FFXI hates...soloers? =xFollow

#1 Jul 05 2010 at 1:25 AM Rating: Decent
I've been playing FFXI on and off for about..two to three months now, and it kinda dawned on me: It's hard to solo train 'easily' up to a certain point.

I, also, realize that FFXI promotes Partying with other players to level/have fun, but it's a bit hard without a USB Keyboard, as I'm playing on an Xbox360. I know that it doesn't/shouldn't stop me from being able to join a party as I would still be able to talk to the other players, albeit much slower than I'd like.

I do suppose it's possible to solo to high levels, but it'd take much longer than it would to train in a party.
Now, I'm not too sure on what anybody could do to help in terms of better communication (unless someone mailed me a USB Keyboard or the money to get one =/), but I do believe that it's not impossible for someone to help me/party with me. They'd just have to get used to the fact that I won't be able to say much/'type' slowly on the virtual keyboard -.-;

If someone feels like helping, even just a little, feel free to message me ^^;

As you stated, soloing exp doesnt come as fast as party exp. The preffered job for soloing exp can change depending on the level and job somewhat.

In low levels thf is a decent soloer (IMO) because of the status bolts (bloody mainly) at level 15. Debuff bolt to pull back, fight as normal, inter-mitten bloody bolts during fight.

As far as the keyboard, i dont know much about 360, but do you have to use a MS certified keyboard? If not, you can pick up a USB KB from '5 below'. Or you can get a USB 'dongle' to connect a standard windows KB to a USB port.

Any standard USB keyboard will work on an Xbox 360. Doesn't matter the brand, so pick up any cheap USB keyboard. The Xbox chat pad, if you have one, will also work. I don't recommend it, however.

Soloing is a lot more tolerable than it used to be, but it will always be slower then parties. You could always seek for a party while you solo, and when you get picked up, you'll be banking EXP in no time. This is the basic nature of the game, really.

Allllrighty. Thanks for the information ^^.
I probably will end up training Thief, even if only to get more gil/loot.

And since I don't want to make another thread (seems a bit pointless for something not too important):
Where would be a good idea to solo train? Since it'd be a while before I can get a keyboard =|
and as well, what would be good to sell at the AH for gil? -.o;

It would help to know what level your jobs are, so we know what you can or can not fight.

No one is going to tell you their own personal secrets to making gil. It's nothing personal, of course. I personally don't have a secret, wish I did, but all I can suggest to you is that you search around this site, or even google anything related to FFXI. There is tons of information, spread across many different sites, which doesn't exclude this one. Just do some digging, my friend.

I could provide you with some links, but doing the research on your own allows you to find what you need, and possibly find other things you may have questions about.

Good luck, man.

Well, I do realize anybody wouldn't want to tell anyone else their secrets to getting gil, that'd just create competition while farming it. =P

And..well, I already said my job levels but..: War 11, RDM 8.
I have been looking around for places to train online but there's few solo guides, compared to the numerous party training guides.. I could try Konschtat Highlands until about...12 or 13 but I wouldn't really know after that ._.

Another noobish/random question, How much does Stygian Ash sell for? :|

Konschat(sp) is a good place; from the exit to bastok, you can fight around 10-12, then the deeper you go in (towards valkrum dunes) you'll be able to get decent exp until level 17ish...

Stygian ash... no idea what it is, but you can check ffxiah.com for prices on stuff. but REMEMBER the prices are only for the Jeuno AH, not bastoks, sandorias, or windursts.
