Better get caught up fast then, next episode guest stars Jaimie Alexander, aka Lady Sif.

Episode had decent action and drama. Still get kind of annoyed they're playing up the "advanced technology" angle, but that's the universe they're building so that's mostly geek rage. A mention of the Kree, but it was in a list of blue aliens, so not really any confirmation. Son of Coul continues being the main draw. And a pretty easy to see but not overtly obvious plot twist introduced at the end. My bet is it involves Fury directly.

Its taken a while, but the show is finally starting to warm up for me.

I'm loving it. The twists on each episode really get me. I'm going to hate when this season ends.

Pure speculation, step by step I'd say that was a Kree, which means it could be Mar-Vell. Which leads us to Skye now being a Kree/Human hybrid. That leads me to hope beyond hope and will probably be disappointed that Skye's real name is Carol Danvers.
I am a couple episodes behind so forgive me if this has already been addressed in the show, but if the Kree are showing up, couldn't she very well be an Inhuman? I mean, it seems like it would give them a "Totally not Mutants" way of introducing mutants.

More likely than my speculation, and seems to be the more popular theory since she's still considered an unknown.

But I still want Captain Marvel. Smiley: motz
Either way it'll probably be revealed as a season finale. Next week theyre supposed to reveal a trailer for Age of Ultron, so there's that. Doubt it'll be as good as the Guardian of the Galaxy one.

That movie looks badass. I'm even more excited after watching Moviebob's explanation of who all those damn people are.

Pretty good summer to be a comic geek. Captain America 2, Age of Ultron, and Guardians of the Galaxy almost one after the other, not to mention Spidey 2 and (for others, at least) X-Men Days of Future Past isn't too far off.

Almost makes being a comic geek during the 90s worthwhile.

They've never really gone into the back story of this version of Fury. However, the original was a soldier in WW2 (leader of the Howling Commandos, which actually did appear in the Captain America film, but sans Fury). They've clearly decided to change that history, but to what? That Fury was the recipient of an early attempt to replicate the super soldier serum that made Cap (called the infinity serum or something silly like that). It worked in that it gave him some physical advantages as well as slowing down aging, but he had to take another dose every 10 years or so or he would die (or something. I remember there being a negative to it).

It's possible that they're going in a similar direction with this take on Fury. It would explain why he knew about and had access to this super duper secret base with a magical serum that could heal severe injuries. Of course the whole "it's made out of alien" is a bit of a twist. But it wouldn't be that hard to fit that in. Add in the possible interactions with whatever Skye is (Fury and Caulson presumably both being baseline human and her probably not) and things could get interesting.

Ant-Man.

That's the take-away from the little extended commercial slash documentary that aired last night. Yes, I know it's an old clip, but now it's an old clip released on a greater scale.

I liked tonight's episode, but Coulson letting Ward bring in the Clairvoyant was stupid. He just shot the last dude they thought was the Clairvoyant & "found out" his Mentor was instead. He is literally the last person they should have sent as escort muscle.

Well, Ward was really one of the only ones left that they trusted that could really do the job and sometimes you just gotta take the bad option. Kind of expected the reveal, but didn't really expect the final turn.

Also, guess we're not going to see H.A.M.M.E.R. make an appearance now.

There think it was pretty well foreshadowed when the head SHIELD Lady readily agreed to bring Ward along to that final encounter with Garrett. Also there was a prior 'look' between Ward and Garrett.

The kicker is that this is gonna send the Skye-Ward relationship back to square one....and after that nice little kiss.

Well sure the last ten minutes. I'm more referring to guessing Garrett would be a bad guy of some sort from his first appearance. Didn't really have that kind of build up with Ward, it was pretty instant. Which is a good turn, goes to show just how good Hydra is at what they do.

Betting some type of control though, either mind or blackmail or something.

Hmm, I was left with the impression that Ward had turned in just the last ten minutes - 5 minutes really. Like Garrett had used some kind of mind-control on him.

But, I'm liking the idea of him having been the bad guy all along.

They've made a point of him having this kind of spaced out look on his face several times during the last couple episodes. I'm assuming that his shooting of the original "Clairvoyant" was the first point where he was activated, or whatever. And he's been being controlled somehow since then. Not sure if it's all the time, or just occasionally. Should be interesting.

The spoiler/reveal wasn't as direct as I was thinking. It basically assumes that you know the basic plot of the Cap2 film, but you could watch either in either order and still enjoy them both. Still would recommend watching the film first though. Assuming you don't know the basic Hydra is secretly inside SHIELD bit.

Things that made me go Ha.

The Hydra hidden base is a barbershop. One of the original SHIELD bases was under a barbershop in Manhattan, complete with the seat elevator.
Talbot. Incredible Hulk character. Actor looks remarkably like the character in one of those RDJ/Stark Stewart/Prof X kind of deal.
Celebrity Wife Swap is a thing.
D'aww, geek love.
SHIELD, spies who put their logos on everything.
Oswald Patterson.
My ultimate ha: I didn't even go into this show liking it and here I am anxious for the next episode. Still annoyed at the lack of magic and supernatural, but it grew on me. Seriously, there's a whole branch of SHIELD called WAND that deals with that stuff. Oh well, could use some LMDs though.

Haven't bothered to use the mighty power of the interwebs to check, but was that the guy who played Will on Sanctuary?

I don't think so. It was Adrian Pasdar, and the only reason I remember his name from the credits is because he tends to be Tony Stark's voice in the cartoons and video games.

Something about his face looked familiar is all, but I was having a hard time placing it. In any event, it looks like they're finding ways to continue the plot line even with the events in Cap2.

Not sure how happy I am with the whole "I was just pretending to be a good guy the whole time" bit from Ward though. It would be an interesting (daring even) twist to have that be it. I'm still holding out for him having been brainwashed by his former SO and part of the activation of his programming makes him think he was a bad guy all along (cause you'd have to have some way for the programmed person to rationalize why they were helping their enemies previously). Or he could just be a bad guy. We'll see.

I'm not sure if I like Ward's heel turn, but he and Garrett have pretty good on-screen chemistry and I enjoyed watching them work together. So whatever the end-game for that storyline is, I kind of hope we get more of them working together the way they did this week.

Also, I kind of hope Garrett grows the 1970s cop/**** 'stache the character he's based on has in 616.

The whole time I'm watching Bill Paxton's character, I'm thinking about the character he played in True Lies. I keep waiting for him to pee himself when someone pulls a gun on him.

Maybe a DVD extra.

I missed half of this week's episode due to having to deal with work related issues. I got the references at the start of the episode at the very least.
