Well considering this.

AF pants are fine for their stats. Needless to say +3 Doesn't do anything. AF+1 is +8 Skill, Hence the ATTK bonus you're looking for.

Personally, with my capped Minuets, Musical Earring, BRD's Roundlet, ChoralCuffs+1, Wind Torque, etc. ATTK is obviously raised a significant amount. It takes about +7 WND skill alone to raise an ATTK. It caps at 264.

Add the Singing+WND skill to find what it amounts too.

Still, I use BRD Cannons for everything. Until I upgrade the AF+1. Then I'll use my macros I suppose.

Yeh, Courtly Measure +8Chr/Mnd/Int -8Str/Vit/Dex/Agi when disengaged.
Military Parade, +8Str/Vit/Dex/Agi -8Chr/Mnd/Int when engaged.
Have them both to prove so.

These definately make up for the garbage which is BRD af1 pants.

New song, +MP > 5 STR.

+3 wind skill makes your party songs better, therefore making your whole party better.

+X CHR just makes it easier to slow or sleep a mob, not nearly as useful as say +10 ACC and +10 ATT for the party's melee.

lvl 71 I still wear my AF pants. Even after I get these or Sha'ir, I'll still use them for party songs and swap out these or sha'ir for enemy songs (using macro)

it's not a matter of CHR being better than +Skill, it's a matter of strategically swapping between skill and CHR depending on if your target(s) are friendly or not.

only thing is +3 skill doesn't even add +1 ATT on Minuet IV. with all the +skill you can get in the game you will only get +2 ATT more than what you would normally get without it.

your songs get more powerful as you level up, so do the effects of +skill

at level 74 and 228 (capped) wind (232 capped sing) I get +65 ATT from a valor minuete 4 (+2)

storing my coral cannions in my MH, I use the same macro at 225 skill and get +55 ATT

so, doing some simple math I can see a mere +3 raised my song by +10 (or roughly +20%)

I do realize that songs don't get more powerful with every point, you have to push them past a certain point mark for them to "level up" thus 222 skill and 225 skill would both give me +55 ATT while 228 skill gives me +65...

regardless, if you're using CHR gear while singing party songs, you get +0. a no-brainer in my book.

Ok, I just tested this, with these stats:

Bard75/Whm37
Singing 230
Wind 238
Cornette +1 (Minuet +2)
Chr 70 + 25 (Opo-opo Crown on, no food)

Sadly to say, Minuet IV does not go above 61 (unless maybe you've meritted Minuet already and conveniently left that out). And in fact, songs do get more powerful with every point, though it seems to me like it is about 1/3 of a point for every skill point (after an initial base increase for each song). You can notice this only when your skills aren't capped and you level up, your minuet will tend to go up about 2-3 Atk points by the time you re-cap your skills. One of the better ways to enhance your song would be to use the appropriate Elemental Staff; those are believed to add 10% to their respective element, so the right staff with the right song (eg. Fire Staff for Minuet) then maybe that's where you're getting the 10% increase from.

Minuet IV withOUT the Cornette +1 (+2 to minuet) still only gives +56 Atk with the stats I listed above, so in most cases even the right instrument doesn't add much more; it does however make it more effective (ie. Elegy or Threnody) AND it makes the songs last a LOT longer. The only songs that I know of that an instrument will double the effect on are Paeon and Ballad (Gjallahorn for Ballad :x).

Also, unless I'm mistaken, all your skills as Bard cap at 225 at 75, not 74.

'cept AF1 pants are NOT garbage. Most jobs would kill for an item that gave them +5 STR. Use them for farming, other stuff. Use these, when/if you can get them, for HNM hunts.

You get a +10 increase in attack with +3 Wind skill -.- riiiiiight

You're probably forgetting that the pants have +5 Str which could of added to the Attack "bonus," and Ive also even tested out the pants with +10 singing skill.

So I tested out Minuet IV with just my Cornette +2 equiped to get what just the attack boost was without any +skill. I made sure to minus the attack the +5 str gives you on the AF1 pants. For the +10 singing skill I equipped the Choral Cuffs and Demon helm.
Turns out my Minuet was 2 attack points higher.

Then I just tested out the +10 singing skill and got the same +2 Attack with my Minuet IV.

In the end, the +3 Wind skill didnt affect my minuet at all.

Also, I made sure that only the tested gear was equiped so stats were affected.

Did the test about a month ago because another brd in my ls said Skill doesnt affect songs like minuet so the Minuet numbers are hard to remember, but Im sure that there was a +2 attack increase with the +10 Singing skill.

After some research, it seems to be that the two pieces that grant "Military Parade" and "Courtly Measure" work something like this:

Military Parade:

STR+8, DEX+8, VIT+8, AGI+8, INT-8, MND-8, CHR-8
This is activated when you are in attack mode.

Courtly Measure:

STR-8, DEX-8, VIT-8, AGI-8, INT+8, MND+8, CHR+8
This is activated when you are not in attack mode.

I have no experience to prove this, but it's the generally accepted theory.

If that isn't the most vague item ability... Courtly Measure, I'm looking forward to level 75 just to find out what the heck that does!
