The January Version Update Storms In!

 The wait is over! The January version update for Final Fantasy XI has officially arrived, bringing about new and revamped content for players both old and new! New Records of Eminence trials have been implemented, including ones tasking you to do battle with some memorable old Notorious Monsters. Speaking of battling familiar faces, high-level versions of the Kam'lanaut and Eald'narche battles from the Rise of the Zilart expansion have also been implemented, testing players mettle to their max.

Several job adjustments have also been added, including many adjustments to pet jobs to increase their damage outputs!

Event-related

Records of Eminence has undergone the following additions and adjustments.

New objectives have been introduced.

 

  • Players may now choose whether they want one, three, or twelve of the following rewards:

  • Players must be level 95 or greater and have cleared the original missions in order to purchase these items.

    Each mission battlefield is divided into five levels of difficulty. Boss strength, number and drop rate of spoils, and content level increase in line with difficulty.

  • Spoils
    Spoils are rewarded both for vanquishing the boss and clearing the battlefield. A designated amount of spoils will be distributed to all adventurers clearing the battlefield.

    Among the available rewards are items needed to reforge artifact armor to item level 119 as well as relic, mythic, and empyrean weapons.

  • The effects of Treasure Hunter are now active in the following high-tier mission battlefields at the “Very Difficult” setting.

    * In accordance with this adjustment, the number of items needed for reforging artifact armor that drop at this difficulty setting has been decreased by one.
  • The following materials required to reforge artifact armor to item level 119 have been added to the list of spoils that may be obtained from clearing the battlefields below.

The following job adjustments have been made.

Beastmaster

  • The damage and strength of special abilities of familiars called with the “Call Beast” ability have been increased.

Ninja

 

  • The effects of the following techniques have been adjusted.
    • Tonko: Ichi
      Increased from 180 seconds to 420 seconds.
    • Tonko: Ni
      Increased from 300 seconds to 600 seconds.
    • Monomi: Ichi
      Increased from 180 seconds to 420 seconds.

Dragoon

 

  • The damage wyverns deal has been increased along with their accuracy.

Summoner

 

  • The damage elementals and avatars deal has been increased along with their accuracy and the amount of enmity they generate.

Puppetmaster

  • Spectral Jig's duration has been adjusted to always last 180 seconds.
    * Equipment that augments Spectral Jig duration will continue to function normally.
  • The colonization rate increase from successful lair and colonization reives is now larger than before.
  • The following adjustments have been made to Monstrosity.
    • Teyrnon in The Feretory now grants support effects to monipulators in exchange for infamy.

  • New items have been introduced.
  • The following obtainment methods have been introduced for the items below.
    • Apkallu that inhabit Marjami Ravine now drop Apkallufa.
    • Akaso may now be obtained instead of Moko Grass when harvesting in Yorcia Weald.

System-related

  • The following commands have been introduced.
    • /ignorefaith [subcommand] and /ignoretrust [subcommand]
      Prevents the cursor from targeting alter egos that belong to other players.
      >>Subcommands:
      on Disables targeting of alter egos.
      off Enables targeting of alter egos.
  • The following currencies have been added to the Currencies menu.

Resolved Issues

  • The issue with wherein Savage Hound Condottiere would not display on the map after using Wide Scan during Campaign battles.
  • The issue wherein familiars would not generate enmity from using the raaz special attack Sweeping Gouge.
  • The issue wherein it would take an unintentionally long time for Inguza manipulators to become transparent when using the ninjutsu Tonko.
  • The issue wherein players were unable to use the beastmaster ability Gauge when summoning an alter ego.
  • The issue wherein the ranges for the Trion alter ego abilities Red Lotus Blade and Savage Blade were different than intended.
  • The issue with alter egos of Mihli Aliapoh countering wherein they would not perform the appropriate animation and the corresponding log would not appear.
  • The issue wherein the players could not acquire a cipher of Prince Trion by examining the “Door:Prince Royal's Rm” in Chateau d'Oraguille while undertaking the quest “Under Oath.”
  • The issue with Trust wherein players were able to confirm the names of participating NPCs before completing the tutorial quest.
  • The issue wherein the help text for certain items contained errors.
  • The issue wherein the graphics for the item Maxixi Toeshoes +1 would not display correctly for female characters.
  • The issue wherein the number of allied notes needed to exchange for rewards displayed at 1.5 times the normal value when players were under the effects of Sigil.
  • The issue wherein the following NPCs would impart erroneous information to players about how much longer the effects of Sigil would last.

  • The issue with Records of Eminence wherein exchanging A.M.A.N. vouchers while in possession of over 50,000 Fields of Valor points would cause the quest “Succor to the Sidhe” to reset and cause any weapons entrusted to Callisto to vanish.
  • The issue wherein the cursor would move to unintended positions after selecting Records of Eminence objectives with the mouse.
  • The issue with the Currencies menu wherein the NPCs with which certain currencies could be exchanged were not displayed.
  • The issue wherein “Home Point #1” and “Home Point #2” would display as superimposed upon each other when marked on maps of Bastok Mines.
  • The issue wherein players would exhibit unintentionally slow movement speeds when moving sideways after locking onto a target.

  • Defeating enemies in Abyssean areas does not count toward completion of the following Records of Eminence objectives.

  • Attacks on enemies who absorb players’ attacks during the Records of Eminence objective “Total Healing I” count towards its completion.
  • Alter egos cast enfeebling magic related to resistances that enemies possess.
  • Alter egos’ skill levels do not increase commensurately with the item levels of equipment players have equipped.
  • Alter egos do not heal under certain conditions.
  • The blue cursor that displays when using the placeholderin macros does not display for alter egos.
  • Players cannot use the placeholderin Monstrosity.
  • Players lose the following boons when zoning in to a different area while in belligerency during a bout of Monstrosity.

  • Using the ability Soul Enslavement occasionally causes dark knights to absorb MP.
