For those who haven't figured it out. To get this item you:
Kill the Satiator in the 3rd to 4th level of Promyvion-Dem (Takes 6 people at least, 8->12 is more safe if you aren't 2-houring)
He will drop the Satiator Remant (sometimes?), which you trade to a ??? in Promyvion Vahzl to spawn a NM named Provoker, who *might* drop the Recollection of Anxiety.
You trade this recollection to the same guy in Jeuno as you do for the animas.

Good luck!
Post-casting effect?

Will it give the same effect after Stoneskin has been cast? Just curious, because if so, then you could use a Stoneskin Torque, then swap it with this to get the enhancement. Can someone who is willing please test this?

If it's anything like the Hamayumi, you would get a Recollection in Promy-Vahzl (Promethia 5-2, Enduring Tumult of War) which you trade back to Harith in Ru'Lude Gardens. Hope somebody will confirm how to get it, it sounds like a pretty damn good item for Rdm...

Question: This item .vs. Enhancing Torque (lvl 65)

Part of the Stoneskin damage formula is the total Enhancing Magic Skill. So, as part of my Stoneskin macro, I equip the level 65 enhancing torque (when I'm using my 75RDM).

I'm wondering which gear is better - this item or the enhancing torque. I suspect we won't know until someone actually tries it out.

IBHalliwell - Inquiring minds want to know.
Question: This item .vs. Enhancing Torque (lvl 65)

Promise Badge (or Justice, whichever is MND+5)>Enhancing Torque.

MND+5=15 StoneskinHP.
MND+3=9 StoneskinHP.
Enhancing magic+7=7 StoneskinHP.

About the Stone Gorget, it's pretty simple: if you can get a 350 HP (maxed) Stoneskin without the neck slot, use it; Otherwise, don't.

The numbers listed are assuming your base enhancing magic and mind are high enough to fall into the third and final formula for stoneskin, but no matter what it is true that promise badge > enhancing torque for stoneskin. However I think this would be the best thing to put on your neck for stoneskin even if you can't hit the cap without it. My understanding is that it doesn't just allow stoneskin to go up to 380, it actually increases your stoneskin by 30, and ignores the cap. Since promise badge, the runner up, is only +15... I'd go with this regardless of your MND/enhance, it becomes even more powerful though if your stats are too low to get into the higher tier formula. The formulas by the way are:

* X = ([Enhancing Magic Skill] / 3) + MND
* F is the the amount of damage reduced.

* F = X (if X < 80)
* F = X * 2 - 60 (if 80 <= X <= 130)
* F = X * 3 - 190 (if X > 130)

as per ffxicyclopedia.

EDIT: also worth mentioning... this gorget is usable almost 30 lvls before the torque.

Tested
# Nov 04 2005 at 9:12 AM Rating: Excellent
I thoroughly tested this item finally after I got it. I went to Altepa desert and fought cauctors with two in the party. Therefore, 1,000 needles hit for 500 (1,000/2) with no stoneskin up. I cast stoneskin and that made 1,000 needles hit for only 150. I equiped the Stone Gorget and recast stoneskin. 1,000 needles only hit for 120 now. I recast stoneskin with Stone Gorget equipped, but then unequipped it after stoneskin finished casting. Again, 1,000 needles only hit for 120.

Conclusion: Like was posted before static 30 damage reduction added to stoneskin. So odbviously better at lower levels, and less significant at higher levels. Also, you can macro it in and switch it out and still have the effects as long as it was equipped during casting of stoneskin. Not sure if this was quite worth the effort to get as it was a complete pain to get.

Stoneskin absorbs a maximum amount of 350hp on it's own (no phalanx or negative damage reduction equip). Apparently if you equip this item before casting stoneskin, it should give you an extra 10%, meaning 35hp. If you had phalanx or -10% dmg or whatever, that would make stoneskin last a bit longer. (The 350hp cap was personally tested by sending a pet to fight a sabotender in altepa as whm/bst, and waiting for 1000 needles to hit my untouched stoneskin.)

Please don't accept ththe 10% addition to stoneskin as 100% true, I have yet to obtain this item. But so far, this has been the most plausible explanation I've heard (and from a trusted source). I'll do my best to get one and post the results.

I agree with this explanation, it does make sense, it's kinda like a cure potency+ but for stoneskin?
I'd just like to point out that Aerial Armour doesn't stack with utsusemi though, if you get a SMN to do it when a NIN has shadows up you get the message "Has no effect on..."

I don't agree with you Reconmage, because if it were supposed to make stoneskin last longer, why can it be equiped by all jobs. However, it may stack with stoneskin, but I doubt it. I.E. Garuda's shadows and Utsemi shadows. Lol - I'm not sure, but I'm just guessing.

What??

You can SJ WHM for | Stoneskin | -_o Blink is a spells effect, not a passive item effect... you can't compare Utsusemi and Garuda's A. Armor to Stoneskin and an Item that helps it last longer... It makes no sense lol...

Can't work like that Dan. That would basically mean this necklace gives you stoneskin effect on constant? or randomly does. There's only 1 armor that does that :) Anyway, its a well known fact the difference between "enhances" and "+1". "+1" on efefcts and traits gives you that +1 effect regardless of wether or not you have it. Thus the katana with double attack +1 will allow a sam/thf to cooasionally attack twice, just not tearly as often as the real job trait would. Enhances doesnt give you the trait, or in this case, the spell. Remember smn have party stoneskin from titan, plus the spell istenf is only 28 for whm.

The only thing that would put doubt on this is how har af gives + and "ehnance" to double attack, which has always kind of been a mystery. And the Tatami shield, which grants a taste of all the killer effects to all the jobs that can equip it.

Enhances means you must have it to effect it.
+1 means it will give you that JT.

If you see Enhances dual weild, your not going to see a BLM/WHM weilding 2 wands.

But if you see Conserve MP + 1, you may noticed a PLD/WAR using less mp on some of his spells.
(This is just a repetition of What was said above but with more examples.)

This is enhances stoneskin, so when you cast the spell stoneskin (i don't know if titan is included), It will enhance it, probably make it absorb more HP. Someone would have to test it.

No, you don't need the Trait for it to already be Enhanced, reason why every melee must obtain Brutal's earring :) for that Free Double Attack w/o having to sub Warrior. The % Proc rate varies tho. There's no solid rule.

Unless a smn can confirm otherwise, i'm prety sure earthen ward is considered stoneskin, because thats that is says when you target your buffs. Again i might be mistaken, i'm now a SMN and I dont often PT with them, so i'm running off of a bad memory :).

As a 56SMN, 75RDM, 55BLM, and 38WHM, I can say Earthen Ward is our (SMN) version of Stoneskin.

How much damage Earthen Ward will take .vs. Stoneskin before it goes, I don't know. I do know the timer on EW is much longer than SS when no damage occurs.

IBHalliwell - I really find putting on Earthen Ward before each battle make my job as main healer easier. Yeah, I know the NIN (and other meele like Hastega, but it takes 129 MP and doesn't help reduce HP loss. Yet, it may help reduce the length of the battle and hence the HP loss.

In the case of a NIN, Hastega may well help reduce *his* HP loss (though not the rest of the PT's). Hastega reduces his Utsusemi recast timers, thus allowing him to keep shadows up much more easily, and thus taking less damage.
