sigs and aeds can be tricky to kill being that there are so many link possibilities.
hastatus is lottery spawn every 2hrs @the crossroads in Quicksand Caves from various ants, (pld, war, rng, blm types)lv65+
note: aeds in hastatus area do not drop strings, rdm can solo all mobs.
also, sand mantle isnt 100%.
you get four items from a crate, i ended up with
platinum b. coin
tree cuttings
kindred seal
green chip
quest is repeatable, good luck.

I got this item from a Antican NM in *Quicksand Caves*. I dont remember what entrance from western altepa desert though. The anticans name ended with XI-XV, or something like that. I wonder what this is for. ^^

You need to collect 4 Xhifhut items to trade to an NPC Goblin named Peddlestock... I believe he gives you a map with the treasure marked on it. The items are as follows:
Xhifhut Strings dropped off Antican Aedilis in Quicksand Caverns
Xhifhut Body dropped off Antican Signifer in Quicksand Caverns
Xhifhut Bow dropped off Antican Hoplomachus in Western Altepa Desert
Xhifhut Head dropped off Hastatus XI-XII* in Quicksand Caverns
*Hastatus XI-XII is a Lv.65 mob.
Treasure:
Sand Mantle
Lv.65 DEF:8 Attack+5
While petrified: Physical damage taken -20%
WAR/MNK/RDM/THF/PLD/DRK/BST/BRD/RNG/SAM/NIN/DRG
