ok the news says the maintenance was from 0030 to 0200 PST. So its is over right? So why am I NOT able to log in to playonline at all? WTF is going in here? Anyone have any suggestions? Also. Why all the talk about Dune? This is a FFXI website. If you want to talk about Dune then go to a Dune forum or a Dune chatroom.

My dad was WAY into Dune, but I never got it. It didn't seem like a good book/series at all. Just kinda WAY outta this world and too far-fetched.

That's just my opinion though. Read whatcha want to.

You have to have a certain mindset going into reading it. Myself, I found it very fulfilling and a fun read. Everyone thinks differently.

Nah, I've never read the series. :P

    Lier, Lier, Lier!!!!
On a side note, it's ironic that the mighty Maud'dib is named after a mouse. lol

Anyway, I'd have to say I'm not complaining when SE does maintance. They've shown so far that they are at least trying to fix problems that are there. To bad they can't do much about all the problems though. (ie: gilfarmers)

Gilfarmers must be dealt with by the community withing the servers. For more information, review a thread by Glance on the Phoenix Server Forum

I have noticed nothing but good things whenever SE does maintenance. I am definately not complaining. All the maintenance only shows how much SE cares about the game. They can always turn a blind eye on certain things, but I am glad they have quality people on top of it.

1.5 million + people playing... narf... thats why the need maintanance... servers arent magic... they f up just your pcs or ps2s do... and if they f up real bad the have 1.5 million people ******* "whys my character deleted"... so yah, its gona happen.

I have 5 characters myself... I dunno really how many players their are total on all these servers, but I can assure you their are ALOT.

Just to be clear, there aren't 1.5 million Players in FFXI.

There are 1.5 million "characters" in FFXI. Specifically, 1.5 million Content IDs tagged for FFXI use.

At last count, which is just after the EU release, I believe it is up to something like 550,00 subscribers worldwide.

Be sure to check out the newer books by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson... they didn't follow the path I expected them to (since it differed from the Dune Encyclopedia's version of 'history'), but I have found them to be very enjoyable.

Hopefully Dune 7 will come out soon too - Brian mentioned that Frank left the outline to the story in a safety deposit box nobody knew about. I can't wait to read what the heck all of the Honored Matres were so scared of... maybe they re-encountered some remnants of Omnius. *gasp*
