK today, 9 Boosts, Minuet III and II)
