So I've been playing FFXI about a month and a half. I've dabbled in most of the classes (and I still do) and play whatever I feel like or what could be used to help some others level up.
Anyway, thoughout all of this I amassed 130k at a point in time. Now I'm throwing it all away at a wedding and dress combo. That is, if the application ever goes though.
Now, I'm sitting on 150k for pocket change but... I do wonder what I could of done with 270k.
The wedding isn't love or anything, either. It's two people having fun. (And annoying anyone in emote range ^^) And, we all know, getting married offers the couple nothing excpet less mog house space due to a ring that you'll never wear except when you're not doing anything. (Unless you're quirky like me ^^; )
Also, throwing gil away is a common practice for me. I give away the things I use for cooking skillups before I sell to NPCs (hey, I only have 7 AH spaces) I give away gear to people when I don't need it. I give away unwanted crop results to LS members who can use them - and ask for nothing in return. And tonight I'm going fishing to get skill ups for myself, and moat carp for a friend. I give wind crystals to the LS bonecrafter, fire crystals to the LS goldsmith, and I get their water crystals in exchange. I also Raise for free and plan to tele for free as well.
Am I too nice? Is this why I'm so poor? (not even 300k in 2 months of playing I mean) Am I being stupid? What do you all think?

Is it possible to be "too nice"? no, it's not. it IS possible to be..... what's the word... naive? ignorant?
if you teleport for free, you'll get alot of business. you will have alot of White Mages hating you (include me ;D ), and you'll ALWAYS have people begging for teleports when it's not convenient for you. Also, how long could you sit in jueno, offer free teleports, and actually enjoy yourself? lmao this game is all about numbers going up, right? well, no $$ will go up, only your (Enhancing Magic) (Skill).
Giving free crystals and items are great, but people tend to expect it next time. It's just human nature. At some point you'll need armor or items, and you'll be low on gil. Will they help you out? Will you expect them to? If you can honestly give people these items/money/armor pieces, and NOT expect it to be paid back, then you're good to go =) Can't always expect it to come back though (i doubt those are your intentions, i know).
Still, i'd love to bring you into my LS! not for free stuff, i'm more than hooked up with money/items, but for the good nature of your play. look me up sometime!

I never expect anything back, be it gil for a service, crystals, or gear. I mean, that's human nature for the most part. ^^;

I have 4 ls Grim lol. Yea you sound like a really nice guy, I wish there were more of you in this game lol. Over the last 2 weeks ive been helping people SOO much with AFs/missions/quests i havent had anytime to myself. Hell i logged onto a friends account to get him a rdm testimony cuz he was sick of hunting them (Maat 7 friend 0)
