Coffer Chest in Quick Sand Caves
# Feb 20 2007 at 1:48 PM Rating: Decent
According to ffxi-atlas.com these can also be found in the coffer chest of Quick Sand Caves. I have not proven it or tested it out yet (I just found this out), but I wanted to help out as many people as possible since I had to pay for mine. ******* sword non-whms!!! You want a rII? Then let us have the scroll for a cheap price.

The price at Auction House in Jeuno on server Lakshmi is now 220k
For white mages who can earn up to more than 100k at least a day on teleporting and backwarping, shouldnt this be an too awful price, eh?

At Lakshmi Jeuno AH, it's sells for 220k, not to bad for a whm that can earn kk's in tonns on teleporting.
R2... is it worth it? Of course it is
# Aug 16 2006 at 5:30 PM Rating: Decent
Ok....

I've managed, after a very long slog to get my whitemage to 52, and my blackmage not far behind on 51. I've been constantly bit.... complaining to my LS and anyone who'll listen about the 50-60 slog for both of them.

Not only do you have the pain in the backside bit of trying to get all your AF, which you have to beg for help on (oooh, you've already got to 75 on another job?? /smile for you sir) but then you have a load of spells to get.

The spells I'm talking about are pretty obvious... Raise II (oooh, that'll be this thread) for whm, ancient spells for blm etc. Now for someone who hasnt brought any gils, thats quite a lot. So I started thinking about this money thing, and I've come to the conclusion that yes, I'm going to buy R2 when it gets to that time.

My reasons are this....

Firstly, yes, I know its kinda expected of me, and until I get those extra few levels until RR2, I might be asking for one myself (esp in my blm guise)

Secondly, we mages are not the only ones to have to buys very expensive stuff. Take here for example the Scorpion Harness, goodness knows how many gils (thanks whatsit I'm not a DD), armour that goes up in price exponentially accourding to lvl almost. Yeah, you can sell your old stuff now you dont need it, but the new stuff is costing 5 times as much.

Thirdly, since I started as BLm, I'm really thankful I kept whm up with it... I'm an unabashed Telewhore. I managed to quest all my scrolls ( a bit of help from random ppl, who are noramlly happy to help someone over their head without asking too many questions) and ding! I have a failsafe mehtod of getting up to 100k per hour. So since I've got hat guarenteed income (or near enough) I'm happy to shell out on a few spells now and then.

Fourthly, Even though I've had some horrible luck doing them, this is what your beastmans seals are for. I've done Worms Turn now 5 or 6 times, and I've got a Utsusemi:ni once, and erase twice, which isnt too bad by all accounts.

I think what I'm really trying to say is.... yes, it's expensive, but so's everything else decent and "expected" of you, no matter what your job or level. Dont take the easy route out and buy gil, take a risk on a BCNM or Pl someone for a while. It all adds up and before you know it you'll be the R2-runaround man of your LS (Hey Kahlane, come to so-and-so and R2 my please, we've only got a RDM-blah blah blah etc etc etc).

This is as well...; I know you'll all moan at the price, but I know you'll all get it too ;-)

when i first started watching the price it was at 600k, ten it was at 900k, i checked later, it has gone back down to 750k, only to be brought up to one million.
You think you have it bad.

Kick in the spine indeed.

This spell is 300k on UNICORN..
It's like the Erase story all over again.. because us whms are "expected" to have it.. so i actually have 300k atm.. but if I buy it then I don't have money for Shellra3 etc.. I agree with a post made by Onyrica on Sep 9th 2005 scroll to it and read it..

When i am called to a raise.. they always ask me for raise2 and i am not even 56 yet (54 atm) so what happens when i am 56 and i can't afford it? the game economy sucks sometimes.. i got 2 levels to wait lets see if it drops..

Well what I say is:

If people want r2, they should stop selling it that high.

if the population doesn't get a r2 when they're dead, it's their own greedy fault.

I'm not whm, so take my words for what they're worth.

Hi i understand what you are saying and i feel some of what you are saying is true that we whm should have raise and erase and they are just too expensvie. But in saying that another post stated that we are not the only job paying out take ninja foe example.I payed 300k for my teleport vahla its 700k for erase and 190k for raise II on lakshmi server so before you think you have it hard try being a whm on my server. And one last thing we have to pay these prices for scrolls true but once we have them thats it again i would like to point out ninja job has to continue to get tools or as the other post says rng arrows.I think we all need to help each other out more for bcnms and quests to get what we need for our jobs and stop being so selfish. One last point get a mule with a diff job and quest your scroll and sell them in my server mea is 300k dem is 200k holla 80k altep 200k and the other one was about 200-300k add the all and you have enough for erase and raise II.Good luck with your whm we all need it.

We're all WHM's

We're all suposed to help those in need

We're suposed to have the pimp spells, such as Erase and RaiseII/III so the people around us are satisfied

We're suposed to have them from a start, we're not questioned about "Do you have it?" since we HAVE to have it

And then again, I don't complain about having to help others and making their way up easier. That's why I chose Whm for...

But then, why, WHY the hell, doesn't anybody help me get there? I mean, why can't people think that the same spell they're selling for a price I can't actually pay, is the one that's going to save their sorry asses the day the make a mistake and die?

"Hey, you, give me a Raise II" -I'm sorry, but I don't have it "Huh?! How come you don't have it?! You're a lv 56 WHM, you're SUPOSED to have it!!!" -Yes, I was suposed as far as you were suposed to sell it for a reasonable price.

In my opinion, people just ask for too much. They're asking us WHM's to give them gil, to pay hundreds of gil, for a spell, and later on to SAVE them with that spell.

It's ridiculous when you think at it this way: You're paying someone to give him a Raise.

Doesn't it sound pathetic? I'm not going to deny helping people, but the same as I'm devoted to my job and I don't mind dying for someone, spending my time with someone, healing someone or raising them from the dead, I'd expect that people grow conscious about it and learn that some of us just can't afford to pay the prices the want to pull of us, as well as lose a few dozens of Seals because you've been stuck in a few unsatisfactory BCNM's.

I supose it's the way of the WHM. "Save their backs today, to get a kick in the spine tomorrow"

/sigh

NOTE: Just as a backup to my post, Raise II is going at around 300k in Alexander, as well as Erase is wandering around 400k. It's not that bad, you say, but it is for someone who can barelly farm and who doesn't charge a peny for PL's.

Hm, well then, let's all drive the Raise II prices down to 1k to make it easy on everyone! That would be great! Oh, but wait... if it sold for 1k, then no one would do the BCNM for it. You're calling this guy greedy for wanting as much cash as possible for he 50-60 seals he spent to get the scroll? Gimme a break. That's ridiculous. Driving up prices is not a sin. It happens, get over it, people.

Driving up price is wrong and bad for the game. However, until SE decides they don't want a defective economy that greatly benefits gil-sellers, extortionists, and monopolists, we must live with it.

To be honest, they shouldn't have a resource like Raise II or Erase only come from BCNMs or level 70+ Mobs. They should have a level 56 Mob that a player should be able to beat drop this at a reasonable rate. Yes, it isn't right that WHM should have to pay through their noses for scrolls because SE has a Patheticially Designed Economy. Thank goodness most of the game and its storyline are much better then the Design of their Economy. Personally, I'll be glad when SE has to produce records of item transactions for a Sherman-Antitrust Case. Then maybe SE will redesign their economy so resources can't be monopolized and people can't drive up prices without someone else being able to make sure they can't sell their goods, because they are willing to keep the prices low.

Charging for Raises.
# Aug 17 2005 at 6:35 AM Rating: Decent
I am so fed up with trying to help people and it costing me money, xp, and time that for now on when i am out and some random person sends me a tell for a raise, much less a raise 2, i am going to charge them 1k for it until it pays off all the spells i have purchased to help others like them. its pathetic that we whm suffer for trying to help those around us. i for one am not doing it anymore. its not worth it. please support this action on all servers till they bring down the prices.
RE: Charging for Raises.
# Aug 17 2005 at 8:12 AM Rating: Default
kinda hard to trade with the dead, and if you raise them you cant be sure they will pay you. Personally I dont charge for a raise (1or2) because I wouldn't want to be charged to get raises. Just cause you have the power does not mean you have to use or abuse it. When out leveling I often will ingore those parties around me and if I am busy or low on MP I usually wait, there has been so many time I have trekked across a zone to raise someone to find them raised already when I get there (/fume). There is a few exceptions to this, I will always raise someone if I encounter them and have correct job (providing there not on my blist) or shout for a raise, I will also Raise any WHM that is down. If a party gets wiped out yeah it can be time consuming to raise everyone, but if you raise the whm then the party can learn from it's mistakes and you wont have to stay around to please everyone (if party has no whm next best raiser will do). I wouldn't charge for a raise since it is part of the whm job unless it was for a chocobo and I am/was broke. Just cause you have the ability to do so doesn't mean you have to use it either. I am sure most whm get a little irritated by the {please}{can I have it?} spam that the other users barrage us with. Another thing to cut down on help requests is providing an R1 for the dead and allowing them the option to await an r2.
The spells you purchase and use granted cannot be resold, but then again that is part of your job. Why would anyone be expected to pay for your stoneskin blink and other self only or party only spells when they get nothing from them. The majority of the spells you have are to help party, if you feel the party should buy your spells then consider paying off a rdm for each refresh (refresh is 2k on out server but Phalax and dispel are quite the pretty penny) now it would be silly to have to pay for help from your party and vise versa. Mages aren't only class limited to expenses based on job (i.e spells) anyone with a bow/disposable ranged weapon tools food are all items considered part of the particular job, and most people assume those costs for themselves, and expect others to keep there character up to date with abilities and gear.
Point is you dont have to Help but those who do earn respect from others, those who cry generally get blisted or laughed at.
Do unto others....

In the matter of 1 week this scroll went up from 120-130k to 400k on Phoenix. Why can't SE make scrolls quested after (Other then BCNM) or bought from NPCs?

I'm on Remora, and decided to try and buy this scroll for my WHM before the price jumped (prices are ridulous after emigration). The ENTIRE history is 140-180k.... and I get this message:

"You were unable to buy the scroll of Raise 2 for 350,000 gil."

I. Hate. This. Emigration. ****.

Seraph was not part of the migration but these posts tended to panic me with my 53 WHM needing it soon. I logged in today to check prices and there were 5 scrolls up. Price ranging 100-120k. Got my Raise II scroll for 100k. Guess I will consider myself very lucky.

Just a lil story to make u all feel better.
Way back when I was wee lil whm (54) i had finally saved enough money to buy this scroll. I chked the AH to see the past sales for ~80k. I was so excited cause i had my first 100k so i tried to buy it.
75k...no dice 76k...nada 80k...nope All the way up, and i finally bought it for 94k! "WOOT" so i put it in my bazaar for 100k figuring id make some gil off it if it did sell and i could rebuy it for 94k again. It stayed in my bazaar for ~2 weeks. then all of a sudden random ppl start sending me /tells, asking if they could buy it from me. I said nah i was saving it for my whm. Then i chked my bazaar 1 time and it was gone. I didnt think much of it till i went to the AH a while later to rebuy it. 150k!!! so i waited a while to for it to go down. I chk again 200k!! "OMG I GOTTA BUY IT NOW!!" but of course i didnt have enough money -.- So i waited till i was 55 w/ 3k tnl. I went to chk the price and it was ~350k >.< I had to borrow money from a friend just to buy this damned spell -.- So our lesson is... items u RLY want to keep, dont put them in ur bazaar for under 99,999,999 :)
