It seems like it has potential, I don't know first hand I do not play 14, I was in the beta and SE ignored its testers and released a lemon. I have no ambition to support their future MMO. But FFXI is getting a new major expansion sometime next year, and I will support that, because despite some ignoring SE for the most part has taken player input very well in FFXI, and the new Dev team actually has asked for player input unlike his predecessors.

I've heard that FFXIV is getting to be pretty fun. I created a character and started playing on Hyperion. I'm not sure if they're going to be calling it Hyperion when 2.0 launches though. You never know. It might turn out to be fun. I'm probably going to really jump in when the PS3 version comes out.
Unless FFXI sucks me back in hard. Never know. :)
