You could. I just assumed most people would find it difficult to rewatch the same story in quick succession.

Ah, I misunderstood then. Didn't realize it was exactly the same. Although I did do it with Escaflowne, not realizing the movie was the same story... only... different.

While my mind is on it, I'm looking for some more stuff in that vein. Semi-steampunk, not kiddy, doesn't necessarily have to be mecha involved. But aside from FMA, am I wasting my time in that search?

Nope.

*Steamboy - A movie by the same director as Akira. It received mixed reviews, but I don't think it was wholly bad; at worst it was not good.
*Last Exile - 26 episode series that focuses on flying machines. I found it to be quite enjoyable, and the song "A Morning in Norkia" is one of my favorite instrumentals. This is probably the paragon of steampunk anime.

Both of those series are far truer to steampunk themes than FMA. FMA is more of a industrial setting, "steam" without the "punk."

*Pumpkin Scissors - falls more into the realm of FMA in that it's not really steam punk, mostly just industrialization. Solid scissors that seemed somewhat incomplete.
*Samurai 7 - Some light steampunk themes, but mostly focusing on samurai action.
*Memories - One of the stories involves a sort of steam punk setting.
*Trigun - More western than steampunk, but again a few light themes.

That truly is a loaded question by the OP. I have enjoyed just about everything everyone has already listed. I can't really list my favorite Anime's since we'll be here all day but I'll add a few.

Rurouni Kenshin (Also know as Samurai X)
Banner of the Star Series
Desert Punk - Sunabouzu
Heroic Age
Fruits Basket
Mahoromatic
Murder Princess
Outlaw Star
Record of Lodoss War
Dual Parallel Trouble Adventure
Zero no Tsukaima
El Hazard The Magnificent World
The Vision of Escaflowne
Shakugan no Shana
Gantz

There's just few off the top of my head. There's a little bit of everything in there. Just wiki them for a better description. I also download most of my anime or purchase it. Mostly download, hard drive space is cheaper...

Fine...

Rurouni Kenshin (TV Series)
Samurai X Movie & OVA series (Starring a guy name Kenshin too)

OVA predate the TV Show (back story) and is far bloodier & darker.

Is that better?

Them putting two episodes per disc has got to be the greatest incentive I've ever seen to pirate. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm getting em through Netflix, I'd skip this damn series altogether just because of that.

Actually it's more like this storywise:

Samurai X OVA 1
Samurai X OVA 2
Rurouni Kenshin Series
Samurai X OVA 3 (End Of Saga/Storyline)

That could easily occur. Someone make a list by category. Make sure you include the "Airplanes, giant robots, giant robots that turn into airplanes, or spaceships" category

How about the "Girls who are basically Moe Anthropomorphisms of Planes while also being based on real life pilots and are now fighting the War on Pants"?

Sounds like a plan. By the time Allegory is done organizing the list, Rog will have broken the 100,000 post marker.

After episode 9 of season 2, the Anime of Gantz deviates away from the manga. Unfortunately, instead of "filler", the anime ends after that arc never to continue. However, the manga, while pretty good early on, doesn't really pick up until just after the anime deviates. Kurono, the main character, isn't very likable until he loses everyone during the temple mission & gets a girlfriend. We're talking way, way more unlikable than Shinji from Evangelion.

It will be live action movie(s) soonish though, and will probably stink, but doubt they'll go past the fight at the temple either. Which is really too bad.

You'll just have to read the manga if you want to see them fight dinosaurs, demons, giant boob monsters, & big friggin' aliens.

Speaking of which, do you know who will be subbing the second season?

You know, I hadn't looked into it, so I can't say for sure. I was/am kinda hoping Crunchyroll gets this season as well, which would make me quite happy since that would be out before the next DVDs would release anyway.

Really, just watch Berserk. After the 25 episode anime you will be clamouring for more and will want to read the manga from start to ''finish'' (it's still on going). Take this from a guy who had never watched an anime or read a manga in his life.

That ending, though...more depressing than Evangelion was "WTF?!".

Speaking of Strike Witches, Funimation just announced that they will be releasing season 2.

I trust funimation with dubs as much as I trust 4kids. I can stand maybe 10% of the dubs I've listened to.
