Yeah, I have yet to see Ant-Man or Prof. Strange so I guess I should before the Next Big Avengers Thing. Not that not seeing Ant-Man made any difference for the last one.

Haven't seen Spider-Man: Homecoming yet either although I'm pretty well set on who Spider-Man and what he does (whatever a spider can, right?)

Finally got around to GotG2 a couple weeks ago. Was pretty good but less solid than the first. Felt like it didn't have a real strong central plot line holding it together.

Inhumans wasn't that bad. I expected a lot worse from the way it was being talked about.

It suffers a bit from just too much in the 2 hour premiere. Effects were OK.

Well, Darwin gets to be let off my shitlist for now, since Maximus is taking his place. It's like the writers were told they had to include a character called "Maximus the Mad" and instead of checking the damn wiki they went with "angry" instead of "insane," and decided, still instead of checking the damn wiki, that to explain his anger they'd make him a powerless manlet with a combination of inferiority and Napoleon complexes instead of an insane super genius capable of building super weapons and controlling people's minds. You know, easy mistake. If you're retarded. Pretty sure Karnak is next on my list, since unlike Maximus Karnak never went through terrigenesis so his having powers is as ridiculous as Maximus not having any. Just not sure yet whether he's powered or the graphics are just a random graphic element to simulate how he sees the world. Oh, and Lockjaw was cute but ... why'd they turn his tuning fork into just fur coloring? Was it too unrealistic for the HUGE COMPUTER GENERATED TELEPORTING DOG to have a tuning fork on his forehead? Would it take away from the freakin' immersion? Maybe we'll find out in a future episode that it was all a ruse by Maximus to hide his powers, but for now **** it I'm outraged.

I didn't have any real problem with the plot. It wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible and for what it's worth it worked. I'd probably feel differently if I had paid to see it at a theater. Also enjoyed Anson Mount's facial expressions and mannerisms as Blackagar Boltagon.

Saw Spider-Man: Homecoming over the weekend. Main takeaway is that Tony Stark might possibly be kind of a dick. I liked this Spider-Man although I'm not sure I liked it more than the "original" modern cinematic version. Obviously better than the "Amazing" movies. Was nice to skip the origin bit. Liked Keaton's character and performance. Anyway, no real complaints would watch next movie.

Also saw Ant-Man which I think I may have (surprisingly) liked more than Spider-Man. "Surprisingly" only because Spider-Man had so much more buzz around it. A few parts were goofy/made little sense but it overall worked. Didn't really push any boundaries or challenge anything but it was fun.

Didn't make time yet for Dr. Strange, MD. Then I'll be all caught up except for that second Thor movie which I have zero interest in. Really, I don't care for Thor much at all except as a secondary figure and find the character boring.

You can skip the second Thor movie. It's pretty much the worst of the MCU movies. Loki is pretty much the highpoint. I'm still debating whether I want to even see Ragnarok in November. I'm leaning towards yes, but the trailers (while admittedly awesome, as trailers often are) make it look like it's been GotG 2'd, where they went overboard on the comedy. Which, if it works it works but I'm not quite sure that's what I'm looking for in a Thor movie. The alternatives are Zack Snyder's and Joss Whedon's Justice League and just skipping the month.

Tonight The Gifted premieres after Lucifer on Fox. I doubt it'll be Legion tier, but probably somewhere near season 1 Flash. Then next week the DCW shows return and freetime once again becomes a myth.

First episode of Gifted was nothing unexpected. The special effects seem well done, and it even had a Stan Lee cameo. The "Pregnant" reveal was plenty obvious.

And I keep thinking of Chloe Grace Moretz when I see the daughter, even though I know it's not her and think they look different enough that I shouldn't mix the two. Turns out the girl played on Gotham for a few episodes. She was the cute rich girl used by Galavan to try to trick Bruce.

The boy looks familiar, but looking at his films, I don't see anything I recognize.

I thought Lucifer to be a bit disjointed. It was harder for me to follow what was going on, but could have been because I was a bit bored and wasn't fully paying attention.

That and the guy's ringtone being the 90s X-Men theme had me laughing way harder than the show's premise should allow. It wasn't an extraordinary show, but it had some pluses. The special effects of Bubblewrap Armor Girl and Blink were well done. The effects for Telegeneric Boy and Firefly Guy were kind of boring. Polaris was okay. Warpath was ... you know, after all these years I've never quite gotten a handle of just what his powers were supposed to be so as far as I can tell he was fine. Did like the subtle naming of the "bad guys," Sentinel Services.

I think I missed an episode or two of Lucifer because I don't remember anything that the show was talking about from the previous season.

Paramount Pictures has secured the rights to the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie which will be a hybrid of CGI characters and live-action, with Tim Miller rumored to be attached as director. I don't think I've ever cringed nearly as hard as with this revelation.

Another rumor, most recent James Bond Daniel Craig is being eyed to play Mister Sinister in the oft teased at but never moving Gambit movie with Channing Tatum. I can see it, but more I can hear it.

Honestly, the only real reason to see it is because there is a tie in (pretty much the whole plot) to the Infinity stones storyline. So, if only so you can avoid wondering "when/where the heck did that one come from?". I watched it the first time, and it was "ok". Basically has zero re-watchability factor though. I think I tried to do so once (cause, you know, sucker, and I buy them all on bluray), and fell asleep through the last half or so.

As to Inhumans, It was a lot better than I thought. Agree with the whole bit about Maximus. Not only being completely different than in the books, but just not making any sense at all. I mean, I get his motivations, sorta. What I don't get is why anyone at all would follow him. You've got an entire society, which, while caste based and not so great, is divided up and very strongly defined by what powers you get from teragenesis. So the lower caste resents the ruling class. I get it. But Maximus has the worst of both worlds (in this version of him anyway). He has no powers, which should make him lower than the lowest tunnel digger, yet, due to his brother being the king, he gets to live in the palace with the royals and other important people. That's not usually a formula for someone who could endear support among the angry downtrodden masses (who don't get a pass because of who they are related to), yet it's just kinda hand waved that he somehow has. Then there's the issue of the royal guards apparently also choosing to support him over their king. Something that's also just hand waved, with zero explanation.

Maybe future episodes will explain all of that. I hope so. But "don't really agree with our king continuing a policy that we've been following since the dawn of our civilization" doesn't seem like enough motivation for what happened.

A friend of mine had a negative reaction to Black Bolt. He thought he was too passive and stiff. IMO though that was the perfect portrayal of the character. That's exactly how he is in the comics. He's always shown as just standing or sitting, almost in the background, while everyone else talks, yells, argues, etc, around him, waits to make sure he's making the right choice, and then acts. Near perfect performance. Heck, the whole bit in the store buying/stealing clothes was great. Of course he just walks out in his new clothes, why would paying for something even enter his mind? Very good. The rest of the cast? Ranged from "good" to "ok". Nothing else stood out too glaringly. I didn't see Karnak as being too off the source. Over time, the books did develop his abilities to the point where they were more or less superhuman. He could calculate real world actions and reactions like a game of chess, and that's essentially how they portrayed him. I saw the graphic stuff just as how he sees the world. A bit jarring the first couple times, but after awhile it was ok.

Gifted was good too. Still getting going, but pretty darn good for a one hour pilot. I couldn't help but notice that the family name was Strucker, presumably a reference to von Strucker, which was a B plot villain back in the day, with two children with mutant powers. The girl could project force fields and the boy could blast stuff (or was it the other way around?). I'm assuming there's no actual connection, but it is interesting that they chose that name, with two children, one male and one female. Dunno. Just jumped out at me.

Was that one guy supposed to be Warpath? I thought he had the correct powerset. Didn't look very native American to me though. I guess they didn't want to be too stereotypical with their actors? Not that that's super important, but he did have strength and enhanced perception, tracking abilities, etc. So that fits. Everything else was pretty decent. We're just getting into the plot, so it's hard to say where things will go. Seemed like a good start though.

Yeah. That would actually make the character make sense. And it's at least somewhat supported in the source. Which I wasn't aware of until I just read the wiki, since I don't recall the early history of the Inhumans, just some of their later interactions in the larger universe. Yes, some Marvel stuff is before even my time.

It would certainly explain away my major issues with the character. And I'd actually give them kudos for withholding that information for later rather than jumping right out with it, as most TV shows will do (and yeah, I get the irony of this, but done to prevent viewer from becoming confused about what's going on and why). Ok. Now I'm really hoping that this is what they do, since it'll actually make it a "Of course! That's how he did all that stuff" moment, versus a season of "why the heck didn't someone just toss this kid into a dumpster like years ago?".

I caught that, but I don't think it's going to amount to much beyond an Easter Egg because Marvel Studios already used and wrecked Strucker, and these studios are notoriously territorial with their characters. Most likely like the helicarrier in Deadpool: It is, but it isn't. Personally, I can't really see them pushing that angle at all, considering the whole Nazi Sympathizer Insanely-Hinted-At-But-Not-Said-Openly Incesteous relationship. (Double because kind of gross Their power only works when they're in physical contact with each other, and during Civil War the girl was dead so the boy had her skinned and used it to wrap the hilt of a sword so he could channel his power through it.) Or maybe that'll be another cliffhanger twist.

There's a (highly unlikely) rumor floating around that since IMDb has officially announced that Tiffany Espensen has been added to the already massive cast of Avengers: Infinity War, that her character from Spider-Man: Homecoming, Cindy, is actually Cindy Moon, a relatively new character in the comics who has spider-like powers like Peter's who goes by the name Silk. Or she can be a glorified extra showing up at a school scene during a montage to show the audience the stakes the heroes are fighting for.

A bunch of shows are starting up this month on SciFi. I recorded a new one last night, but hadn't gotten around to watching it. Ghost Wars or something like that.

DVR says next week Flash, Supergirl, Legends, etc are all coming back.

I'm finally catching up on the last season of Gotham so I can start this new season. I was out of town and my DVR failed to record a few episodes, then when I came back they were no longer on Demand. But Netflix has Season 3 so I'm going to finish it off and catch up on the new season. Maybe it's because I was not tuned in for so long, but Selina's actress's face seems a bit more round and child-like than I remember. I recall questioning her age when I first started watching, as he face looked like she was a 20 year old model or something.

It also looks like Fox is purposefully sabotaging some of it's shows. Just at a quick glance it looks like they moved Lucifer to compete with Supergirl, Lethal Weapon against The Flash, and Orville against Arrow. Which sucks, because I was actually enjoying Lethal Weapon.

The first "real" new episode of The Inhumans is tonight, so here's hoping that some questions about Maximus are answered.

According to a THR rumor, Gore Verbinksi is in early talks to direct Channing Tatum in Gambit. Verbinksi's most notable projects were the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies, The Weather Man, Rango, The Lone Ranger and A Cure for Wellness.

And according to the EW, CW's Black Lightning is adding singer Jill Scott to their lineup as "the villainous Lady Eve."

Actually, speaking of Supergirl, it looks like they're bringing in Carl Lumbly to portray J'onn J'onzz's (J'onzz'?) father. What is lovely about that is is that Carl Lumbly is J'onn's voice in most of the Justice League cartoons, usually screaming from when his telepathy backfires on him. I can dig that.

Test audiences for both Justice League and Thor: Ragnarok have been generally positive, so good luck in November.

But besides that, today freetime is eliminated with the return of most of the cape tv shows (Good luck, DVRs), and Legends of Tomorrow showrunner Phil Klemmer made it clear that Matt Ryan will reprise his role as Constantine so, just by that it looks like LoT is the best show of the season.

Supergirl: Completely forgot about what happened last season. But I think I remembered most of it by the time her little dream was done. And I kept thinking "That guy reminds me a lot of the guy in SHIELD". Turns out, the actor who played Talbot is in Supergirl now.

OK KO: Captain Planet was pretty much what you'd expect, cheesy "Planeteer Alert" and all. Doctor Blight and MAL even show up.

Going to have to watch Lucifer and Gifted later... so many things this week, looks like it may be one or two a night followed by a weekend binge of everything else that piles up.

Germany next week. So I'll probably be even further behind.

I enjoyed the hell out of that.

I went the other way. I watched Lucifer and recorded Supergirl. Which worked out, since Supergirl seems to have gone into overdrive on the preachiness. Not even five minutes in and there was a "evil heartless development businessman with a problem with the media reporting things about him, after which Supergirl overcomes a giant phallic symbol. Also who the **** talks about their personal life during a nuclear crisis? We get it, they're lesbians. I guess the end where that mother got super strength and then started having nightmares about Kara's dream is interesting, though.

Lucifer: I'm going to go ahead and assume the new Lieutenant is the big bad. At first I thought his being a dick was just a cover for a heart of gold personality, but then he confided in Lucifer that he was actually a good guy chasing the same mysterious big bad and I always assume the opposite when it comes to these kinds of shows.

The Gifted: Enjoying the hell out of how much they're dedicating their budget to special effects. So accustomed to how cheap the DCW and ABC shows are that it's mind blowing seeing Blink throwing portals around like there's no season 2. Also the show is quickly looking like a Burn Notice reunion.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer.

Justice League extended trailer. Like, basically the whole movie.

The guy with the axe is Steppenwolf, who I am betting is actually Clark because that's the kind of twist that a director like Snyder would throw in and expect no one to see coming.

I'm imagining a character like the friend from Spiderman Homecoming? (My database of young overweight hispanic actors is pretty much Null). And I know pretty much zero Korean or African American child actors.

I just started this week's Lucifer this morning, but work and all... I did finish Gifted last night. So I think I'm caught up on Monday. I take it Warpath's mutant power is Super-IndianNative American Tracking ability? He was in the X-men movie with the Future Time Travel stuff, right? I don't recall him doing much beyond playing lookout for the group as they kept sending Kitty back in time.

Yesterday was Patch day on FFXIV (I still play). So I didn't do anything but bash my characters face against new content with 23 other players, reminding me how much I hate having to deal with people in game. 2 hour time frame to complete the new content, 10 minutes in you die to something, half the people start ******** and demanding we quit. Two attempts (cause first one they successfully complained enough that enough people voted to quit after 30 minutes) we cleared the content after 90 minutes... joys of having to deal with more than just a couple people you normally do. Seems when you get more than like... 8 people together in these games the asshole factor starts to grow exponentially with each additional player.

His powerset usually revolved around being a brick. Strength, endurance, some agility. Currently he also has a healing factor. The tracking stuff I usually just attributed to less-than-PC writing ("He's an Indian Native American, must be good at tracking!").

In the years since I quit MMOs I've come to the realization that the genre is marketed towards introverts while built for extroverts, so you end up with a bunch of people that aren't good at group projects forced into grouping to make any real advancement. It's kind of cruel if you really think about it.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi writer/director Rian Johnson recently talked about why he was introducing The Porg into the Star Wars universe. The answer was a lie and unimportant because it wasn't "merchandising," which anyone with a pulse (and some without) can recognize the cute little bird-things are there to only sell toys to kids.

According to journalist Scott Mendelson, who allegedly has seen Thor: Ragnarok, there will be two end credit scenes. One is plot-related, while the second is a straight joke. Hopefully about Thor's roommate.

Also, Lego announced there will be a Black Panther movie, now that Lego versions of movies is a thing.

Last night's South Park episode was an extended commercial for their game coming out next week, The Fractured But Whole. Mix in a bit about Facebook, Zuckerberg, and Fake News. Always fun to see Professor Chaos though.

No End House is wrapping up. I kind of forgot it was only a 6 episode series, and the wrapping up of stuff struck me as strange for a moment until I remembered.
