I'm on vacation right now! Without FFXI! Well, technically, I do have FFXI... But I don't want to be called a loser for playing video games while away on vacation. >.>;

This is primarily why I dislike vacations.

Ugh, FF12 is driving me insane. I'm trying to work my way through all the hunts to get to Yiazmat and it's just so stupidly tedious. =(

It's kind of a teaser of what you're getting into with the actual Yiazmat fight itself, really.

I'm debating whether I should spend the time to get Tournesol before fighting him and Hell Wyrm, but that's also going to take forever <,<.

I'm assuming Fyn is a Pokémonk just like me.

Hey Fyn, do you want to battle some time? My current team would love a challenge before I retire it for my new team.

2x Masamunes is all you really need (and both of them much easier to get than Tournesol). These weapons are not particularly strong but they are the best to use anyway because of their high combo rate (it's just a shame there is only one Genji Belt in the game). Berserk/Haste these guys and use Infuse to get their HP to critical (enhances combo rate) and they will be raping sh*t for as long as you can keep Yiazzy's attention off of them. 3rd person obviously runs around with Decoy/Reverse. As you might have seen from Yiazmat speedkill videos, this is generally the fastest way to bring him down, but unless you are playing the International version (in which you can break the 9999 damage limit), it's still going to take a while.

If the Masamunes are not hitting 9999 (or 6999 after Yiazzy activates his "reduce all damage by 30%" defenses), do everything you can to make them hit harder. I think the DEF-lowering technick still works on Yiazzy (it works on almost everything in the game, surprisingly) and its effect never wears off, so if that works stack it up as much as you can.

Well, assuming that I can actually get the wifi thing to work properly...

Now wouldn't be the ideal time for it really, because I've recently traded a good amount of my pokes and items from Diamond/Plat to HG in order to breeze through that game easier.

In short, 1) any sort of coherent team I could make is kinda scattered right now, and
2) For the time being, I'm kinda focused with getting through HG

Once I can reconstruct a team I'll give it a shot. One thing I've wanted on my Platinum battle tower team for a while now was a decent Gyarados, and HG presents a perfect opportunity for me to get one of those with the shiny Gyarados forced encounter.

I could also just hax myself some pokes with Pokesav, but at least for the time being, I'm remaining a purist.

Doesn't sound too bad then. I have to read up again on how to get the second Masamune, already got the one from Gilgamesh so that's something done! Now to just finish grinding 99 <,<.

The other Masamune is a bazaar item. Need to sell 2 Gemsteel, 3 Orichalcum, and 3 Mallets. The Gemsteel itself is another bazaar item, I believe... so this is kind of a Tournesol-lite. Still though, Masamune is the best weapon in the game if you abuse its combo rate.

Best way I know of to grind XP is by Curajabombing the Abysteels in the Henne Mines restricted area, but you may know about that already.

I've read about the Abysteel Curaja bomb thing but I'm still trying to figure out the specifics of that one, been using Negalmuur for now.

The room you want to use is the 4-way junction room in the restricted area, where past experience will tell you that a bunch of enemies will drop from the ceiling when you flick the switch, and this room happens to drop a ton of Abysteels. They will swarm and kill you really fast if you aren't prepared, but with the proper preparations you can live and own them all with Curaja, and all the damage you'll do with it will more than easily maintain your MP. Once the room is cleared out it is nice and quick to zone two rooms away to reset them and repeat. It requires some attention to use properly but it's a lot better EXP than Negalmuur once you get it going.

Two primary ways of handling it that I know of (there are likely more):

1) The ever-cheap Decoyverse. I've never actually used this method before for Abysteels, but I don't see why it wouldn't work
2) Decoy + Ensanguined Shield. This is what I used, because for some reason it hadn't occurred to me to try Decoyverse. This shield can give you 100% evade rate which will make you invulnerable unless Decoy drops, or unless you get hit by Leech too many times (ignores evasion and will do a hearty chunk of damage). Most of the time, if anyone dies using this method, it will be from unfortunate Leech spam. Due to animation lock from all the Curajas flying around, you might die before you're able to do anything about it. sh*t happens

In retrospect, you may even find the Ensanguined Shield to work better than Reverse. Reverse won't last long enough to get all the Abysteels killed, and chances are very good that if you're relying on that too much to survive, your tank will get shredded as soon as it drops, and you might not be able to reapply it as soon as you'd like, due to the aforementioned animation lock from the Curajabombs.

It is craptastic and rainy today and I want miso soup with tofu. Or miso soup with Tofu. I kind of thought I would mess around with making my own dashi this weekend. Its tough to find a good Japanese soup base in the middle of MI. I can drive a few miles and buy a whole damn cow (once I had meat from a cow named Nathan and one named Chocolate) to put in my freezer, but I have to drive an hour to buy miso.

Have you tried the fruit flavored tofu? I forgot, I was going to ask Pikko if she uses it. It kind of scares me.

Fun Fact! If you google "flavored tofu" you get pics of George Clooney. OH PETA! You never let me down!

No, I have never had fruit flavored tofu. I don't think.

I have made dumplings from scratch, though! More than 70 of them. ._. Sadly, I only felt crazy after the fact. At least they were delicious?

Wooo, finally beat Alexander and Odin in the same night using melee zerg, and each in under 1 minute! During Odin I almost didn't finish casting Haste on 4th DD before he went down. It was very satisfying after a few runs of failure trying things like SMN burn and RDM/DRK. Some SCH who had something to prove pestered me to let her join cuz it would be a great DD but I had enough sense not to blow my daily chance on that. Now I can summon both, and I look forward to another Odin for the aesir torque!

That just begs the question, what goes good in Tofu? :P
