I didn't know what to do the week before it was coming out. If buying the UK version or importing the expansion. Anyway it would cost me exactly the same.

So how the NA version was coming later, and imported would take a week for delivery the i decided to buy the whole UK game the day of the realese.

So i came that friday night, tried to install the CoP disk and i couldn't. So i said ok, let's uninstall the NA ver and install the UK one.

After installing the POL disk i went to login with my account and it didn't work! So i emailed SE right away told them about this and they just said, sorry the NA POL accounts aren't compatible with the UK ver, so i was like wtf!!

Had to re-install the old game, updated like for 12 hours lol, sell the UK game on ebay almost for half price and buy the NA CoP.

Was wondering that since both UK and NA speak English, what the differences would be in the versions.

Maybe if it includes languages other then English, but then I would expect a translator for it. Or maybe they just added "chap"? ^_~

Well, as Bozzie said, the most GM's CONFIRMED it would work and that's why most people tried it anyway. They should have made a lot bigger deal of it...



I'm not sure what you mean. You can log in with ANY POL ID to ANY version of POL. But the problem is: if you're using NA POL ID on EU POL, there's nothing you can change about the POL ID. You can play all right, but activating the expansion won't work. And also you can't activate EU codes on US POL.

And the codes are per POL ID, not per computer. So at least I can't think of any way to make the 2 work.

Ok i have the US version with the RoZ expantion, i have created my account and played for a while. But i also have the full EUR version all expansion paks. Wont installing and registring the codes for the EUR version on your computer and then using you POL ID from the US version work? It is all registerd on the server. My friend logged into my game using his ID that was not registerd with my codes on my computer. So now i am confused.

Does that mean that if i have the US version on my computer, and the EUR version on a second computer my account will only work on the US version.

I am not talking about transfering characters from one ID to another i am talking about using two different ID's to log into the one version.

Do i make sense?

Well i did get the full EUR version for free so no biggie

Still waiting for my CoP to arrive in the mail... Good thing the imported EXP is cheaper than buying the package in a shop here. BTW, for the people thinking of buying a full Euro version now; you can't transfer your character from one POL ID to another...

I already suspected this. I'm European and got the US release of FFXI with RotZ included. Now Chains of Promathia is on its way - from the US. I think it makes sense... I'm sorry for the European players who lost money on this, but a general rule is when you import things, any add-ons and such you should import as well. Compare it to DVD regions, or the difference between PAL and NTSC format. It's like that with a lot of media. ^^

The real problem is that many GMs confirmed it would work... like they did to me, but
lucky a LS freind said it wouldnt work before i orderd the UK version. :D

Wow, that came like 2 weeks too late. -.-' Glad there was a topic on this on the forums, because I had ordered it and returned it before I got the bad of it. But MANY people lost the ~50 € in this and all because of SE...

It's not a problem to me, I imported CoP from NA with very little difficulty, and I was hardly going to pay for all three codes and only use one just to get into CoP areas a few days earlier, was I?
