1.15a Has Arrived!

The first of the February patches is now live

Patch 1.5a, which is to be the first of the, at least, bi-monthly patches (no longer referred to as Version Updates) has arrived!  The first of many upcoming and much called for updates to XIV is already looking promising.  From things such as SP improvements to continual improvements to the Market Ward system, Square-Enix, under the new direction of Naoki Yoshida, looks to be taking us in the right direction.

Check out the details at the Lodestone.

Adding things that should've been done on 2010 updates!

Adding more sp to kills when it should've been added long before they decide on how the sp was change to getting sp a mob. But how long are gonna stay with the game. I personally hate crafting in this game. And the lack of really actual MMO Class (more appealing job) need to be added they failed the moment they decide to have crafting and gathering as main job. (big time). Actually only thing that kills the game for me so much. I wanna see Yoshi-P say he adding more appealing jobs like SAM, NIN, and other more common FF jobs. (***** waiting on the exspension!)

Look at crafting in FFXIV. They are standard job classes, as opposed to crafting skills. In FFXI you could craft and craft and craft, and end up with a 0.1 skill increase.. maybe. In XIV every time you synth, even if you fail, you get some SP out of it. I do not see how this is "fail".

As for the gathering jobs, I think it's a great deterrent to RMTs. You can't just create a new character and run off gathering gold ores. You have to work at it. Plus, I have fun with it. My main job is Miner (currently 25), and I'm getting my Botanist up there, too. Just because you don't find a particular job fun or interesting doesn't mean someone else doesn't.

Finally, actual DoW/M jobs.. in XI, before Zilart, you had 6 to choose from. WAR MNK THF WHM BLM RDM. That was it. Here, you have CON THM GLA PUG LNC ARC MRD. Yeah.. comparable.

Most people are more interested with the developers fixing the major game-breaking issues (which they are rapidly working on) before worrying about extra content and job classes.

Give it time.

Had a lot of fun tonight :) Saw a LOT more people in-game tonight too :) One happy Lalafell....and these aren't even the fixes I really want. (I'm all for new storyline and quest missions and showing food stats so the Chef's stand a chance selling their wares) But love the improvements :) -KK

"Defeating an enemy of a higher rank than oneself now awards more skill and experience points, while defeating lower rank enemies yields less skill and experience points."

Lol it's sorta' funny considering how obvious this is and how long it has taken for the developers to figure this one out lol!
Fantastic Patch!

It's great to see even relatively minor things along with major things being improved upon! For example, having 1 pane for market wards rather than having 2 separate panes: minor but essential to smoothing out UI. Keep it up Yoshi-P! XD

There are no suprises here. The patch contains all the updates that Yoshi P. said would happen. Trust factor is rising steadily. Keep it up

So should we expect to see another patch in 2 weeks? "In the Letter From the Producer 2", he seemed to suggest we wouldn't get another patch until early march. Which is it?
