Description

The birdlike beastmen known as the Yagudo spent decades carving this stronghold out of the mountains in the Meriphataud Range. In addition to being strictly guarded, the interior of the castle is extremely complex and littered with traps and curses that only members of the Yagudo Theomilitary have been informed of.

One stilly question on this webpage why are the maps in Japenese when Ive seen copy of the same map at FFXI ATlas site in english, there something fishy about why the web master left this up, I cant read a word of what the maps say other than the directions drawn the map, nor can I read japanese!

Whoever labelled this map did it in a very confusing manner, not that it matters nowadays.
Blank Spot?
# Sep 10 2006 at 12:38 AM Rating: Decent
Anyone know what the blank spot on one of those stone things on top of the Altar where Genkai 3 is. Its where a Yagudo Templar(SAM) and Yagudo High Priest(WHM) are standing.

Brass Doors

Hope to shed a bit of light on the subject. There are three main brass doors (check Somepage maps). Note that all of this is SIGHT aggro (invis, powders or Tonko) except at the pool area (see #3 below).

1) Enter from Meri Mts. At first hall, go left, then first right into large room, go straight across to the east. Take the passageway to the east, curves south, take 1st left. First brass door is ahead of you. 2 switches. You can check either switch, liklihood of falling thru trap door 50%, unless you run back quickly.

2) Once through the door, head to the first T junction, take a left, follow to next T junction, take a right to 3d T junction. At this point, go left to the wall, open the concealed doors. Check the position of the levers on the mechanism; next brass door will have same pattern. 2 Yags in room. Exit room directly west (will end up going west, north, west, north) and you will come out on ledge over large open area. Take a right all the way to the wall, enter the passageway and take 2d right. Left out the door, and go across the bridge. 2d brass door is ahead of you. Open with the pattern of levers you saw in the concealed room.

3) You will be heading up stairs and Yags will be getting stronger. You will ultimately come into a large room with a pool in the middle. This is where you fish for Pld AF. Note: leeches in the pool are SOUND aggro, but you can avoid by crossing the room to the passage in the opposite corner by hugging the walls.

4) More stairs, stronger Yags. At top of stairs, you will be facing the 3d brass door in the distance. Central hall here is perpendicular to your path, and at each end of central hall are 2 rooms. In order to open the brass doors (unless somebody is in the room behind the doors and opens it), you will have to light the torches on high stands next to the door. You do this by going to one of the four corner rooms and clicking on the mechanism. There are almost always Yags that will aggro to at least high 60s, so you can only do it by dropping invis when they are turned, and reapplying. Your partner(s) should be at the brass door to enter as soon as it opens; can be opened for you from the inside.

5) At the altar, you can enter passwords (either look for them, or look for the list of possible passwords and keep trying until 3 are accepted).

Hope this helps. Have fun with the Yags, and good luck.

Someone might have already posted this further down, but it deserves to be posted again. The Door with the 4 Handles is easy to open. On the same map as the door at (I-10)behind an unmarked door is another set of handles that shows the correct order.

What would the minimum lvl be to safely farm in here? I'm at lvl 52 atm, I don't go very far from the zone point to the mountains. Is it safe to kill most of the Yagudo on the first, maybe second floor without worry of getting massacred if 2-3 of them gang up?

Can anyone tell me how to get past this Brass Door?! i passed the 1st one, and the 2nd one doesnt have any handles or levers to open it how do i get past it >.<, my pt is gettin pissed cause we have used Escape 20 times and gone back tryin new routes and its getting annoying ; ;
RE: Magicite Rank 4-2

Ok, there are 3 brass doors, I'm going to assume the first one is the one with the double handles trap door. The second door where you fight the Yag Assasines is a little dangerouse to open. You have to walk to each of the torches and light them. I'm not sure if you can light them while invis is up but I just simply walked near it and it lit, once all are lit the door will open. then you must key in the password to make the statue open the drop door, the next brass door I have never opened, but when doing AF here a strange key dropped, I'm assuming its used to open the next brass door past the crest and yag high priest, I hope this helped, Good Luck

I can't say exactly when our party started getting agro when we went here for several peoples AF. I would just keep checking them to see what they rate and go to the area on this site that tells you what mobs are there and you will know which ones have the potential of agro'ing you.
4 Levers?

if you are having problems opening the second door, try standing away from the torch.

I stood right next to it and it told me I couldn't reach it. When I took a couple steps back, the door opened.

Coffer Key

What is the Deal with this place. I have been coffer key hunting for 3 weeks and not a single drop. Almost every time I come here I see a coffer chest. Makes me sick. I need this key to complete my AF. /sigh

Key
# Aug 02 2004 at 4:52 AM Rating: Decent
I saw a key drop, description said something like, this key grants access to the second floor of castle oztroja, dropped from the yagudo that drop coffer keys. on this map http://www.clanwind.com/ffxi/library/maps/castleoztroja.jpg the 2nd one that has the coffer spawns at H-7 there is a door i assume that's what the key is for?
Eek!

Davoi and Beadeaux magicites were a sinch compared to this. Constantly keeping Sneak and Invisible up was a hassle to say the least. I easily got lost in the hallways. If you plan to go coffer hunting here, get recognized with this place!
OI castle
# Jul 26 2004 at 6:52 AM Rating: Default
The castle was clearly the hardest one of all those.. I did it with a friend of mean and finished it at 4:30am.. got rank 5 I died right infront of door which you use the torch because it keep reading cannont reach and I was close enough to be permently attached for life. My friend lvl 42war/ subbed rdm for sneak
and me 46war/ subbed whm for sneak. Prism powder is CRAP! it lasted about 25-40 seconds that that junk is expensive I ran out right before the door and so did my friend. BST/RDM I believe tractored me threw the door and raised me... only had 9 minutes before timer was it.. I live and got it done..
RE: OI castle
# Nov 19 2005 at 6:26 PM Rating: Decent
there is no way a bst/rdm tractored and raised you, rdm doesn't have tractor, so either it was a rdm/bst hunting nm's, or somethin else.
