I was going to rewrite the 12 Days of Christmas around my gifts (mainly 3 Blu-ray DVDs, 2 Wii games, and a DS game), but I'm having trouble working in "a crapload of Packers stuff."

Back to eating fudge, I guess.

The first, believe it or not. I'm 25/50, but after helping a friend get his Masamune everybody is sick to death of La Theine. When I can find someone to help be build lights I can nuke worms to farm KIs, but even then it takes 4-5+ hours to get Cara pops on my 3 characters if I'm unlucky. It turns into an all-day endeavor just to get 3-5 gems.

I tried bring my WAR alt yesterday for Fell Cleave action, just because I can evaporate 10+ mobs every 2 min with ease that way. Unfortunately, there's no mobs in LTP that don't give ruby, so after 2+ hours I had gotten a single large gold chest. Maybe it was bad luck.

Either way, I'm just frustrated that it's going so slow.

I suggest looking into another way of AoEing your mobs to death if taking things out 1-by-1 isn't your style. Maybe Aeolian Edge? I've seen DNCs training mobs and taking them out with this on several occasions.

Maybe not as good as Fell Cleave, but it won't get you ruby.

BLM could also do it, obviously.

I've been spamming the Oberon with Plag lately so if you want free lanterns just send me a tell.

Yeah, I've done the whole BLM thing for a couple dozen hours. I leeched my BLM to 90 purely for amber farming, but outside of my Morrigan's Robe, it's an Auction House Hero. A few hours of nuking worms with capped lights nets me a pop set or 2, but still not very time efficient.

And what would you suggest? I don't have the gear, much less a RDM alt with Phalanx II, to nuke multiples of non-stationary mobs. Remember, this is LTP. I can't think of another mob there that would possibly be better for me to nuke.

Suck less? It's not hard to avoid getting hit. Anything that runs at normal speed, links and/or aggros, and doesn't cast will work.

Sorry, but no. I've seen you discuss this in =10, but it just doesn't apply in LTP. Besides worms, all linking/agroing mobs in LTP are too spaced out except for frogs, and I'm not about to start -ga'ing them. In the time it would take me to pull 4 of any other mob type in that zone, I could have killed a group of 4-8 worms, turned 45 degrees to the left or right and started casting on the next group. I don't have to buff myself at all since they're stationary, there's about 80 of them in a 100x100 yalm area so they practically pull themselves, and thanks to /sch they give me unlimited MP even if I'm unlucky with restore/temp boxes. Oh, and the only NM I have to worry about is lolMikey.

Amber farming anything besides worms would be retarded.

I'll let you know the next time we are out killing it. Last night we would have gotten some more pop sets but an entire LS camped Heqet all night. So only really managed 2 pulls.

Thanks to Samhain, only 17 more gems to go!

I'm thinking next stage should go much easier. I think I can Fell Cleave the mandys in Misareaux Coast. If they're like Mandys in other zones, they won't give ruby. That would definitely speed up the KI farming.

Great. I just discovered one of the key items for Cirein doesn't drop from chests. There goes my plan to solo pops.

I was just fighting mandies in Attohwa and they gave ruby so... yeah. The ones in Misareaux probably do too.

Tahrongi is just "special" like that in that only a few mobs can give ruby and amber. Don't really know why; no other zone seems to be that stingy with particular lights. It makes it all that much more clear though about why Tahrongi used to be the primo spot for EXP groups though, because it is pretty much the "beginner's zone" as far as getting TEs is concerned.

Regarding lights, I suggest recording any as-of-yet unknown findings to the Abyssea Lights page on wiki; I've found these charts to be rather useful when deciding on targets.

What most people usually do is pull it (note that with this guy, sometimes the first claiming action will not get him to budge, and he'll remain unaggroed and unclaimed, so you may have to use two... not sure why this happens; it might have something to do with him spawning in water) and then run like hell to the south. If you don't get hit by any of the adds, around the time you reach the passageway southeast of 00, the adds should deaggro. Heqet can be deaggroed too but he's a little harder to shake for some reason, so he should still be on you at this point if you don't run much farther than you need to.
