It's also bloody difficult to obtain, but I put this on a long time ago. As was mentioned before, this is for TP gain, or more specifically used for DoT. The Kirin's Osode, or Haubergeon (HQ, NQ) are used for Weapon Skills.

The Best?

I have a question, very simple but a possibly complex answer. How does this compare to Kirin's Osode?

Kirin's Osode is a WS piece, this is a melee piece or ranged piece.

Different uses.

Everyone mentioned everything nearly already, but from what I hear, with everyones' experience, the Koga Chainmail seems to drop more often than most AFv2's in Dynamis-Beaudedine. I hope so, I want it :)

This is the best DD gear a NIN can get in the game. Once I get to 70-75 I'm gonna try an get lucky enough to get one.... I hop.

Yeah as soon i get to NIN 75 i wanna own this 1 and the other parts too.

About the history stuff:

Yeah most of the early shinobi where normal ppl that where poor like hell and hired for killing someone.
In the later centuries of the shogun empire, NIN where used by the shogun to sneak into enemy bases gathering informations, doing terroracts and sometimes killing comanding officers there to slice down the moral of enemy troops.
The outfit varies from slightly normal clothes till red or blue parade outfits like the samurais had at shogun time.
For night raids to normaly weared black, like the normal NIN AF. So they where like shadows in the night...Shinobi, shadowwarriors.
looks/history
# Dec 24 2005 at 10:18 AM Rating: Excellent
Everyone who is talking about the looks being cuz of places, ie. red-woods black-night white-snow, you're thinking of Samurai, and bandits, who actually did do that.
Ninja's were (like the one guy said) just poor people who lost their jobs, killed someone with a sword, took their money and ran :P

but mostly bandits would disguise themselves in THE randomest ways possible to get to the goal. sometimes a samurai uniform for a region would be red, so they would wear red in that region so that they could go anywhere

and so on

about the gear itself, DAMN! nice :P, i wish MNK coulduse it lol, oh well our AFv2 looks cooler!!
jk lol

Geez people. Yes, it's read. I suppose by that level a ninja wouldn't need to worry about blending in to avoid being noticed. Aside from that, the stats on it are all combat-based, no defensive ones. So it's not really sneaking-around armor.

Actually, I think that a NIN would blend in perfect with his surroundings-especially at that leve, because by that level, that NIN could flip out and kill so many people, so fast, and with such precision that everything arround that NIN would be blood red with a few spurts of yellow organ juice scattered about giving sed NIN perfect camouflage :D

Well, honestly, I think they made the NIN AF2 Red because back on FF1 for NES, they made the NINs wear red, because if they wore black, you really wouldn't be able to see them in the background, which was black. in the PS1 remake they changed the NIN gear to green.

Koga Chainmail ^^
# Jun 14 2005 at 4:02 PM Rating: Excellent
Koga Chainmail is dropped from random Dynamis-Beaucedine mob, not necessarily from Ninja-type.
I got mine on last Saturday ^^.

Here's the SS of my char with Koga Chainmail:

why is it red
# Feb 14 2005 at 5:11 PM Rating: Decent
lol in real life ninjas didnt only wear black armor. it depend on the environment. white for snow. black for night time. i would think red would be for like the forest where the tree barks are mostly red or brown.
RE: why is it red
# Mar 05 2005 at 7:25 PM Rating: Decent
Ninjas wear read armor because during combat if you cut them the wounds are hard to see, giving the illusion that they are invincible.

Actually if you look at history you're all really wrong. Most ninja were poor farmers before they were shinobi. Therefore most ninja looked like totally common villagers giving them the best disguise ever for infiltrating large cities like Edo. I can't ever imagine ninja wearing anything flashy like shozoku or anything like this in reality...its just not practical. Shinobi succeded in their goals because they were good at what they did, and because they looked like everyone else. If a ninja were to wear anything flashy in an assassination, it would probably be a female to seduce her target into sleeping with her. Then she would strike usually with poison. So in conclusion the only flashy dressing shinobi or pajama wearing ones were female getting stupid horny statesmen to jump in the sack with them.

I saw a NIN last night on my server wearing this O_O had to give a /salute /bow

so awsome.

edit: and oh yeah I don't think the ninja wearing this gives a flying F if he stands out in this. When I get this armour I'm not gonna be a sneaky ninja assasin hidding in the corner... I'm gonna be the ninja jumping through your skylight spamming you with shurikin flippin' out and killing stuff^^

How often does this drop..? in a Dynamis run
RE: wow
# Feb 19 2005 at 12:21 AM Rating: Good
Well, from what I've observed in other Dynamis areas, dynamis drops are very random. Sometimes you'll get 10 AF2. Other times you'll only get 2.

No way to tell. Having a THF with TH3 or 4 will help out though.
how to get it

I saw a 75 NIN wearing this and nearly wet myself before I even knew what the heck it was - it was simply gorgeous. Just one problem:

Why in the world would a NIN, the master of sneaking, escaping, silent killing, and spying irl wear something that looks freaking luminescent? It's like the Redcoats who "snuck" around at night wearing uniforms that could be seen a mile away by anyone.

Oh well, can't complain. A NIN shouldn't be standing there taking hits with Utsusemi like a fancyfied punching bag either, so SE doesn't exactly have the whole concept down :P

Seriously though... bad *** armor and the best stats I have seen practically on anything.

Maybe they didn't want to stick to the concept? I personally think they just wanted to recreate ninja in their own way for this game, they don't have to stick by the rules.

Ninja wasnt meant to be I tank from what I understand so the whole glorified punching bag thing game from us not SE.

You gotta go to Dynamis - Beaucedine and it drops off mobs in there......i think there is also the big long proces of having to have a LVL90+ crafter then make them for you but that may just be the weapons lol but i know to actually "get" the AF2 ya gotta go to Dynamis

I am under the impression that you are referring to the cursed/abjuration armor.

other than the AF2 weapons, AF2 armor is simply a drop ... and can be used as soon as you get it.

for AF2 weapons (level 75 for the most part I think you need to go through a lengthy process to get them into the final stages)

The people wearing the armour are probably GMs. They look really KEWL!!! I wish I had those.

Usually when you see pics of people in full relic armor, it is just people that switch the files around so that their armor model appears as the relic one. The same type of thing where some people choose to change their moogle in the mog house to something else (like the shadow lord).

Or it's people using a model viewer program. :P That doesn't involve any switch of files or messing with in-game stuff at all.

This is the second AF set for Ninja, every job has one, they have one piece at every level between 71-75.

They all drop in Dynamis, and I believe (like the other level 74 pieces of Relic armor) that this one is dropped in Dynamis - Beaucedine.
it is..
# May 18 2004 at 9:06 AM Rating: Decent
it is dynamis such as the paladin's valor surcoat and the dark knight's abyss cuirass. i believe this is dropped from mobs in dynamis-jeuno but i'm not positive. either way this is sweet. there is also koga head, feet, legs, and hands.

Those are some crazy good numbers, and yet this doesn't seem like the dynamic AF for NIN. Is it part of their AF or a seperate item?
