Hi i am a level 70 rng on Remora. I am from the Netherlands and imported the game from USA a year ago !

I dont see any problem that it is in english, almost every game is ! So you would expect any Europian should be able too play. Here in the Netherlands and i am pretty sure it also counts for Belgium almost all the Youth can speak, write and read english quit well... Same for the most other Northern Europian countries.

The problems come in in the Southern parts of Europe ( spain, Italie, Greece, France ) most of them dont speak english and if they do its still really bad many time.... So i do agree S.E. should had @ least brought the game out in Spanish and French as well...

About the creditcard issue. I think it is true the Credit Card isnt as common In Europe as it is in USA, Espcially for the Younger plp. S.E. should had given plp more opportunities too pay. I am pretty sure more plp would had been playing ffxi than...

Last word for the new EU gamers. I know the start is really hard, Gil comes in really too slow and is imo too hard too obtain. The USA have 1 year advantage of you and the JP even 2. Its not fair since they already can buy they really good expensive low lvl items like astralrings, Emp. Hairpin, leaping boots etc...

but pls dont give up and hang in, Especially when you are reaching about lvl 50 it can be quit boring. xpping starts getting really slow ( you need tremendous more ammounts too level + 50 than before that )

BUT when u proccees and are getting around lvl 65 the game is getting real great. There are really cool ZM fights, you start doing harder Bcnm;s and maybe if you are lucky you can enter a HNM LS. And trust me fightning HNM and gods, entering Dynamis ( entering the normals cities occupied by beastman ) is worth all the trouble of getting too the highlevels !

Gl on ur advanture

PS if you are on Remora server and you need help sometimes for a missions dont hasitate too ask me.

My ingame name is Cahieta

Though dont ask me for Gil since i wont give that away :P xD
new player too

I don't know about everyone else, but im enjoying having some non-english speaking people on my server. I'm American fully, don't get me wrong, but i also speak spanish, and my brother speaks french. I have quite a few people that i have invited to my linkshell that speak spanish and other languages, so it's very diverse. I think diverse cultures is what FFXI is all about, i mean, look at all the different races that we play and, for the rpgers among us, the character traits that we portray in the game. I think the expansion, one it takes off more, will be wonderful.

Hang in there!!! It is challenging at first, but that makes your goals all that more sweet when you accomplish them. I just started the game 3 months ago, and i've met alot of people willing to go out of there way to help me. So don't be discouraged by the expansive nature of the game. They put that in there for when you get to lev75 everything, and feel bored. (Hence CoP) I was a lev10 WHM for a week when i started. And then when i got to Quifm, i died 14 times in 3 DAYS. Now im lev35 WHM workin on gettin my first 3 teleports, and having the time of my life. So hang in there!!!! GL to you.
More players...Yes!

I would like more people, if we all helped some new players out it wouldn't be such a gap between us all.

Hi,

I just wanna write down what I'm thinking about cause I'm from Europe (excatly from Swiss). We've got our europe version (game in english, handbook in German, CD incl. all Add-Ons) And the price of the game is very cheap. About CHF 70.- (57$). But in Europe, not much young peoples have credit card and they need to ask their parents about that. And most parents say "no". We can't pay the game with any other method. Maybe it'll be easier, if we can pay that with paypal or also by abonement. It's quiet expensive then, when we pay CHF15.-/mt and CHF1.2 for each extra char.

The mostly problem is, that the young plp here can't speak english and it's also very difficult for them to find any "ownLanguage" Server. So the game in "non-english" europe is not as popular then in Asia and US.

The People here prefer more games like Lineage 2, which you can get a days card from some shops and of course lot of offline RPG. MMORPG isn't too much popular here in europe.

I don't think the is too old and the grafics is no more modern enought. For me, ffxi is one of the best MMORPG which I ever game. The Servers are very stabil and the communications tools are very interessting and working well.

The problem is... it's still a very long way for a newbie to working until they've lvl 60. =( Tis game take too much time but I still lovethis game =D

Regards,
Flute

BTW, thx a lot. Well, a lot of Swiss can speak and write english very well. We've made a research here in Switzerland half a year ago. Lot of plp 30+ don't wanna play Videogames anymore or they don't wanna pay any extras to play onlinegames. And lot of young plp can't understand english. That's the problem of ffxi. The game is supporting the main languages English and Japanese. Maybe FFXI need also make some better translations to other languages to get more players.

I've also try Everquest II. The game is full translated in different countries. That's also the reason, why mostly plp like to play everquest and other mmorpg then ffxi.

And ffxi is also a very complicated games, which you need to know lot of commands. You can try other mmorpg. There's more clickable menues then ffxi. But I still like to give in commands and using macros then click overwhere =)

You seem to know english very well so I think you'll be ok. You seem to speak it better than most people I've run across in the game. I'm sorry if it's a different situation for your friends though.

As far as the leveling goes yeah it is a long way, and the best advice I can give you is to not rush to the top but just move at a pace that you have fun with and enjoy the ride. There's a lot to do in this game and it's easy to just get caught up in leveling. Best of luck to you.

They are only doing this because FFXI did not work as well as they had expected. I talked to my cousin in France who is an avid gamer and said very few of his friends bought FFXI. They consider the game too old and do not like the serious disadvantage they will have over everyone else.

And they're right.

Can't say I blame them. No one wants to get in to a game where everyone is so much higher than them and living in an economy that's shifted towards hi level people that can make a lot of money quickly compared to a lower level player. In my humble opinion Square should have created a new server just for these new players, no world shifts or anything, just simply a server where everyone starts fresh.
Yay!

The game should have a feature that removes IDs that have been erased from the server, automatically. *shrugs*
